Starters and common sense
When you know there is a golf out if taking place, perhaps you shouldn't put 3 twosomes out right behind them. Maybe think about putting a gap between the outing and regular golfers. This is basic stuff. Besides that, the course was great. Just wish I could have played 18 in less than 6.5 hours.
Great Challenge of Skill
I love this course. If you can make it throught the first 6 holes you can probably score well. If not, be prepared.
Thank you for taking the time to review the course! We'll see you soon!
needs water badly
played 5/3/15 fairways need water desparately. talked to ranger
he said the water system has broken pipes under the ground therefore cant water the course. hopefully the rain today and that
scheduled for the rest of the week should help immensely hope its not to late to save the turf.
have to accept the fact the layout of the course is (to be kind) rather strange. (and i don't mean Curtis)
have to play some pretty weird shots (ie teeing off irons on par
fives. laying up on par 4's.
number 6 green is as nutty a green that you will ever putt on.
last, when its really windy. best advice get back in your car and play some where else. if thats not possible just go upstairs , order some food and drink. dont under any circumstances play this course unless u like to add 10 strokes to what u normally shot.
Thank you for providing details about your experience at Lost Marsh. We take all reviews very seriously and hope you will come out for another round soon.
Long and windy
Tough course to play if windy conditions. Greens are consistent, but they are in the sun 100% of the time.
Hitting fairways maybe an issue with all the doglegs and staggered fairways.
Cold Day, Nice Course
I have played Lost Marsh many times and believe it to be one of the finest courses in NW Indiana. On the day we played it, however, it was apparent that the weather conditions have not benefitted the beautiful fairways at this facility. There were many bald spots where grass normally would be growing. I have no doubt that as the weather warms up, the fairways will come back and that the course will do everything possible to enhance the process.
As an aside, the clubhouse and food at this facility is top notch. Also, the sand was abviously imported from somewhere else, and it was a real treat to play out of it.
We are expecting conditions to continue to improve with the warm weather coming in. We appreciate your thorough review and look forward to seeing you for your next round!
Tough hole placements
Shot a round on Friday 4/24/15, got onto the course just as the weather changed. A 20 degree drop in temp, and steady winds out of the north at 15 mph.
Pin placement at 1, made it challenging to putt from 10ft out. Anything longer and you were looking at serious breaking points. Greens tended to be slow and a little mushy with the high water table and overcast skies.
I usually golf this course later in the season, and the greens will be fast, because all 18 of them are in the sun 100% of the time. Challenging for both the intermediate and experienced player.
Bottom line. Golfed a $40+ course for $17 on Golfnow.com.
I'm not complaining.....
We appreciate a challenge and are glad our golfers do as well! Thank you for playing the course, we hope you do so again soon!
wonderful layout
I love this course very well maintained excellent layout nice and difficult have to play the wind and adjust the great thing about it I got to play for only $17 I wish it was a clear day because this was definitely a great course to play recommended to all
Thank you for the review! We hope to see you soon for another round!
Overbooked
Terribly overbooked 5 1/2 hours for round, beautiful and challenging course though.
We are sorry your round took longer than you would have like , due to traffic. Thank you very much for your review, we take our customers' feedback very seriously. Please visit again soon!
looks are decieving
For a course in an inner city urban area it is quite nice. Open areas are very windy and make the course more challenging than it looks.
If You Like a Chalange
Fun golf, course is recovering from winter so not in the best shape. Good combination of what I would consider a birdie hole and difficult holes. I will be looking forward to playing again this summer
Lost Marsh rules
awesome layout, cheep beer, early so greens are still dormant. 1st 4 holes are monsters, if it's windy, can be treacherous.
Great course just outside the city
This course is a great. Close to the city, but far enough out to get a fair price on green fees. the staff is great and the facilities are always clean and well kept
Tough but Fun
Really enjoy this course. First time out, did not play well. This time shot 91, which is not too horrible from the silver tees. 20mph winds. Plays like a true links course. If you can get thru the first 5 holes without the water eating the balls, you should be good from there. Saw a bald eagle! Big dood perched on a small low branch in one of the small lakes. Will definitely be back. Well kept, great staff, great experience.
Nice
It felt like I was playing in the caribun it's a unike golf corse different than any other corse very challenging but fair
Buecholic course among the refineries and steel mills
Very nice course but a little too tricky for it's own good. Too many blind shots. But a fun course none the less. It's a shame they are aerating the greens this week because they roll great and are already too soft. Totally not necessary.
A very interesting layout. Quite a few tempting short 4's
Played on a perfect fall day. Got paired with two other gentlemen who were about the same skill level.
Enjoyed the course, the tee boxes and fairways were in good shape. The greens were a bit beat up. Not very smooth or fast. I could have spent all day fixing ball marks of other less considerate golfers which really was my only gripe .
Great layout very challenging
This course will give you every shot you are looking for. Lost marsh makes you think about every shot. Great course well play again
Lost Marsh September 2014
Very challenging course. Front 9 in particular. If you aren't extremely accurate, better bring a lot of extra balls!!! Back 9 not as tough, but not knowing the course made it a lot harder.
Fantasy course
Played in extremely poor weather which made a extremely difficult course horrific. Layout reminds me of one of the fantasy courses on Tiger Woods golf game! Front nine is all target golf hopping across islands and back nine moves into the trees a little. Seems every hole is a "signature" hole which is great at first but surprisingly gets a little old after a while. Course conditions great, even in heavy rain. Would recommend to play but take plenty balls, have fun and dont beat yourself up when you shoot high numbers.
Surprise in the Middle of an Industrial Park
As you approach Lost Marsh, you cannot believe you are going to be playing golf on a nice course. The area is not a pastoral setting.
Yet when you get there and go into the gorgeous clubhouse you forget where you are.
The course is tough, especially the first 5 holes. Bring a ton of balls as there is water everywhere.
The staff is generally friendly, even though the person who signed us in was not particularly friendly.
Thank you for your feedback. We are so sorry your round took longer than you would have liked, and I assure you we will will take your suggestion into consideration. Please email us at lostmarshteetimes@aol.com to discuss further.
