Rangefinder stolen
Rangefinder stolen right off my bag in the few minutes it took to check in. I know this isn't the greatest course in the area, but dang ... Pretty sad. Area and course must really be going downhill.
Pace of play also terrible, staff started some folks on back 9 so it caused huge backlog.
Great deal
Going out late in the day when it is hot means the course is pretty uncrowded. I like to play fast and even thought I caught up to a twosome and a foursome, it was easy to skip ahead and complete 18 holes in just over 2 hours.
The course is in decent shape, greens for the most part are excellent, although it looks like some idiot took divots on a couple of greens.
Fairways while not lush are good.
The layout is fair with some challenging tee shots needed.
A fun course.
Nice Course
An excellent place to play. Good layout, pretty good shape and little traffic at this time of day. (3:30).
The only negative was the gentleman behind the counter was on the phone for about 7 minutes with his back to the counter and never acknowledged me. Not a big deal, but he should have just held up his finger to say it might be a few minutes.
I hope to get back soon.
Duck Creek Has Improved!
The last time I played Duck Creek it was in rough condition - greens, fairways and tee boxes.
Today's round was a significant improvement - greens are grown in, smooth and putt-able. Fairways are green, well mowed and the ball gets plenty of roll.
Overall, a very nice experience on every hole.
If you have been avoiding Duck Creek I would encourage you to give it a try - I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
Rough around the edges
When I first drove up to this course I thought it looked quite unkempt - I mean - it looked very poor - I'm thinking "why in the world did I pick this course?" - I saw it had average reviews and some were not flattering at all..Having said that a hot deal for 13 dollars on a friday afternoon was very tempting so i took the bait..The course is definitely below average maintained BUT I did like the layout on several holes - This could be a really neat course if it was invested and maintained properly. SO after all of that I will consider coming back but only for hot deals.. There is NO WAY I will pay more than 20 dollars per round..
Nice course
Duck Creek is still a nice course, good conditions, and once the clerk behind the pro shop counter stopped watching Yourube videos long enough to notice me, my wife and I enjoyed a windy round of golf.
Very rude staff, not willing to help at all, wired rain check policy
Definitely one star, if I could give negative star I will;
The staff at the pro shop is very rude and not willing to help anyone, it was a cold rainy Saturday, the temperature literally dropped down below the freezing point, we were so cold and because of the rain the grip became very slippery, so we decided to call it a day and was trying to get a rain check; we were just trying our luck on the rain check but what was waiting for us was a stone cold "NO" from the guy at the counter, just NO, noting else; when I called in the second day, I was informed that unless there was THUNDER STORM, they are not offering any rain check;
Be honest the green and the fairway looks okay for me, but the staff at the shop really really makes me uncomfortable, it looks like they do not care about any golfer or return golfer, all they want is their $42 bucks, that's it;
Only Players on the course
A cold and blustery Texas day in April, temps around 35-40 degrees...Only 2 players on the course so we finished in just over 3.5 hours. Course has some quirky holes, but all in all a good layout. Greens are small, but receptive and rolling great. Round included a beverage as well, perk we had not expected. Danny was a gracious host and we enjoyed the day despite the weather. As spring comes on, this course will be primed to be played.
The 2017 winter was brutal on all courses around this area. This course had not recovered. Duck Creek overflowed several times making the fairways muddy and lies very tight. It is easy to chuck every shot "fat." Many bare areas where ponding killed the grass. Greens are slower than usual. Many tee boxes slant (are not level) and are bare / divot ridden due to not be maintained. Many muddy bare areas near fairways are really hazards. Course owner is not investing in this course. Carts are slow, unreliable, and poorly maintained. Let's hope the superintendent gets enough money to put it back together by April. There is a great course to play, but the scars of neglect make it almost unplayable right now.
It's Still Golf
The greens have always been decent but now they are infested with weeds that make putting nearly impossible. The pace and layout make it worth a buck a hole however.
Always fun to play. Conditions not worth $40.
Greens were in terrible condition. Balls were bouncing up and down due to weed roots. Fairway grass was longer than normal.
Course was in good shape. easy to get on. No cart girl!!! I'm finding this more frequently on more than just this course.
Poor fairways
Fairways and tee boxes in poor condition. Greens are in good shape. Good value for the money.
Off the back nine and stabbed in the back on the front
Mike was friendly and talkative as I waited on my friend to arrive. He is an older man and kept me entertained with several stories about coaching basketball, serving in the Army, and a black coach of whom he spoke well. He sent us off the back nine telling us that no one was going off the front because a tournament that started at 5:30. He said that we would have plenty of time to finish. We finished the back in under 2 hours. We went to hole# 1 to discover that 5 groups where on that hole. We asked Mike about it and he showed me who he really was. He was rude and rebelled as the Pro told him to give us a return pass for 9 holes. We where insulted publicly in front of other customers. My friend became angry and walked out leaving the course. I calmly tried to reason with Mike without success. He ignored me and then continued his condescending conversation as he refused to do what the Pro told him with the Pro standing right there. Finally, he responded and I stated that I would not return to Duck Creek to play again. I am an African American minister. My friend is Mexican and a 1 handicap golfer with extensive experience in this industry. All of this embarrassment happened in the presence of several men who were not our ethnicity. We paid! We should have been treated like customer instead of suspects. I am hard pressed to believe that Mike would have behaved this way with the other men standing in the room.
