Fun course, good deal
For the golfnow price of $35 versus ~$70 the course was a great deal. Decent length and difficult greens to hit and putt.
The area's finest
Play this course several times a month. They offer 40% military discount so it is a great value. The course is challenging, must pick the right set of tees otherwise it becomes very difficult to enjoy the round. The entire course is always in great shape. The greens, a few of them double tiered, tend to dry out in the afternoon and become very quick. Not gimmicky - no tricky blind shots. You can always see the flag unless you're really out of position. Just some daunting holes primarily due to the undulations on the fairways: Holes #2 and #13, both Par 5 are true tests to this hacker - not because of the length but the stance even on the fairway. Staff are always available and very
helpful. Given the discount I get, this is the best value for me. Even at full price, this is one of the area's finest.
high winds add to degree of difficultly
having played MD Nat'l before I have seen it in better shape though it is still early in the season, and the high winds made the course more difficult than usual, bar/restaurant staff was super
great condition
course is well maintained. greens are excellent. staff not very friendly
Pristine to say the least
This course was in pristine condition. Greens were very fast however, making an already challenging course that much more difficult. The weather turned out beautifully and the views and detail of this course made up for any struggles holding the green. Would definitely play this course again, and you can't beat the twilight rate value. Playing a course like this, for that price is a great deal. Plus, twilight is my favorite time of the day to play this time of the year when the weather is just perfect.
Immaculate Condition.
This course is constantly the best manicured and conditioned course in the area. Currently it is in the best condition I have ever seen.
Great course
Course is in great condition! Greens are firm and fast so holding them can be difficult. Scenery is gorgeous! Driving range is nice with target greens. What makes this course so challenging is the elevation changes, really makes you think about club selection. And the actual layout reminds me of a PB Dye course. Great course, def. will return!
The layout is wonderful, lots of elevated and descending shots to green.
Beautiful course. Challenging but rewards good decisions. The greens are challenging with subtle breaks that are hard to see. I would play there again anytime.
Tremendous Course!!!
I have played this course many times in the past and have always been satisfied with the course, however this time the course was simply immaculate! It was in such great condition, and the golfnow price was a fantastic deal.
MD National is a must play course.
The course was in great condition for so early in the year. Greens rolled true and it has a fair share of risk/rewards holes.
Beautiful course, excellent conditions, difficult layout
MD National was an awesome course! The staff was very friendly and we enjoyed talking / joking with them. Every player we encountered was very friendly also. The course was in immaculate condition, especially for early April. Greens were amazing, relatively fast and firm. If it is your first time playing, utilize the GPS systems!! This was my first time playing the course and it has a difficult layout. Many blind tee shots, or tee shots where you have to carry hazards / sand much like Pebble Beach #18. Risk reward tee shots on multiple holes. I would almost consider the course a target golf course on many holes. Par 3s are all relatively difficult from the 2nd longest tees, especially in the wind. Beautiful course, would play again!
Great deal & great condition
Great condition for so early in the season. Greens were immaculate. Golfnow.com deal of $55 @ 12 noon on a Saturday - Awesome. Scottish friend in town - well impressed.
Fun course to play
The course was in very good shape. We played after a day of heavy rain and the course was a little soggy, but it was still very playable. Bunkers were not raked.
Nice Course
Played here a few times, nice layout with several risk/reward holes...one of the best couses in the frederick area
Wow!
You've got to play this course, it's phenomenal! It's pretty much a links course set in rolling hills with dramatic elevation changes. First appearance is it's wide open - but when you play you quickly find numerous challenges on every hole. You really need to know where to hit the ball (and hope that when you play it's not cart path only). The course is in superb condition even at this time of the year. Pricey, by comparison to a lot of public courses in the area, but you won't find a better course.
A beautiful setting for this challenging but fair course.
Maryland National is a difficult layout for the average golfer. Several fairways are narrow and others are slopped dramatically. Bunkers come into play along the fairways and around the greens. A few approach shots are blind from most any spot in front of the green.
For late fall the course is in great shape. Our GolfNow rate was a real bargain.
The electric carts offer GPS and are in good shape. This course is definitely a recommended play!
great value
best course conditions I have seen of any course in the last five years
This course was so disappointed .
When we got there club house clerk said
We don't have a tee time.
I showed my tee time confirmation paper.
They said they have a tee time for some other person.
We're so upset and embarrassed .
Any way they squeezed into play.
Course condition wasn't good as what we heard before
made a tee time.
Maintenance of course was great. The pace was on time
The condition of course was great. The course was challenging because of many blind shots. However, it was good for the money.
