Scenic Golf

A number of really nice holes. Playing around the lake on the front 9 was really fun. Greens were nice and soft. A number of long par 4's made the course challenging.

Nice course.

This course requires you to manage your game. Lots of water. Some short par 4's, but don't let them fool you, they are challenging. No room for error, keep it straight. Think about every shot, distance control is key to scoring on this course. Don't try to be a hero and pull out fairway woods or long irons on your second shot, you'll be sorry, trust me!

Very interesting design.

Really great use of the "Marsh" terrain. Must play a smart game here. Really enjoyed the course. The Clubhouse is great also--a "Frank Lloyd Wright" style "Prairie" design. Definitely worth a trip.

A typical weekend day at Lost Marsh

While the layout of the course is a lot of fun (tons of water on the front nine) the course conditions continue to deteriorate and the pace of play on weekends is almost always an issue. Tees and fairways are laced with divots the are not replaced or sanded and several greens are bumpy/pockmarked with ball marks which aren't repaired. My playing partner and I fixed over 40 (yes over fourty) ball marks on the 15th green alone!! Plus they still want $40 to play the course during the fall which is pretty steep in comparison to other more well groomed courses. We ended up as the 4th group on the Par 3 eleventh hole and waited over 20 minutes to start play again. It's a real shame because when this course opened it was a gem......but folks don't care......they play the wrong tees (high handicappers will lose at least 6 balls or more on this course), they play slow......and simply put people don't take care of this course. Much better values, conditions and tracks elsewhere to play.....and my golf buddies will probably have to pay my greens fee for me to consider going out to this track and only when there aren't a bunch of yahoo's out on it.

tough, tough course. need to be good to play here

The course was in great condition except for a couple fairways they were aerating. This course was a bit too tough for golfers of my skill level. I normally shoot between 85-90 and this course was all i could handle. One tough hole after another with tons of water and high grass to lose balls in. I would say if you don't shoot low 80's or better consistently then this course is too tough for you.

Greens are bumpy and sandy

They must've just air raided because the greens were bumpy and sandy. The only bad thing was we phoned before we booked and they said "small holes in them" but that was completely false. Making a two footer was challenging for even a five handicap!!!

Potential for a great course but mismanaged staff

The course design is amazing but I have played this course three times in the last year, and it is apparent that the grounds keepers are not keeping the course up to the "championship" level that they advertise. The tee boxes are completely destroyed to the point that you are hitting out of a sand box. Multiple fairways and greens need significant repairs.

The worst part is that the starter wants to give you a golf lecture before the first hole but the rangers were no where to be seen on the course to enforce pace of play. At one point we had 5 groups on a par three and no one was happy with the pace of play, so if Lost Marsh wants to charge "Championship" rates then they should monitor slow play.

I have no desire to return to this course until they get their act together.

Greens are aerated and fairways were in the process of aeration. Fairways were in a rough shape

Course has a good layout with lots of water. First 4 holes has water on both sides. Holes number 3 and 4 are very challenging,
Lost Marsh was in poor shape - grenns are aerated and buumpy and they were aerating the fairways as I was playing. Everytime I play there it seems they have all their lawn machinery out - constant noise.....
This course has very poor distance markers - very very hard to gauge distance. Score card and tee boxes has 30-40 yard discrepancies in distances.
If you decide to play there - make sure to call them and see how much maintanence going on. That noise ir rerally annoying.

Fun course and only short drive from city

Second time playing here was a lot of fun and challenging, even if a couple of the holes seem a little gimmicky. If you can make it through the first four or five holes with a decent score, the course opens up some. The course is in pretty good to great shape, the greens rolled really well. The staff is great and the clubhouse that was just being finished the first time I played there is extremely nice and big. Driving range is off the ground as opposed to mats which is big in my book. The course was pretty slow on a saturday morning, but the ranger did a good job trying to keep things moving and it isn't always the golf course's fault that people are slow. All in all, fun and I will definitely play here again.

Big Surprise

You wouldn't think that a beautiful golf course could exist between the steel mills and refineries of NW Indiana, but Lost Marsh is a really fun golf course. There are some really crazy fun holes like 1-4, a great biarritz hole(the 6th) and some very tough holes like the 9th and 18th. Dean the pro is awesome and the staff is very cool.
