Lake Presidential Golf Club
About
Lake Presidential Golf Club is one of Maryland's most popular public courses. It is a challenging championship layout that is player friendly enough to accommodate a wide range of skill levels. It stands out from run-of-the-mill municipal courses with exceptional conditions from the tees to the greens. The layout offers a diverse mix of holes that will have golfers using every club in their bag. There are some especially interesting par 3s that are visible but with enough hazards to make them a challenge. Houses border the front nine holes but they are absent on the back nine. The fairways on the last nine holes are densely lined with mature trees. The golf course finishes with an enjoyable par 5 that plays over a lake. It can be reached in two with a little skill and accuracy.

Great course
This course is truly great as far as public golf goes. Fairways are nice, greens are always in good shape, and it’s hard enough for a good challenge, and easy enough for the mid—high handicappers if you’re playing the right tees. I would recommend anyone in the area to come check this bad boy out.
Pace of play
Pace of play was awful. 6 hours for the round. The course was over booked to the point that carts were not available at the tee time. Over priced and extremely slow. Would not recommend
They don’t care about their customers
his place is joke. They are unreliable no one here cares about customers. I drove here straight from work to get some range work in, have a golf trip on Sunday. Arrived at 6:40. People are inside said they shut down at 6:30. They just wanted to leave early, poorly run. I offered to pay cash so that they didn’t have to give me charge I just wanted to hit some balls. No one here understands how to run a course properly. I’ve tried to give them the benefit of the doubt over the past few years but I’m done, tee times too close together which causes pace of play issues, they charge way to much for how poor the course condition is, traps are not well kept. These are all symptoms of a business that does not care about their customers. I use to play here a few times a year. I’ve brought different people here for professional business outings. I’ve taken lessons here and the pro that use to teach moved on due to their poor customer service as well. They just don’t care, do yourselves favor and go anywhere but here because you’re only supporting a company that does not care about its customers.
Over Booking Tee Times and Poor Managment
Arrived for a 12:30 tee time when we got to the first hole starter said there was a 45 minute delay. The pro shop staff never mentioned it prior to us paying. Past few times I have played there has not been a Marshall on the course to enforce pace of play. General consensus of other players I have talked to, is the same as mine, the course managment of deteriorating and it is showing in condition of the course and organization.
This course always disappoints
Four years ago, I promised I’d never play here again after paying $120 for a round in mid-July that took 6.5 hours. I legitimately came down with sun poisoning that day.
As always, the course packs too many tee times in, with most groups being about 9 minutes apart. That cadence works great at a private club, but at semi-private courses, tee times should be closer to 13 minutes apart to account for inevitably slow groups.
That said, pace wasn’t an issue this time, but that’s because we teed off before 8 am. The course itself was in ok shape. It’s just not that special, the layout is meh, and it’s generally not worth the money. Also, we only saw the cart girl twice—on number 8 and on number 18.
I didn’t have a terrible experience this round, but it reinforced my conviction that people should play somewhere else that’s around the same price point for a better experience.
Excitingly challenging
Challenging and exciting course, I loved it. Would definitely play again.
Amazing course
This course is very challenging course.
Lake, Woods, I really enjoyed playing this course. Definitely, the best course in D.C and Maryland area.
Also, price is very reasonable.
I played here $100 15 years ago. But now $130 on weekend.
Thank you
Great Course, Especially for the price.
Great Course. I went out on Christmas day. Greens were still well maintained. Clearly, The fairway looked a little bit rough, but that was because of the season we were in. I still had a great time and my playing partner loved it as well, who has played several tour courses, like Augusta, so he knows a bit more about courses than I. I cant wait to go back in the spring/ summer
Beautiful golf course 🍀🍀🍀🍀
As always the best choice to spend a day . Beautiful golf course and great layout .
Tee boxes have more sand than their bunkers. Stupid cart would lock up randomly on the fairway. This place is very overpriced and I would not come back again
Bush League Presidential
I booked a round for 7:48 Friday Morning 10/10. We we had a wedding in the late afternoon. Should have had no issue completing a round in time. Lake Pres 2x booked another group at our time and told me I was supposed to tee off at 7:39 when I checked in.
My email reservation confirmed 7:48. Because they deemed us 'late" for our phantom 7:39 time, we got screwed by the starter and shuffled back behind 3 groups and didn't tee off until almost 8:15. Now we were stuck behind groups slower than a turtle's rear end. We had to leave after 13 holes.
Other friends of mine experienced having another group booked same time as theirs in the past. It appears to be a trend. They have no serviceable bar. Absolutely lame. Guys behind the register were nice at least.
Buyer beware.
Great layout, challenging hazards
No notice of green aeration, poorly sanded, and excess plugs remaining in fringe
Rundown
This is a championship course that is treated like a shabby unkept public course. No one fixes ball marks. Greens were aerated and we weren't informed. The bunkers are construction sand and never raked. Off fairways is all crab grass. They don't cut anything except greens, tees, and fairways (fairways were in pretty good shape). This course has the best layout in the area and should be treated that way!
Great track, quite difficult
Love playing here. Played after a bad Rian storm but the place was in pretty good shape for this time of the year. Will be back!
