The Club at Frisco Farms (formerly known as Plantation Golf Club) was created for the average golfer -- it's a user-friendly course where spectacular play is not required for a decent score. Playing only 6,400 yards from the tips and under 6,000 from the middle tees, the golf course isn't long, and it includes many par 4s that are nearly driveable. Erratic, careless play is punished, however, with out-of-bounds lining the fairways and water coming into play on a few holes. Those short par 4s in particular are all guarded by water. Two of The Club at Frisco Farms par-3 holes -- the 148-yard no. 7 and the 188-yard no. 17 -- each require players to carry water. Pace of play here is better than average because of the player-friendly layout.

Painful pace of play, fun course

This was my first time actually playing at the infamous Plantation course. The pros of the course were the layout, conditions off the tee boxes, and the greens played in a semi-challenging way. They ran much faster, and the breaks were not as harsh as you would think on several holes. The cons...it took us 3 hours to play 9 holes on Saturday 5/11. The Marshalls were present and tried to keep the play moving forward, but there was no such luck. After #4, we lost on average of 10 minutes of "pace time" per hole. By the end of 9, we simply did not have time to finish the round due to other commitments. I'd recommend this course on a weekday, but avoid it on the weekend.

Good track but not Great

This is a nice track that offers many different looks. Not overly difficult but requires you to pick your placement on many holes. Greens were a bit too sandy and inconsistent for my liking. Overall not a bad course to work on your game.

Great day for Golf, slow players though

Played course this past Thursday. Course was in real good shape. Had a couple of groups out there playing really slow. Look I get, sometimes it is going to be crowded and slower. But at least play ready golf!! Which NONE of these groups were. Called for a Marshall after spending 19 minutes on 14. No response. Little frustrating.

Good course for the price, buy soooo busy

I love this course! I just wish it was not so busy all the time. They could really benefit from having a marshal.

Great course for all player levels.

I've been playing Plantation since it opened ?? years ago. This is not a long course, even from the tips, but it does present some challenges if you're not careful. This is a course that the beginner can enjoy and the pro can hone his game on. The course, as always, is in good shape. All of the longer holes have big fairways, which is nice, the shorter holes still give you room but make you think; plenty of risk, not always a lot of reward, take what it gives you. The staff is always friendly. The food is good. I don't think I can ever remember a round when they didn't have a beverage cart; well done. This is a great little course that probably won't make you ooh-ahh like some of the high dollar venues around town, but it will definitely never disappoint, which is hard to say these days. Give it a try, you'll be glad you did.

Narrow Track/Great Greens

Ryan and the guys at Plantation really know what they are doing and provide a Well Kept course and Pro Shop. The course itself is Short and Narrow, but challenging and fun. Plantation always has some of the fastest greens around and is very well maintained. Great value for a Frisco hideaway.

Course if fun to play

Course has a lot of water hazards, which makes you actually lay up or hit short off the tee box instead of driving off the tee box every time. The greens were nice and manicured. Overall, fun course.

Nice Public Course, Lots of Water!!

Was my Japanese friend's first experience on a US golf course. He was amazed at how close the homes were to the fairways and tee boxes! Review the course before you go because there are a lot of water traps. Greens were fast even after a bit of rain. I'm sure they get better closer to Summer. We had a great time. Staff were helpful and friendly. I was surprised the carts were gas powered, maybe cause of some steep inclines? Anyway, not being picky this was a nice public course.

Fun course! Will be coming back to play again!

This round started off badly. There was a lot of people playing as expected on a nice Friday afternoon. Although they had enough carts for everyone to use, they did not have enough keys for the carts?! Then, I was supposed to get on at 1 but starter mistakenly told the clubhouse he had already paired me up with someone so I ended up having to wait an hour to get on with a group that had an opening. However, they were kind enough to provide me with a bucket of balls and coupons for free green fees for a later date which was cool. The course was fun. There's a lot of water and I swear houses line the fairways on every hole. I will go back just likely during an off time.

Good course to practice and improve your game if you are a beginner or intermediate golfer

Course is in decent shape. Some of the bunkers need some work - especially additional sand. Greens do not roll consistently.

Strategic course with great staff

This course have a lot of forced lay-ups, so my group rarely used the drivers. You really have to understand the hole before you tee up your ball.

The greens were slow on the Saturday we played, but the guys in the clubhouse told us they would be.

The staff was great. And the practice facilities were awesome, lots of tools and targets available.

This course is short, but fun.

I've played Plantation many times. My high school use to practice there, and I've always enjoyed it. Not a long course, but demanding on your tee shots. Greens seem to get beat up very eaily (player spike marks). Other than that They always have a cheap deal and makes it worth the while. Pace of play needs a little work, some players out there believe they're Tiger and need to learn when to pick up.

Great for the Money!

I've played a lot of municipal courses here in the DFW area but not Plantation so I was a little skeptical. I was pleasantly surprised at the practice facility, the clubhouse, the course condition, and the staff's attention to detail! The staff was courteous and welcomed me and my group! I will be back!
