Lake Presidential Golf Club

About
Lake Presidential Golf Club is one of Maryland's most popular public courses. It is a challenging championship layout that is player friendly enough to accommodate a wide range of skill levels. It stands out from run-of-the-mill municipal courses with exceptional conditions from the tees to the greens. The layout offers a diverse mix of holes that will have golfers using every club in their bag. There are some especially interesting par 3s that are visible but with enough hazards to make them a challenge. Houses border the front nine holes but they are absent on the back nine. The fairways on the last nine holes are densely lined with mature trees. The golf course finishes with an enjoyable par 5 that plays over a lake. It can be reached in two with a little skill and accuracy.

Nice course in nice condition
Played as a single and joined another single and he was a comparable player, so it was a good time playing. Course was in nice condition, I was able to hit every fairway, unlike the other golfer who went into the rough numerous times and due to the high volume of leaves in the rough, he lost a few balls. No leaves in the fairway, which was nice of the maintenance crew. Greens rolled a bit slow, but were still nice to play on. I enjoyed the round.
Need a starter/ranger
To group people appropriately and also to assist slow groups that hold up the course. I used to caddy at Muirfield Village in Columbus, and this course is every bit as good,
Poor management
ACE OF PLAY IS HORRIBLE. There was no communication of Frost delay to later tee times (I had 12:30). Staff was unorganized to get groups out to recover from frost delay.
Fees for GolfNow
Please include the hidden fees in what you advertise is the cost for the round. It’s very discouraging to think you paid $36 and then find out after you are charged that it was $47. Bush league tactic. I probably won’t use golf now in the future.
Customer Service
Greetings
I have played Lake Presidential several times over the years and have always enjoyed it up until my most recent visit. I am a veteran and sometimes I have issues with my knees or ankles and the day I played, it decided to act up.....after 9 holes of which roughly 6 were played due to me inability to turn on my left ankle so after 9 I decided to.depart so I asked if I could get a rain check and told Chris I believe was his name that I was having some physical difficulty and would like a rain check........with not a glimmer of customer service skills he simply said no and since it was after 1, you play as many holes as you can since I was only charged 50 dollars.........I understand that this is a business but had I of known that my body would decide to not cooperate then chances are I would have stayed home vs donating my 50 dollars to a course which hires employees who don't seem to care or lack the tack to deliver policy in a less offensive way.....perhaps he was having a bad day as well.....we never know what people have on their plate.....I have no hard feelings with the young man but would appreciate a little appreciation for patronizing the course because my dollars play a part.in keeping the doors open. Thanks

Terrible pace and greens
I used to love this course. The greens are long and lumpy. Pace was terrible. Why would you just put 2 some out at a time. Pair them up. Played 4 holes in 1.5hrs. I left right after.

We apologize for the negative experience you had with our golf course. We appreciate your feedback and will take it into consideration to improve our greens and pacing. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review.
Marshals needed
Clubhouse could use some staff, waisted dinning area. Pace of play was horrendous as usual.

Excellent course
Layout has alway been great and challenging. Conditions were good, although soaked in areas.
One big criticism though, no beverage cart and food inside. Limited refreshment choices! Not sure what’s up with that.

Race to the Bottom
This Great course is racing to the bottom, not because it’s not a great course but due to poor management and poor decision making by the person(s) in charge .
For starters Aerating a course a week to a major two day tournament is bad business.
Aerating when the tournament is in progress is suicidal for any golf course not mentioning unethical any way you look at it.
This did happen during my three days of playing golf on this otherwise great course on October 8th, 10th and 11th 2023.
Truth be told I will never set foot on this course ever again in my golf life and not a dime of my money will go there directly or indirectly thanks to the course management.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused during your visit to our golf course. We appreciate your feedback and will take it into consideration as we continue to improve our management and decision-making processes. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
Aeration During a Two Day MSGA Tournament
Played at Lake Presidential for the Maryland Senior Open.
120 of the best golfers in Maryland converged on this “Great “PGA owned and operated golf course.
The course was recently Aerated, Informative that should have been conveyed to the major tournament organizers… for them to decide whether to hold the tournament there or not under those conditions.
On the first day of the tournament, Hole #11 was Aerated .To make matters worse on the second day of the tournament, Hole # 8 was being aerated as the tournament was going on…. The tour man organizers decided to have players skip the hole as it was not playable.
There has to be a really good reason to aerate a course during a major state tournament that escaped all the golfers and tournament organizers but was made business sense that was solely known by the course management.
One employee who has worked at the course for more than 30plus years could not pass judgement on that decision when questioned. Hats off to the decision maker for this outstanding disregard for paying golfers in the state.
I’m still reeling from the experience and will continue to do so for years to come. Hopefully never at Lake Presidential again…
