Moody Gardens Golf Course
About
The Carlton Gipson-redesigned Moody Gardens Golf Course is one of the most difficult tracks in Texas, universally considered one of the top five municipals in the state. The Gulf winds pound the course and water comes into play on every hole. Even from the regular tees, the route rolls 6,816 yards, so short knockers are truly at a disadvantage.
Getting there : From I-45 south, exit 61st St. and turn right. Find Stewart and turn right, then turn right again on 99th Street. Drive to Sydnor Ln. and turn right-you'll see the entrance on the right side of the road.

Golfer Reviews
No Slice No Hook
Keep it in fairway play. Lotsa water, marsh, sand, and that’s not counting the wind. Not for hacker or you will be over 100. Still enjoyed being out.
PRETTY NICE
It was pretty nice but I thought it would be better.
A Hidden Value Gem
Have been golfing in Houston 15 years and have never and it down to moody gardens to play. Had a friend in town and weather was supposed to be better down south. Went in expecting a nice muni and was surprised with a super fun course. I would call it more a resort style course with some very wide fairways in certain areas. I don't think you can play another course with as much water/bay views for a better value. Would highly recommend.
Great round!
Great game the only problem was the mosquitoes. They were horrible but to be expected after rain they had in Galveston. Otherwise our round was great!!
Perfect
A little wet and windy. The course is in perfect conditions.
Always Nice
I travel to Galveston each year for time on this course. It's always in great shape, the staff very helpful and great pace of play. The fairways are very well maintained, tee boxes are great and the greens are always in good shape. My hats off to the staff!
People need to learn to fix ballmarks!
In addition to losing lots of palms to the winter freeze, the greens at this place are pock-marked as apparently no one knows how to fix a ball mark.....! The staff ought to handle out ballmark tools and instruct players on how to use them!!
Moody Gardens
Excellent layout with well maintained course on the Gulf Coast. Friendly and helpful staff made the day.
Moody Gardens
Absolutely must play this course. Always in nothing less than great shape. Nice layout. It can be challenging. Highly recommend!
Great Layout
Really enjoy playing Moody Gardens course. Pace of play was really slow yesterday because of an old Guys mini tournament. I can say that because I’m an old Guy. Nevertheless, it’s always a pleasure playing on Galveston’s beautiful nice public course.
Best round in a loooonnnnggggg time!
First time in many years that I broke 40 on each 9. Could not have done it without the superb course conditions. Thanks Moody Garden Golf Staff and most importantly the best Superintendent in the county!
Great layout, scenery and conditions. Lots of water and wildlife . Outstanding for a municipal.
Best greens in houston
Paspalum greens were unique and awesome. Fairways and rough were nice and well maintained. Tough course, but great condition for July (or anytime).
The Best City Course in Texas!
This is a very well maintained & groomed course! Lots of water, but laid out extremely well. Love # 18!!
If you're in Galveston GO HERE!
Unique and very fun.
Fun course with a very diverse collection of holes. The conditions were superb and so was the service and pace of play. Highly recommended.
Challenging but Great Golf Course
Four of us played using a discounted price found on this site. I hadn’t played this course since it was the old Galveston Municipal Golf Course many eons ago. Man, what a difference. The fairways and greens were almost immaculate – a true “resort type” of quality. Very challenging, especially with all the water and the prevailing winds. I would definitely play this course again at the discounted price.
Golf course comment fauls to recognize the POOR staff rating and assumes enjoyment of the round. Because the staff was rude, unhelpful and oblivious to customer relations, the round was less than enjoyable. The course is nice, but it takes more than that to enjoy a round. Also BRING BUG SPRAY. MOSQUITOES ARE PROBLEM. But nice turf
