The Club at Frisco Farms
About
The Club at Frisco Farms (formerly known as Plantation Golf Club) was created for the average golfer -- it's a user-friendly course where spectacular play is not required for a decent score. Playing only 6,400 yards from the tips and under 6,000 from the middle tees, the golf course isn't long, and it includes many par 4s that are nearly driveable. Erratic, careless play is punished, however, with out-of-bounds lining the fairways and water coming into play on a few holes. Those short par 4s in particular are all guarded by water. Two of The Club at Frisco Farms par-3 holes -- the 148-yard no. 7 and the 188-yard no. 17 -- each require players to carry water. Pace of play here is better than average because of the player-friendly layout.

Good value for the money.
I love the layout, but the greens and rough conditions were not so good. Lots of brown spots on the greens and muddy areas around the trees.
It still a great deal for the money, and you can book an early tee time on the weekend even if you are just booking for one person!! Challenging layout!!!
Really rough
Seems like every time I play plantation it doesn’t get any better. Some of the greens are in horrendous shape. So are some of the tee boxes. Most of the fairways are in really good shape. But I played a round yesterday in about 3 hours. Didn’t get held up until hole 12.
The course could be better
Poorly maintained green
Inconsistent green speeds through out 18 holes
Vary dry and hard pan fairways
Dirt (not sand) bunker
This course seems getting worse
The course is destroyed.
The course is in absolutely horrendous condition. Everything is destroyed. Everything….. greens, rough, tree lines, fairways, muddy cart paths , years of unraked leaves and cut grass.. It’s tragic…. Skip this course without fail. I’ve played here since 2007 fairly regularly and it’s never achieved the unbridled failure in course maintenance that it’s at this present time.
Meh
Played this course for the first time Saturday. Course layout isn’t ideal. Most trips to the next tee take you through a busy neighborhood. While I like playing strategic golf, too many holes force you to “place” every shot. Sometimes risks should be rewarded. This course eliminates the option with water hazards forcing you to lay up, and on three sides of numerous greens. Never in my life have I used a 7-iron that many times from the tee-box. The greens were in poor condition. Bouncy, recently aerated, and apparently no one repairs ball marks anymore. Wasn’t horrible, but definitely didn’t impress.
Rain out
We got rained out with lightning, only played 4 holes.
I talked to both the course Plantation and Golf Now and didn’t get any credit for not being able to play.
I would tell everyone that if there’s ever a question of weather don’t use Golf Now or Plantation, both are a rip off. They’ll take your money even if you can’t play!!!!!
Not a great course
Play here 2 times last week and it just a generic course with houses on every hole... not very "pretty" and play was incredibly slow. They layout needs to improve to pick up pace of play. The back 9 they make you do a bunch of shorter "placement" shots as water comes into play on many holes. Not that that is bad but it gets rather boring to go 7 iron and wedge every other hole.
Alright for the price
Layout was tiresome had to lay up on most holes. Water hazard placement was a little over kill. All in all it was cheap enough to cover the bad parts
Unmet potential
It's been raining a lot in Texas, so I knew going in that conditions would be soft. That being said, it hasn't rained in 2 days, and there was standing water on most of the fairways. The greens were very sanded, the bunkers hadn't been raked, and the tee boxes had not been moved or repaired in a long time. The driving range was closed, the beverage cart was "out" of red bull at 930am. The course layout was a welcome challenge, but couldn't make up for the nearly unplayable conditions.
Nice layout hampered by poor weekend pace of play.
The course has a nice layout that offers shot-making options for players of most skill levels. I understand the freeze impacted the course, but tree branches still laying along the fairways months later hampers the experience. Greens roll fair & consistent.
My biggest complaint is the pace of play on weekends. It doesn't seem to matter whether tee times are early or mid-afternoon. The last 4 rounds I played on the weekends are each 4:45 or longer. Last time out, at one point, there were 4 groups waiting for the tee starting at #12. The foursome in front of us would routinely hit between 5 and 7 balls off each tee the whole way around. The walking twosome ahead of them were no faster. Having a ranger, at least on weekends, would be a big help.
Nice course
Very wet due to lots of rain, nothing they can do about that. Greens were great and loved the layout.
Nice course
Great course for the price. Greens were running ok and still need some work but playable. In 3 weeks this course will be a 5. Will be back.
