Maryland National Golf Club

This was a bucket list course and it was great. The first nine holes perfect. The second nine was slow due to a groups of older players struggling. Our pairing was great and the green speed made you think. I will play again before my retirement later this summer. A great bucket course.

Absolutely great experience on a tough fantastic course. Everyone aspect of the course was in great condition and it was playing firm and fast. Definitely need to bring your short game and putter!

Course is in great shape. Lighting fast greens. Spectacular views of the mountains. I highly recommend this track

I enjoyed my first visit to Maryland National, a very intriguing, well maintained tour on rolling land outside Frederick. Holes are split between wide open to fairly tight, presenting varying challenges. Seemed to play harder than the rating, but that was on a very windy day. Most holes have plenty of room off the tee with quite a number of downhill drives, but the rough was severe, not to mention the deep bunkers. Fast greens rolled true. The shorter, narrower holes present a number of options in how best to attack the hole, particularly the devilish 16th.

Not a course you'd want to walk, as the routing is awkward and involves severe hills.

The course is a really terrific layout and they keep the place in good condition. The course makes excellent use of its elevation changes, particularly on the par 3s; there are nice views and fun tee shots throughout.

To nitpick on the course, there are too many holes running parallel, in close quarters and without tree lines, that leads to groups frequently on others' fairways. Hardly a mortal sin but it does detract from the experience a bit...as you see other groups...frequently. And the 16th hole should be blown up and re-thought. It's a fine idea that doesn't quite work. But hey, these are still 17 fun, scenic, and challenging holes.

Arthur Hill courses are always challenging. This is by far the best course around DC area. Lots of undulations and you need to know your distance with loft to be accurate. Well managed fairways and green, and staff members are nice too. The only issue for me was it was too far from my home and holes are little tight together. You won't regret playing this course !

Great course, sadly though there was no marshal to push the members who were 3 holes behind the group in front of them - it wasnt the frost delay that made for the long golf round, just flat out slow member play

Use the tee time pass to play Maryland National a few times each year. Course was in outstanding shape! Greens were very fast especially for April. Mondays are not crowded. Got done in 3hr 15min and found a dozen and a half ProV1s in the creeks. Have already told friends this is a must day trip from Leesburg, VA.

Maryland National is One of The Best Courses in Maryland & The DMV. Its Always a Great Play, Always in Good Condition, Usually Windy With Very Fast Greens. Great Elevations and You’ll Use Almost Every Club In your bag.......Worth the Money.

Moved into the area a few months ago. Always wanted to play this course, and was strongly considering a membership this year but held off. Finally got out to play with a friend for the first round of the year (not in a tournament) and man what a wake up call! The course is in a beautiful location with great mountain views, that being said...it is a very hilly course with sloping, quick greens and some shared fairways that really make it challenging for the novice golfer. That being said, now that I have a lay of the land, I am definitely coming back to play this course when I can as it is a good challenge and a course I believe you can hone your skills on.

I have played at this course several times. It is always challenging because I am playing at the Champion tee box. Not only that, it was too windy today. But, there was a group of two right behind me riding a cart on the fairway, even though it was a cart path only when I started. So, I had to rush to play the game because they were right behind me because I was riding on the path but they didnt, even though I was a solo player. Anyway, so I asked the staff after I finished my game, and then he told me that they just switched to a 90 degree path. Well.. I don't think they just did or a group of two didn't really care about the policy. It would have been better if somehow there was a way to update that policy during the game.
