Great Day of Golf with Friends
Best course in town, for a no rush afternoon... easy pace of play, with your friends... Extreenly courteous staff, and proshop... Lots of challenges, so hitt'en straight... Or bring plenty of balls... :))
Great course for the money
Great course for the money
Great course
Great course but bunkers have been left to have grass and weeds grow in. Need to bring the bunkers back or make them part of the fairway not having a rough lie in the middle of the fairway or to chip out of.
A nice experience
The course is very playable. I would recommend it most to somebody you wants a fairly low stress round. Pretty flat, no blind shots, greens in good shape but not complicated, tiered or undulating. Very good players will be fairly bored so if you are looking for a good test this probably isn't worth your time. The fees and service are very good for the money and a BIG bonus was that is was very wide open for a beautiful weekend day. Playing fast as a twosome was very nice. Drink cart with friendly staff was a plus.
Pretty run down
I hate to give such a harsh review, but this course has certainly seen better days. Berthing is pretty run down: parking lot, tennis courts are run down, pool is drained and over grown with weeds. All the rough areas are overgrown and unkept. The greens are decent, fairways are ok. Course is a little difficult, but an interesting layout. I'm not sure who bought this place or what their plans are to make it nice again, but it's pretty bad out there. But it's a cheap round of golf in the city if you get the $15 round on GolfNow, but I'd rather spend an extra $5-$10 and play Firewheel.
Challenging course
Fairways are in great condition. And the greens are rolling :).
I recommend a map lay-out at each hole for guidance. Idea for increasing the pace.
Courtesy would be nice...
It would have been nice to know there was a kids camp scheduled. Apparently it was added last minute by the pga and those of us who had already paid/were playing the course we're forced to "endure" the experience . The kids were fine, the parents..not so much. Crowding tee boxes , talking loudly at said tee boxes and basically taking over holes just because. I love the layout of the course, clubhouse manager was awesome..only thing lacking..courtesy from parents in a kids camp. I guess etiquette is not taught during this camp. Sad, very sad.
A Crystal in the Rough
This course is decent but has potential to be very nice. The "club house" and practice facility have seen better days but the course itself was a pleasant surprise once you got past the parking lot impression. The greens were already turning but they were in good shape and rolled very nice. Fairways were also good and the tee boxes were hard but level. Course could use some additional attention in the rough areas. five feet off the fairway and there was chance to lose your ball due to the high grass. Overall, for twilight price of $20 it was worth it and I like to play it again to redeem myself on hole 18. Cross the creek twice.
Fairways not kept up
Overall, the experience was good. The greens were in good shape, however the fairways were terrible and needed cutting. If the grass was cut on the fairways I would definitely recommend the course.
Saturday Afternoon golf
Duck Creek fairways were in good shape with all the recent rain. At first play was slow because a group in front was slow. After by passing this group, play moved at a good pace.
I'd play here again, why not?
I paid $30 for this course and I'd say that it was right on the money. The staff were VERY NICE people. I cannot say that enough. A tournament started about an hour and a half before we did so we were waiting an avg of 2-5 minutes before playing each hole. The course was decent. I've played in some really cruddy courses and this was nowhere near these. BUT it definitely was not the most premier. The course was nice just you have to navigate through the neighborhood a little. Definitely a narrow course as a couple of balls landed in someone else's fairway a couple of times. Will definitely play here again though!
Duck Creek again
Not much has changed since the 80's, even after the reopening. It is a great course for renewing or learning the game. Enjoy golf at good rates.
Greens Are Small And Undulating
The difficulty for me on course was the hole position on the small undulating greens. Yardage is poorly marked, luckily my cart partner had a yardage watch.
Green rolled well.
Gracious and accommodating!
Immediately we felt welcomed. Regulars were friendly, staff was helpful. The course needs some weed-be-gone. Tees and greens were in great shape for February. Crossing the Creek twelve times was trying, being the first time there. Didn't see the crossing a few times, so lost some balls. Only negative is the Creek needs cleaning up by staff or volunteer members. Can easily see the course and surroundings were a special place years ago. This will be a gem in a few seasons. Randy, the bartender, makes a standout special. He's a great ambassador for the place. In fact, I asked him if he was an owner. He wasn't!
Place in shambles
I played early Sunday morning. Walked with a friend and paid $42 (walking price was same as cart price).
This place is a mess. Driving range tee grass was bad and uneven and the range itself was about as ugly as any I've ever seen.
The course itself needs a lot of TLC. Tee boxes could only be identified by markers and fairways were undistinguishable from the rough. The high point was the greens - they were very good. Not a lot of bunkers, but the ones I looked at were in bad shape.
The course needs mowing and a lot of overdue upkeep - bunkers, lots of broken ball washers, broken up cart paths, etc.
I paid $42 cart rate (and walked). I'd say their cart rate should be in the $25 weekend range and $18 on weekdays to be competitive with other courses in the area.
If it weren't for 20+ mph winds, the course would have been very easy.
Enjoyable Day At The Duck
Schedule worked out at the last minute to get a round of golf in Sunday afternoon. So loaded up the girlfriend and headed over.
Duck Creek used to be a Private CC back in the day and had been shut down for some time. It has the character of a older style course with smallish greens and relatively no bunkers. Water does come into play on several holes but nothing overly evil. Course was in okay shape for the time of year but could use some TLC which I believe they are working on.
The only negative that I took away from my experience would be pace of play. I can see where when prime golfing season hits you could easily be waiting between every shot the way they schedule their tee times.
Overall a nice and enjoyable experience.
Busy busy
I played on a Sunday afternoon in an attempt to get some practice in later in in the afternoon. Apparently I was not the only one with that idea. It took about 10 minutes to checked in because nobody was in the club house, and another 10 minutes to cart after that. The place was packed out, and when we finally got to the tee box we were 4 groups deep waiting to play. I liked the layout of the course, and hopefully they aren't usually that packed, or I won't be back. If they didn't overbook tee times I believe the overall experience would have been much better, but at least the conditions were decent for January.
Great Course
This course is in good shape and they do a great job maintaining it. The greens were in great shape and rolled very true. I will defiantly be going back to play it again.
Decent Winter Greens
Greens are decent for winter conditions. Rest of the course is below average. Review may be biased as I played here before when it was Oakridge CC. So many strategic trees and bunkers have been removed it's a shell of what it used to be.
