Not worth it
This was enticing because of the location and the low price but the problem was the condition of the course was very poor, there was trash everywhere along the edges of most holes and the fairways were mostly dirt. There were large puddles and muddy spots around the edges of the greens. The pace of play was embarrassing the day I played, we had a group of three and had a newer golfer in the group but would still see 2-3 groups stacked up on THE SAME TEE BOX only a hole or two ahead. We played for 4/12 hours and finally called it a day on hole 16 as it was starting to get dark and there was still no staff in sight to keep things moving. I will not be back.
OK course, but there are better options in the DFW Area
Course was fine but forgettable. Surprising that they open the "pro shop" at 6:50AM when you can book a 7:00AM tee time. I personally wouldn't play it again.
Nice neighborhood course
Visiting from Houston, looked for a round of golf and unfortunately all the good courses were country clubs. The other courses near Allen were very poorly rated. Chose this more so as a last resort.
I was not too disappointed, the price was right. Staff was adequate. Seemed like a one man show in the temporary trailer pro shop. I was first one out at 7:00 and blew through the course in 2.5 hrs. Front 9 fairways and greens were consistent with a muni level course. Back 9 greens seemed to be a big improvement.
Overall a pleasant experience. It’s an aging course with pretty decent maintenance. If I lived nearby wouldn’t be too opposed to play this as home course. If you’re visiting from out of town, you’ll find this course to be adequate. It’s no country club, but also far far from being a dirt track like some of the other public courses nearby.
Hidden Gem
I forget about this course. They have leveled their pro shop and are working out of a trailer, but other than that everything is in good order. The course was in decent shape for the harsh weather conditions in DFW. I was supposed to be paired up with another group but as the course was not busy they told me to just go ahead and play I front of them. I passed one other two-some they kindly let me play through and finished my round in under 3 hours. The greens were decent and the pin placements were challenging. All-in-all it was a great round and a lot fun for the price. Would have been five stars if they had a bev cart, and if I didn’t have to hit off the mats for warm-up. But really not complaining! Good job guys.
Great Course
Course was overall in great shape/condition. Our round lasted 5 hours and 50 minutes. Played on Memorial Day so I’m sure this isn’t always the case, but it was my first time out there and have no other experience. Greens were rolling really well- probably a 9- and fairways were in good shape too.
Sunday at duck Creek
Great value! Good layout. Greens are in decent shape, few rough spots but all in all decent. Love the price!
Slowly improving
Would I compare Duck Creek to Pebble Beach? No. Do I think it’s a decent value during the week? Yes!
Temper your expectations when playing here. Over the last year I’ve noticed the course conditions vastly improving - Greens coming in and rolling better. Fairways growing in. Pace of play was not bad at all.
Fun layout and engaging round when you’re looking to get out and have some fun. With a long list of courses around DFW showing declining conditions, it’s nice to see one trying to improve.
Not worth your time and money
The computer system was down when we checked in. Driving range was closed. They had no food available. They had no tap beer available due to no CO2. Checkin guy could not sell beer or mixed drinks because he hasn’t had the training. It’s an operational mess.
It’s a second rate golf course and not worth your time or money.
Memorial Day Golf
The course is in really good shape. Greens are rolling well. Played on Memorial Day so I can’t blame the course for the pace of play. They have a “rule” about having no more than four golfers per group but I guess they made a holiday exemption. I would play it again
Starting to shape up
I had an early tee time and the pace of play was pretty good. The course is looking really good and I think the staff is doing a good job getting it back in shape. Although the greens were nice, some were bumpy and can probably be smoothed out in the future. Couple of greens did have some issues but that’s to be expected with a Course on the rebound. The staff was pleasant. It will be interesting to see if they will rebuild the clubhouse after the fire or keep the temporary mobile clubhouse permanent. Seems to be working right now.
I love playing this course
I Iive in McKinney but I will drive 35 minutes to play duck creek it’s a cool layout perfect for me the staff is always nice so yeah I will continue to play there as long as I can. Sincerely Ralph Savois
What a long day
Took 6 hours to play the 18 for starters. No one’s fault but the course. Too many people stacked up on top of each other. We were on first name basis with guys in front and behind us, because of how much time we hung out between holes. Few holes were 3 groups behind. Greens were pretty bad, tee boxes were pretty hard, no places to sit for walkers. I was sympathetic of their situation to accept their poor customer service for the price of golf, but now it’s extremely expensive. Never again
Enjoy the lovely cart key I got
Get what you pay for
Rude person at pro shop not friendly and condescending. Allowed a group of 7 play who showed up 30 mins after their tee time. Horrible pace of play and poorly managed course. 3rd time playing course and all have been bad this will be my last time playing at Duck Creek. Sadly the course is nice and the greens aren’t bad, just so poorly managed.
Overall absolute garbage. I never seen anything so trashy in my life. The only positive was the people working the hot dog stand in a ocean container
Duck Duck Creek
The Good:
The course is a bit of a jenky layout but its in better shape than it has been in a while. Greens are true, fairways are lush, tee boxes decent. The rough is long a d tough to find your ball but that's kinda your fault.
Oh and the carts are practically new. Nice!
Bad: The Clubhouse burnt down so the pro shop as it were is in trailer. There's also no on course cart beverage service.
The Ugly: There was maybe 20 cars in the parking lot and we weren't able to get our cart until 10 minutes before the tee time. Which is dumb (like Mesquite but worse) so you have to schlep your clubs to the range and putting green as well.
To.make matters worse, they sent off one group after another of just twosome so the course wasn't busy but still clogged up so pace of play suffered.
Also dumb.
Jenky course, nice condition, no facilities slow play and dumb policies...you get what you pay for!!
