About
One of the best public facilities in Texas, Texas Star is ironically located in the middle of an industrial area, yet somehow sports the natural look and feel of the Hill Country. Designed by Keith Foster, this is a tough course with numerous hazards, immaculate conditions, and many unique holes.
Foster’s design tips out at 6,936 yards and is a par 71. Hurricane Creek traverses the landscape, and the old oaks that line the course offer the perfect respite from the surrounding industrial community.
No. 15 is one of the better holes--a 37-yarder highlighted by a green-fronting pond and waterfall. The fairway is split due to the hazard, and a solid tee shot of at least 220 yards is required to carry the falls.
Another great hole is the scenic 179-yard No. 16, which plays downhill and is framed by a rock-lined creek on the right. No. 18 is a nice ender, going 535 yards with water everywhere. Leave yourself a short-iron approach, since the green is protected by a creek.
Note that the course is closed on Tuesdays, and in the summer the club is known to limit play to 100 golfers per day. And while some complain that it this is a cart-path-only course, the condition of the fairways more than makes up for the inconvenience.
Getting there : From the Dallas-Fort Worth Airport, take Hwy, 183 west to Hwy, 157. Drive south to Hwy. 10 and turn right. The entrance is 1 mile down and visible from the highway.

Awesome Star!
New white sand is superb - I just found it too often! Great variety of challenging holes with nice elevation changes through out. No homes on the course makes for an enjoyable round. Greens ver nice!
Texas Star
Course is good shape, greens roll true and are great.
Favorite public course in the metroplex!
For a long time this course has been my favorite course to play. It provides a lot of challenges and the conditions are always great! I would recommend this course to everyone.
Course Keeps Up With the Hype
This is my first time after the changes made when the course was closed for updates.
The course is an excellent track and the new greens are exceptional.
My only issue was speed of play. It was cart path only, but a marshal might have alleviated some of the pain. Also, a twosome following a fivesome is aggravating.
Now that I have vented, I can't wait to go back. I highly recommend Texas Star. It might be the best deal in the MetroPlex.
Wet Course
Fun course but should have been closed. Staff not as friendly as in past .
Awesome mid-Feb golf day
First time back since the upgrades last year. Loved it, amazing shape for mid winter. Just might make this my home course.
Slow Play
There were at lease two groups of five ahead of my group. I think this is a good old boy course. This seem to happen every time we play this course. The rangers do not inforce the etiquettes of the game.

Definitely will play again
The course was in perfect shape for mid-February and the pace of play was great. I really enjoyed playing this challenging course and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Decided to have lunch after my round and was recommended the chicken fried steak and it didn't disappoint! Great golf and great food!
good course
Holes are long. The course kept it interesting. For the price fairways should be seeded with winter grass however, they were greener then most that do not over seed.I hate to pay this much to play as I play a couple times a week and I can go twice to a course as nice. But I will be back and use my reward points. Thanks ...
worst round of golf in a while and it was a Tuesday
First off the golf now app and website would not work for me so I had to manually call gold now in order for me to get a tee. Next the guy at the pro shop didn't tell me they just had tournament that just tee off in front of me. He just said it was a little slow. After playing the first 6 holes at a snails pace I talked to a couple of the competitors and they said they were only playing nine wholes for the day. Why didn't the staff tell me that. They just said it was slow all over. After playing 6 wholes I jumped over to 10. And had a fairly fast pace round with no one in front of me. I feel I was ripped off this time. Even though I got a 18% discount through golf bow

Course was in really good shape . The driving range is a good one . The new greens were some of the best you'll ever play , but really speedie ! The bunkers were perfect ! Lots of 400+ yard par 4s from the Blues . Great place to bring a client or a special day of golf for whoever ! It's a fair course but tough and demands decent shot making !!! Really a beautiful course !!
Great upgrade!
First time playing this course since replacing the greens and bunkers. Tee to green...great condition! Everyone was paired up in foursomes, and still managed to finish in 4 hours. Very challenging yet fun course. Highly recommended.
New and Improved Greens.
Texas Star has always been one of my favorite courses to play when we come town. The greens and sand bunkers are amazing now. Overall in great shape, and had great time.
Out of Town Guest
It has been several years since I played Texas Star... Had an out of town guest for 4 days of golf...the highlight for him was Texas Star.. Immaculate fairways.. great amenities.. fast and firm greens.. He really enjoyed the course.
Very good job replacing greens
I last played the course in late spring when I learned it would be closed until (at the time) after labor day so that bent grass greens could be replaced with a hybrid bermuda (I think I recall). The new greens are very playable; very little grain, and fairly fast.
The course is in great shape; fairways and greens and traps.
