About
Lake Presidential Golf Club is one of Maryland's most popular public courses. It is a challenging championship layout that is player friendly enough to accommodate a wide range of skill levels. It stands out from run-of-the-mill municipal courses with exceptional conditions from the tees to the greens. The layout offers a diverse mix of holes that will have golfers using every club in their bag. There are some especially interesting par 3s that are visible but with enough hazards to make them a challenge. Houses border the front nine holes but they are absent on the back nine. The fairways on the last nine holes are densely lined with mature trees. The golf course finishes with an enjoyable par 5 that plays over a lake. It can be reached in two with a little skill and accuracy.

Golfer Reviews
6.5 Hour Round
Horrible! 4 groups waited on the first tee waiting to tee off. Starter when present had no idea what was going on. Tee times were being made up. We started a half hour late. Asked for a refund offered a rain check for a course I would never want to play again. Total round 6.5 hours after we tree off half hour late. This is how courses close down, which is exactly what is happening!
Challenging Tack
Lake Presidential is one of the most challenging tracks around yet the upkeep makes me sad. They have lost tee boxes, the greens are too slow and they don't maintain any of the off areas of the golf course.
Amateur
Compared to the last time (2+ years ago) the course is in shambles. I do understand unpredictable weather patterns…
Staff was great.
Ok
Course was pretty nice fairways were nice, tee boxes were a little rough especially the forward tees. Lots of rolling hills, some of TBE holes were cart path only made fora long hot walk. Pace of play was great on the front 9 but I thunk lot of players just play the back a cause it got really slow after the turn. Overall had a good time!
What Happened Lake Presidential
Love the new carts. But what happened to the course, at least 10 tee boxes completely fone down to dirt. There are several areas in fair ways gone, some bunkers have ALOT of rocks in them and unplayable. Come on Lake Presidential and having the audacity to still charge premium prices. This is by far the worst i have seen this course in 3 years. I want even mention the pace of play as we waited 5 min on 1o out of 18 holes.
Course needs help
The round took six hours. Only two people were working. They were working hard and very pleasant. But they couldn't handle the amount of work needed to be done. Please get a golf marshal to enforce pace of play.
The course is beautiful and deserves better.
Over Priced/ Pace of play
I’ve been playing at this course for a few years and it’s sad to see how downhill it’s gone. The conditions aren’t the worst given the time of year but for $100+ you’d expect more. They’ve recently upgraded their carts and it’s blatantly obvious they trying to recoup the investment. My 9am tee time was so backed up that I didn’t tee off until almost 9:30, on top of that, forced to wait 5-10 minutes on each tee box. This is a direct result of overbooking play and lack of enforcement of basic golf etiquette. I’m not sure if there was change in management but I would not recommend playing here unless you plan for an almost 6 hour round.
Great course, rough pace
This course has a fun/challenging layout. It is in the best condition I've seen it, and I have a buddy who is a member so I've played it several times. Amenities are limited, including limited food options at that turn, but the golf makes up for it. The pace of play was brutal however. I think they may be trying to jam foursomes to close back to back. On top of it, the group behind us was clueless and kept hitting into us although I know they could see we had golfer directly in front of us. No marshall in sight, likely because they know the delays are self inflicted. We paid for a foursome and brought two golfers, and still didn't have appropriate room.
Bad Experience
Overall, a bad experience with the course. The starter didn’t know what he was doing sending foursomes out too quickly. The encore Marshall didn’t help the patient of the play. I ended up only playing nine holes.
The Lake
Great challenging course. I finally conquered #8! The fairways did not roll as I expected. Folks need to fix their marks. Friendly staff.
Not so Presidential
This was my second time playing at Lake Presidential. Both times I was harassed by golfers pressing and using profane language about pace of play without knowing that the golfers in front of us were impacting our pace. Having a range manager could help communicate slow points so that playing at Lake Presidential will be more enjoyable.
Avoid on weekends
They pack the course and it leads to terrible rounds. Played 12 holes in 4 hours today then walked off when there were 5 foursomes on the par 5 13.
Should be fine to play during the week.
Awful experience - Horrendous Pace of Play with no water coolers anywhere to be found on hot hot day
I can't describe what a disappointment this course is both times I've played it. The pace of play is the slowest I've ever come across on any course in the US and have played well over a 100 courses. Well known resort courses don't play as slow as this course which has to do with their horrendous spacing and just the difficulty the course presents.
We played on a day with a heat index of close to 110 and we didn't get through the round. We threw in the towel at hole #14 because we were on a 6 hour and 15 mintue pace to play 18 holes. It was THAT bad.
To top it off, there wasn't a single water cooler on the entire course. Nothing. No coolers with water bottles, no igloos, just absolutely no way to get water except a cart girl that we didn't see until the literal turn. Go buy some freaking coolers and get water on your course on record breaking head index days! Then they wanted $2.29 for water bottles int he club house and $5 for gatorades, just a total selfish money making racket at this place. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. They don't care about the golfers health and safety. Clear as day.
The course could be fun, conditions weren't horrendous but certainly nothing to write home about.
