Mellomar Golf Park - Par-3 Course
Wow what a difference!
Well it’s been 6+ weeks since last time we played here and it’s definitely much better than it was. The greens still need some work but the grass on the fairways is a lot better than it’s been in a long time, the tee boxes even look good. There are a few of them(Tee box) that it looks like who ever reseeded was drunk or didn’t know how to drive a tractor. There is nice green grass growing and then a line of weeds.
Not quit there yet
I play here often the course isn’t that bad years ago when Doc first opened it was a great place even the short par 3 course was awesome to play. The tee boxes, fairways, sand bunkers and greens were in great shape then it’ was sold was good for a while but started going down fast and now Doc is the owner again. Last year he tried his best to get the greens back up this winter he has done a lot of cleaning up cutting down bushes and fixing the tee boxes. I wish he would fix a few of the sand bunkers to give it a little more challenging holes. Once the weather breaks the greens should bounce up the fairways are looking better as well. For only 9 holes it’s not the best but at least we have a place other than Chesapeake to play in Calvert county. It would be great if they could add 9 more holes we need another course in Calvert.
Doc it trying!
We play here about once a week depending on whats available and time. Doc has really done a lot of work on thrall of the holes this past winter, cut down a lot of bushes has been working on the tee boxes and greens as well as the fairways. Some of the grass is starting to come up and turn green but not much, rite now a lot of the greens are like putting on gravel all of the tee boxes look like they have been reseeded last month some them were marked off. Next thing they need to do is work on the bunkers and get some sand back in them. I believe the course should be pretty nice this year for being just a 9 hole course and mostly locals supporting the place. I remember when the par3 course and the par 9 was busy all the time.
They took the plane away I was disappointed that thing has been there since they day they opened.
They have a new mini golf course it opened at the end of last summer.
Worse course ever
Nothing good to say about this course. They are way over priced. The course is in horrible shape and they are not doing anything to improve it. The greens are so chewed up that you cant line up a put for nothing. Ball just bounces across the green. The horse flies are terrible and they dont spray anything to control them. You would figure for the high price you pay to play there they would be trying to improve the course, but no the money is going in to build a put put course. When you mention anything to them about the issues with the course they tell you if you dont like ot go play somewhere else. Dont waste your money on this one
Wanted to play a quick round nearby and the course is progressively getting worse year after year. I paid $29 for 9 holes and a cart and the greens are slower than if you were to putt on a nice fairway. Some of the greens are 100% crab grass where there is no roll. I am not a snob but it's just ridiculous to call it a golf course.
Overpriced and Poor Conditions
I have grown up playing this course and the conditions have been the worst I've ever seen. I am not a particular snob in regards to course conditions. Ever since the management change, the course conditions have gone drastically down hill. None of the staff look like they enjoy their job. My group was forced to leave the course with an hour of daylight still left to play by one of the course workers. The prices and conditions need to improve before I play at this course again.
