We truly enjoyed our round at McDowell Mountain. It’s a beautiful course, and the entire experience was wonderful
Still one of my favorites
Yesterday’s play was great. Conditions are really nice. Fast greens, firm fairways for the most part. Staff is very friendly. Nice pro shop. Fun food and drinks. Great all around experience. Have played here each time I come to Scottsdale. Will remain on my favorites list
Tough day at McDowell.
Have played this course 20+ times. Today was a.disaster. Play was painfully slow. Backed up three deep on some holes. What was disappointing we never saw one ranger or course employee. At what they are getting for green fees these days, they should easily be able to manage pace of play.
Fun course to scramble
Played with friends and family in a two man scramble format. Fun from the gold/white combo tees with some relatively short par 4s. One odd hole, marked as par 5 455 yds but played about 370 from the white tees. Have played the course three times and enjoyed it, classic desert course design with some rough between the fairways and desert areas, but does play a little narrower than some local courses. Great Reuben sandwich and waffle fries post round but the service was a little slow at the restaurant. The food made up for it though and Kiltlifter on tap is always a bonus.
Nice, but other options available.
I played this course with my teenage sons. We had a good time, and the course was a good one. The practice facilities weren’t great. The range had very little grass to hit off of, and the range balls were almost smooth they had been hit so many times. Putting green had some bare spots in it, but overall the course was fun and we had a good time. $200 per person is a little steep for what you get in return, and the range balls weren’t even included in the round, which seems odd.
Golf getaway
My buddy and i always include mcdowell in our course selection. Nothing negative can be said in my opinion. Keep it up.
Long waits
Pace of play was horribly—often backed up 2 groups deep—we realize that the frost delay backed things up but Marshall’s were not doing their job! Friendly guy but basically laughed it off and had an”oh well” attitude!
WAY too pricey(200) for the quality of course
frost delay, and slow
There was a 90-minute frost delay that was passed on to all players. We arrived 30-minutes prior to our revised tee-time. When we arrived, we were informed our tee-time was now in 10-minutes. No time to warm up. No time to putt, straight to tee box. But we got over that. What was impossible to get over, was a 5:05 round. Unbelievable. fifteen minutes per hole is 4:30...this was over that. Player assistant had no comment, just "Full golf course." I would play there again...during summer, cheaper rate, less crowded.
Love the greens
Besides a 2 1/2 hour frost delay the course and staff were amazing!
Horrible Pace of Play - Range Balls not included
Upon checkin, I found myself really upset about this course when the clubhouse attendant wanted to charge me for range balls.. You would think after paying $160 for a weekend tee time, that range balls would be included. We didn't purchase the range balls since we played TPC Stadium earlier that day. We headed to the first tee where we found a group still waiting to tee off. It seems the starter was not spreading the tee time adequately. Once the group in front moved on, we found ourselves with 2 groups behind us waiting at the tee box while we teed off on the first hole! That was just the beginning of a long tedious day!. The course layout is nice but we couldn't enjoy it with so much going on at every single hole.. It felt too crowded. Will never do this course again and definitely not recommend to anyone..
