Lake Presidential Golf Club
About
Lake Presidential Golf Club is one of Maryland's most popular public courses. It is a challenging championship layout that is player friendly enough to accommodate a wide range of skill levels. It stands out from run-of-the-mill municipal courses with exceptional conditions from the tees to the greens. The layout offers a diverse mix of holes that will have golfers using every club in their bag. There are some especially interesting par 3s that are visible but with enough hazards to make them a challenge. Houses border the front nine holes but they are absent on the back nine. The fairways on the last nine holes are densely lined with mature trees. The golf course finishes with an enjoyable par 5 that plays over a lake. It can be reached in two with a little skill and accuracy.

Awful experience - Horrendous Pace of Play with no water coolers anywhere to be found on hot hot day
I can't describe what a disappointment this course is both times I've played it. The pace of play is the slowest I've ever come across on any course in the US and have played well over a 100 courses. Well known resort courses don't play as slow as this course which has to do with their horrendous spacing and just the difficulty the course presents.
We played on a day with a heat index of close to 110 and we didn't get through the round. We threw in the towel at hole #14 because we were on a 6 hour and 15 mintue pace to play 18 holes. It was THAT bad.
To top it off, there wasn't a single water cooler on the entire course. Nothing. No coolers with water bottles, no igloos, just absolutely no way to get water except a cart girl that we didn't see until the literal turn. Go buy some freaking coolers and get water on your course on record breaking head index days! Then they wanted $2.29 for water bottles int he club house and $5 for gatorades, just a total selfish money making racket at this place. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. They don't care about the golfers health and safety. Clear as day.
The course could be fun, conditions weren't horrendous but certainly nothing to write home about.
Not great
Course is tight, with too many blind shots. Shots that you’d expect to find in the fairway disappear.
Plan for a long day, with no marshals enforcing pace of play. Great last minute price on GolfNow, so at least there is that.
Mixed feelings
The course has an interesting, but difficult design. Very hilly and scenic. Overall condition was good, but tee boxes were substandard & need work. Lots of divots that need repair in fairways, Greens were in good shape.
Carts were not good - GPS quit after 10 holes. Carts go dead without warning and you have to back up to cart path. Can be dangerous because of hills. Could use some stairs at some tee boxes. Cart experience really detracted from enjoyment.
Course
The biggest thing , way to overbook. There was no Marshall to coach players along. It more about the buck vs the expectation. The customer service feel was weak.
No one greeted me in the pro shop.
The snack bar had no one there
No food, sandwiches/ hot dogs available at the bar
I had a tee time at -10:31 and had to wait 30 minutes past that to tee off!
The course was way over booked!!
The golf cart beverage cart had nothing but small bag snacks for a 9 holes
@ 3 plus hours
No person were at the return of the cart, yep had to ask whether to leave in the cart
So I will go back on a slow day to see if the experience is different
Will pack a lunch and plenty of water and drinks to survive the round
Excellent course and staff
Excellent course and staff, a little expensive, but great overall
Undecided
The course itself was fine. The pace if play was slow. The fact that most of the course was of limits to carts was ridiculous. The course is overpriced.
Great condition, challenging layout
Course was in very nice condition, excellent greens, not many straight putts, lots of carry shots and to score it is best to play a draw most of the time. Thankfully, I can draw the ball, so it was an enjoyable round. You do need to calculate the yardage before every shot, even off the tee, to stay out of trouble and score. Great course.
Good course
I am back playing golf after about 15 years and am loving it. We chose a weekday afternoon in early summer and it couldn’t have nicer. Course is challenging and in decent shape
Horrible Pace of Play
Tee times are 9 mins apart, I think it’s a very greedy practice by club for a course relatively difficult for average golfer, played here twice both times weekday, 6+ hours for 18 holes, miserable…. they have at least 3-4 long holes that are no car path which contributes pace of play, even east Potomac has faster pace than this place.
Challenging course
We played late afternoon on a Monday. There was a tournament earlier in the day so some fairways had a large amount of divots but overall the course, greens etc were wonderful
Not good.
Course was totally packed - no starter to get people off properly. No Marshalls on the course. Played 9 holes in two and a half hours and didnt stay for the second nine. Extremely hot and there was not a single water station on the front nine. Left after nine as we waited on every tee box for at least 5 to 8 minutes.
Awesome hidden gem
Played this course early morning and it was great. The guy at the pro shop was super nice. The golf carts are awesome and the course overall was fantastic. The only thing I would say is I wish people would fix their divots. It seemed like every green had quite a few.
snoozfest
We played this course last year in July I believe and we had a three hour nine so we asked for rain check for remaining nine hole they said no problem and then we came back later in the year same issue we played nine in three hours got a rain check and that brings us to today we ran into same problem but they told our rain checks have expired and we paid $109 to play on a course that’s condition is of a $45 golf course. Today we said no more rain check we’re not coming back for this crap again so five hours fifty minutes later were we’re done. They overbooked the course and do not give two shakes if you enjoy your round
Pace of Play was Horrible
I have never played a slower round in my life. I knew we were in trouble when there was no carts available because of a charity golf tournament earlier that day. Then there was a line to tee of on the 1st hole. When it took us 1 hour and 45 minutes to play 5 holes, I knew even though our team time was at 3pm and sunset was at 745/8pm there was no way we would finish the round. And we didn't, finally giving up from lack of light and energy on the 14 hole and 4 1/2 hours later. Which I heard from other golfers the course is infamous for. Course layout was nice and conditions were ok but I cannot spend money to spend hours waiting in golf carts. Will not play here again.
