Hard Rock Golf Club at Cana Bay
About
The Hard Rock Golf Club at Cana Bay is situated along the white sand shores of the stunning mangrove-lined Macao Beach, conveniently located near the Punta Cana International Airport. Designed by Jack Nicklaus, the golf course is yet another outstanding design in his repertoire. Nicklaus carefully preserved the rich natural surroundings to ensure that the beauty of the Dominican landscape was kept at the forefront. The layout's rolling fairways and greens weave through native flora and fauna, providing golfers with a truly unique round in a tropical setting. There are expansive lakes that come into play on several holes as well as numerous strategically placed bunkers throughout.

Scammers in the pro shop, terrible conditions, construction everywhere
This was an awful experience. As soon as we got to the pro shop and said we paid through golf now, they immediately went to my fiancé and said she needs to buy a shirt with a collar to play. I was irate as I checked their website prior to make sure there was no mention of collared shirts being required for women. I even brought up the pdf from their website that says collars are only required for men and showed it to the woman in the pro shop. She said that has recently changed and wasn’t updated on the website. Any reasonable person would allow her to wear her collarless shirt after being presented with this. They refused. At this point we were stuck with a non refundable reservation and had to buy one of their “collared shirts”. There is about a quarter inch of collar on these. During my argument the pro shop lady also said “well how much did you pay for the round with golf now”. They clearly have pulled this scam before and are probably targeting golf now users.
The mens rental clubs have probably been through 1000 rounds and are complete garbage.
The front nine of the course is absolute trash from tee to green. There is major construction taking place on every hole. Collared shirts for women being required is a complete joke.
Love the course & staff
Overall a great place to golf. The staff is extremely friendly. Some course maintenance required, but minimal. Carts need the covers to protect golf clubs in rainy conditions. The new golf carts are fun to drive but lack some of the necessities. For example there is no place to put a couple golf balls, again no cover for club protection, no club/ball washers and the cooler needs to be attached to the side, not in the tiny basket behind the seat.
Decent course but not well kept
Fairways were not in great condition. Greens were very slow and haven’t been cut in quite some time. Carts and rentals are in rough shape.
Not worth full price
Arrived 30 min b4 tee time and was told they were running 30 min late. Then went to the first tee to see 2 foursomes on the hole and another waiting to tee off. After 3 hours, we quit at the turn. Course was not in shape for the rates they were charging ($ 250) Luckily, I scored a decent rate via a Hot deal. Otherwise, we would have been extremely upset over everything. Staff asked why we were leaving and told them and they just shrugged their shoulders. I felt we wasted $ 170 for the two of us to play. This was the fourth course we played this week and had no issues anywhere else.
Greens
Everything was great except we played towards the end of the day and the greens were incredibly slow
Worth playing
Course was in great shape and I enjoyed playing here. I was paired with 2 other players that were pretty cool and I ended up playing here twice. I would have given this course 5 stars but there wasn’t any real food to eat here. The range balls were trash and the carts were too. Not sure how the Hard Rock isn’t embarrassed by this. To me, any course that’s over $150 bucks should have GPS and you won’t find them here.
Just ok
Greens were sanded about three weeks ago, and they still have a lot of sand on them. Cart service was not good until we complained. We did not even see a cart person until the seventh hole. The clubhouse was under construction and when we got off the course, the bar. What's already closed.
I knew going in!
I knew going in that the course had maintenance going on and I did get a decent deal through Golf Now but still excessive for the maintenance that was going on. The carts are run down a little and the fairways were a little high. I did like the course it can be a five star! The ProShop was closed due to refurbishment so bummed out a little about that. I do feel it would have a better rating from me if I would have paid a little less to balance out but all in all I will definitely recommend the course and I will be back.
OK ISH. Expect it will improve.
Clubhouse was being refurbished. So was basically a but. Driving range ok. But balls were very tired.
Course ok. Not the most interesting and lots of wasteland. Loads of building going on around course. Suspect as it fills up will improve.
Think there's better options and better value locally. .
A must play if you are in the punta cana area
This is a resort golf course, but noneless is in beautiful conditions! Not too many people out there so I was able to play in 3 hours. Staff very friendly.
Hard Rock is soft on gold experience
I was a bit shock that the course was akin to a local muni course. The practice areas was less to be desired with an assortment of used and cracked ranged balls. The course was decent with slow green. The course was fairly easy, but unmanicured greens and fairways made it more challenging.
Downhill
Every time I go to this course, it seems to be in worse shape. A driving range balls or ridiculously terrible
Going downhill
Greens were slow and bumpy. Driving range was not in good shape at all. And the bulls at the driving range, we're terrible. There was no way to tell which part of the green pins were on cause. There's no type of marker or color. And some of the yardage markers on the side were off by twenty or thirty yards. I played there three or four months ago, and it was in much better shape.
Great Value Caribbean Golf
Was a little concerned about course condition after using the range and practice green before starting my round. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the course. Overall, the course from tee to green was in generally good shape. There were some burn out spots here and there in fairway, the sand traps were not the best (with small rocks in the sand), and greens were very slow and a bit spongy. All in all, it was fun, interesting layout with a few exceptionally visually stunning holes particularly on the back side.
Certainly, not the nicest course in DR, but for the price I felt it was a good value for a Caribbean golf experience!
Nice course
It was a good round and the course is pretty well maintained but the price is a little steep. I probably won’t golf there again but it was cool to experience it once.
The course at Hard Rock Punta Cana
This is an amazing course that flows so nice. The greens are in very good shape along with amazing fairways. The bunkers we great, with ŵhite soft sand.. Then when we finished we went in the Pro shop, the staff was very friendly and helpful. We bought gifts for my parents that play golf and a couple golf outfits for my wife, and I got a shirt. My overall rating for Hard Rock golf course is a 10.
