About

The Carlton Gipson-redesigned Moody Gardens Golf Course is one of the most difficult tracks in Texas, universally considered one of the top five municipals in the state. The Gulf winds pound the course and water comes into play on every hole. Even from the regular tees, the route rolls 6,816 yards, so short knockers are truly at a disadvantage.

Getting there : From I-45 south, exit 61st St. and turn right. Find Stewart and turn right, then turn right again on 99th Street. Drive to Sydnor Ln. and turn right-you'll see the entrance on the right side of the road.

Was pleased to see they are working hard to improve course conditions! Fairways were very good, bunkers much improved. Greens recently aerated, so slow, but gotta do it. Good value!

Great, even with punched greens.

The course is magnificent. Love to take on the challenge, admire the views, cuss at the wind.

Putting was...well, not really putting. Greens had been recently aerated and were bumpy and sandy (I knew when I booked the round).

And it was still fun.

Nice driving range and putting green before the 1st tee. Course gets more difficult as the holes progress. Wind is also a factor. You will be fairly challenged.

Moody Gardens Golf Club

Upon arrival at the course, the staff was friendly and helpful with making me familiar with the course layout.

My only disappointment was that there was a girls high school tournament ahead of us and their pace of play was horrendous. We played the front nine twice so that we were not having a six hour round. I would loved to have played the back nine.

Greens were fast, but as with many coastal courses, poiana grass caused some problems with putting.

Starter, Pro Shop and rangers were all very friendly and helpful.
