About
One of the best public facilities in Texas, Texas Star is ironically located in the middle of an industrial area, yet somehow sports the natural look and feel of the Hill Country. Designed by Keith Foster, this is a tough course with numerous hazards, immaculate conditions, and many unique holes.
Foster’s design tips out at 6,936 yards and is a par 71. Hurricane Creek traverses the landscape, and the old oaks that line the course offer the perfect respite from the surrounding industrial community.
No. 15 is one of the better holes--a 37-yarder highlighted by a green-fronting pond and waterfall. The fairway is split due to the hazard, and a solid tee shot of at least 220 yards is required to carry the falls.
Another great hole is the scenic 179-yard No. 16, which plays downhill and is framed by a rock-lined creek on the right. No. 18 is a nice ender, going 535 yards with water everywhere. Leave yourself a short-iron approach, since the green is protected by a creek.
Note that the course is closed on Tuesdays, and in the summer the club is known to limit play to 100 golfers per day. And while some complain that it this is a cart-path-only course, the condition of the fairways more than makes up for the inconvenience.
Getting there : From the Dallas-Fort Worth Airport, take Hwy, 183 west to Hwy, 157. Drive south to Hwy. 10 and turn right. The entrance is 1 mile down and visible from the highway.

GREAT COURSE
Texas Star changed their course and greens out recently. The course is challenging and in great shape. Cant wait to get back out there.
Texas Star
Great round at Texas Star, paired up with two other guys, both Mark's. Course in good shape, played 18 in 4 hours, Staff very professional, just plain got it done.
Unreal!
First time playing this course. Extensive practice facility. Course was in amazing shape. They just put in all new greens. The greens were slower than I expected, but the staff said they were much faster than previous greens. Rain the night before and overcast, cloudy day may have been a factor. I will return when the weather is nicer for sure. From the blue tee's, the yardage was 6529. Sounds average, but the par 5's are short and the par 3's are longer than average. It's only par 71 as well...

Was in great shape
Course conditions were Great since re opening October 1st. Greens were somewhat fast but fair enough that they were not too fast. Highly recommend this course! Staff was excellent and friendly as well.
Welcome back to Texas Star
We have been waiting for Texas Star to reopen and it was worth the wait. This was always a great course to play but there have been improvements. The sand is gorgeous and the overall course is in great condition. It was a great experience.
Best Municipal Course
Had to go out and play the course before it goes under reconstruction. Great now and can't wait to see it after completion!!
Quick weekday afternoon round
The course was in excellent shape. Teed off at 4:20p and had time to hit the range, short game area , and putt after the round before the sun went down.
This will be my go to Course in This Area
I travel a lot to DFW for work and have been looking for a great course convenient to the airport. Well, I finally found a course that met my expectations. Texas Star was head and shoulders above the other coures I have played in the airport area. My only complaint is the pace of play was slow the Monday afternoon. In the courses defense, I was a single and the course was full with groups on almost all holes. It was not enough to make me not want to return.

Enjoyable round
Fun course, good conditions. No bag drop as they were on their phones but solid service post round. Practice facility is great, but the range balls were generic rocks. They have the money to get a titleist ball but used these basic ones. The greens and bunkers are getting torn up in June and will be switched to the Bermuda most places have. I will be back.
Nice layout. Challenging course.
One of the best public courses in DFW area. Very scenic with lots of trees, creeks and elevation changes. Undulating greens can be challenging to read. My only real complaint is the quality of the sand traps, and there are a lot of strategically placed sand traps.

Expectation DID NOT exceed the event
1st time playing Texas Star - didn't put out $6 for yardage book but wish I had (lots of blind shots off the tees) - lots of elevation changes and interesting holes - course condition was excellent with the exception of the tee boxes - would play again tomorrow STAFF WAS GREAT BTW Saw a bobcat off of # 10 Very Cool

Texas Star GC in March 2013
The morning was cold, around 45 F with a brisk wind.
My partner and I were joined by two of the Marshalls who were enjoying a round. Having them with us gave us newbies inside info on shot placement etc. Made for a very enjoyable round.
The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome and catered to our every need both on the course and in the Raven's Grill.
The golf was great and the food was great and the staff was great. What more could you ask for?
Misleading
The course did no disclose to GolfNow that they had aerated all of the greens the prior week, so they were very rough, and they did not even allow
a discount for the condition. Very unprofessional.
Definitely Coming Back
Great course with many exciting and challenging holes. I would rank it up there with some of the best public courses in the metroplex. It obviously isn't Cowboys but you're not going to find a better value for the price.
