The Golf Club At Fossil Creek
About
Designed by Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay, the links-style Golf Club at Fossil Creek was nominated by Golf Digest as one of the best new public golf courses in Texas when it opened in 1987, and has lived up to that advance billing since then. The course is scenic, with massive trees, limestone bluffs, bubbling creeks, and numerous lakes that bring water into play on 15 of 18 holes. The course boasts pretty rolling fairways and 18 testing holes all intertwined throughout streams created by Fossil Creek. It's surrounded by rocky-ledged creeks and crystal lakes.

Shot makers course
The course and putting greens are in great condition. The only downside is a sandy type driving range.
Fossil creek Tuesday
Course was in good shape. White tees were a little to far forward. Drove green on # 4 with ease hit 5 iron off # 7. If the these tees were moved up by the "pace of play" police then I think it was overboard.
Recommended
Fossil Creek is a great place to play. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. The course is in great shape. The fairways are perfect, the greens, although a little slow, we very smooth. I saw a review critical of the bunkers on the course. It appears they have new sand in all bunkers and they are in very good shape as well.
I played by myself on a Thursday afternoon; no waiting, about a 3:45 minute round; I took my time to enjoy the course.
Arnie's Pub is a great place after the round with friendly staff as well.
a great test!
Great playing conditions as course was full green. Greens are smooth as marble so be careful. Very breezy n windy when I played...think about clubbing up 1 or 2 into the wind. Def has the defining characteristics of an Arnie course.
Great Place! Horrible Traffic
We played on a Wednesday. Even then, they were fully staffed. There's a grill on the course somewhere on the back 9, good pit stop. Cart service was great, gorgeous cart staff. Fairways were in good condition. Greens were inconsistent though. Good condition, but some played extra fast, some slow. Lots of leaves on the course meant you almost always had to clear your putting green before putting. All in all. Good experience. Would love to play here again, but the I35W traffic is horrible!
excellent conditions
This course is in perfect condition. It also demands proper placement on the fairways and is very challenging.
Not what it used to be
Play here 2X per year. The greens were great. The tee boxes chewed up. Too many dead patches in the fairways for all the rain and sun we have had. Bunkers were awful. I hit the weedblock fabic in the bunker on 18. Not even an inch of sand where my ball was. This course used to be a destination course. It is not their fault that mother nature took down a bunch of trees. The conditions - other than the greens - are not up to the standard of an upper level public access course - sorry, but there are now better choices. When Texas Star re-opens that is where I will go for a high quality public access course
Great Round
Fossil Creek is a fun course, not long from the white tees, a lot of irons off the tee, really like the layout an risk/reward setup of the course. We were there on a $25/player golfnow coupon, will definitely play it again even at full price!
afternoon golfing
staff was very nice and pleasant upon checking in. the best part was before my cart gave out they already know - they came and change my golf cart even before it start giving me problem. golf course layout is beautiful. they have a semi island hole that you have to tee and hit from 80 feet high.
Fossil Creek
The greens had been punched and the fairways need some grass. Pace was slow...no marshals.
Horrible Greens!
They had aerated the greens without notice the night before we played. There were large portions of the greens that still had lots of sand. The ball couldn't roll through these areas and it made for a very frustrating day. I understand that this needs to be done, but I would like to know so that I can play the course after the greens have time to recover.
Not Bad Overall
I've played this course before and was pleasantly surprised the first time there, however this time out was not as enjoyable as the first. It started in the club house with the gentleman that checked us in, first he got our green fee wrong and seemed almost upset that we had a discount fee from the web. Next we were told that we could get our range balls from the starter only to arrive at the starter stand to find no starter. After finally getting some range balls and warming up we were told that we could start whenever we chose as it was slow that afternoon. The tee boxes and fairways were in really good shape for this time of year but the greens were in really horrible shape as they had recently aerated them (the website did not mention this fact). I had asked my partner several times if we were on the green or in a bunker there was so much sand. The pace of play was great as there was no one in front or in back of us for most of the round, though at the 14 tee we did catch a party of 3 that was taking their time, at one point one of them hit a tee shot walked back to his cart grabbed a different club and proceeded to hit a second ball while my partner and I waited dumb struck at this act. Over not a bad course for what we spent on greens fees.
One of the best in DFW
Fossil Creek is one of the best golf courses in the DFW. You see the friendly cart girls often during your round. The fairways and greens were in great shape. The pace of play was good and the Marshal made sure all players kept up with their pace of play. The new Arnie Bar is a great place to hang out after your round of golf. Also consider purchasing the Eagle Card which call save you money on your rounds of golf.
Love it!!
Great course! It gets better every time we play it
SLOW PLAY!!!
Fossil Creek Golf Course is a well maintained course and is one of the better courses in the area. Price per player was a great deal, but it was obvious that they over booked their tee times in the afternoon to compensate the lower rate.
We teed off at 3:00pm and did not finish until 8:25pm! (5+ hours!) We teed off on the 1st box with 2 - foursomes on the box in front of us!
We had a 5-15 minute wait on every tee box and in between holes!
I Recommend this course for its quality and condition only!
It's SLOW PLAY will cause ALOT of frustration and sitting time!
True Gem
This is my absolute favorite course to play anywhere. It's fun, and just challenging enough for the intermediate player. It's picturesque holes, and perfectly maintained greens are something you don't see much at DFW golf courses.
The only problems I've ever had is inexperienced starters not keeping the pace of play correct and letting a group of 5 play together even when busy. This is few and far between however.
Good Greens
The greens were in very good condition. The tee boxes were in decent condition but could be improved. Overall it was a good golf course to play.
This course is awesome!!!
This course has open shots tight shots blind shots and is very fun to play. I loved it.
Great Course
Nice facilities, great pace of play (Tuesday afternoon), friendly staff.
waiting
teed off 40 minutes after tee time because they did not have carts available
