An accurate tee shot from the towering tee above the par-4 5th leaves you this short but challenging approach. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 06/02/2020

The 2nd hole and adjacent 17th are both longish uphill par-4s that are nearly mirror images. Par is a good score on either. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 06/02/2020

Not a lot of flat lies in the landing zone on the par-4 12th, making the approach that much tougher. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 06/02/2020

The par-4 14th is the first time you encounter a water hazard on this course, a nice reprieve. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 06/02/2020

THe par-3 15th also has water in view, giving you back-to-back opportunities to lose your lucky Noodle. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 06/02/2020

The par-5 18th is just a super cool golf hole. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 06/02/2020

Great holes. Mountain course.
Great layout. Wonderful views from mountain. Nice driving lines. Fair holes. Very tricky putting -- break and speed a little tough to peg. Ernie did a great job. Very good condition. Would go back.
Always a pleasure
Love this track. It's in great shape right now...greens..fairways....tees...and rough is up a bit. This course (especially the back 9) beats me up a bit...but I love it....fired a smooth 36-42 from the tips...lol. Staff is always friendly and not pompous..unlike some of the other "higher end" public courses around here.
Best course in this area.
I read all the reviews about this course on Golf Now.com and they seemed too good to be true. Now I am a believer. Played this course yesterday with my son and was very impressed. Course condition was excellent, elevation changes and views were spectacular. Greens were beautiful. Challenging but fair golf course. I am a 11 handicap and my son is a 2. He played from the tips and I played the whites. Drives ended up very close on every hole. We both shot within 1 stoke of our handicaps. We played at 1:30 and finished in 3 1/2 hours. We can't wait to go back. Highly recommended. Worth the price.
GOLFNOW ripped me off!
GOLFNOW shows you when you pay less than the rate at a course but on this course, the rate through GOLFNOW was about 20% higher than the course charges if I called and made the tee time plus GOLFNOW tacked on $7.98.Of course, I thought I was paying the standard rack rate since GOLFNOW shows savings but not when they are higher. I guess I am back to shopping my own tee times.
The course is a must play for Metro area.
Local golfers should play at lest once per year. Worth the higher fee to do so. However, based on location (far), and course (very good, not great), on average it is priced to high (like others). I think this is reflected in the turn out - a rare, non humid beautiful Friday in late July, and not that busy/crowded. Course itself is challenging and rewarding, generous off most tees, and nice to play.
Great Course. Needs A Marshall.
Whiskey Creek is quality golf course in every way. However, my round on a Sunday afternoon was excruciatingly slow. Someone up ahead was playing at a snail's pace and there wasn't a marshal to be seen. I was having a great round from the tips, 2 under through 8, but the 5-to-10 minute waits on the tee boxes finally got to me. So advice to course management: light a fire under the slowpokes. While we are still young.
Fantastic course!!!
This was my second time playing this course and as with the first time it was an absolute pleasure. I booked a $35 twilight rate on golfnow.com and teed off at 4pm with a friend. We had the entire course to ourselves and played in just under 4 hours. What a DEAL!!!! The course was in immaculate shape with well manicured fairways and greens. The layout is challenging yet fair with some fantastic views and elevation changes. The staff in the clubhouse were very friendly. Definitely a must play! I know when I am back in the area I will play it again! Easily one of the best I have played!
We really enjoyed playing the course.
My wife and I really enjoyed playing this course . Course was in good shape (7-10-2013). We would play it again, hands down. Note: This is not a "beginners" course.
Cool layout and fun course
I have played this course a few times and each time it gets better. The course is always in great shape, the course is challenging but no so tough that you don't enjoy yourself.
Whiskey Creek
I was looking at top 10 courses in MD and this was in the top 5 per most lists and a reasonable price so I had to give it a go. The photo's of the holes make it look splended, and it is. Showed up about an hour early for my t time, it was rainy so the course was wide open and we could move our time back a bit to utilize the practice facilities a bit. The driving range was nice, as was the practice green. We went out in front of a 4some who apparently thought they were all tiger woods and would be hitting into us all day.. we lost them and played through another group along the course of 18. Cart path only that day. Greens were excellent and the course was maintained expertly. The fairways have alot of undulation and it was very enjoyable. Most every t box and view from the green were remarkable. I got in the habit of snapping pics along the way, just too pretty. The 18th was very unique with the rundown building from a distant past and a challenging approach to the green. I very much enjoyed my round and would highly recommend the course, it definitely felt as it warranted the top 10 ranking and was also fairly priced (I did get the golfnow hot deal price) even without the discounted rate.
Wow!!!! What a gem...
I drove 40 miles to play. Worth every mile. This very well might be one of the best courses I have played. Greens smooth and quick, fairways fairly wide, never had a bad lie, rough semi- tough, but playable. We paid $46 through golf now and was worth every penny. I would play again in a heartbeat. Don't miss this one. Beautiful holes, hilly, and scenic. Everything positive, course, staff, and food. I will remember this course for a long time.
One of the best in Maryland!
Whiskey Creek has wonderful views as the cart path winds up and down hills and passes through wooded and open areas. It is particularly challenging with many (most?) of the greens at elevated levels from the tee boxes and fairway approaches. You can hear not too distant freight trains from some holes and the variety of holes is a delight. The course conditions are top notch and the cart GPS is a very nice touch. The clubhouse and its Pro Shop are excellent as is the dining. The delightful course is even more attractive using Golf Now which helps the club fill foursomes and we Golf Now members save a lot (saved me about 30%) on a weekend in a slot where I joined a threesome.
worth the drive from DC!
As nice a public course I've played in the DC area. Pretty views, well maintained, few houses, and decent pace of play. Plays a bit shorter than the yardage, given the number of elevated tees. Not intimidating off the tee, but the greens can be a bit tricky. My only criticism is the very heavy rough just off the greens; playing for the first time it's easy to misclub and find yourself losing a ball for a shot only 5-10 yards long. Regardless, I'll be playing here again and definitely recommend a visit.
Top Notch Facility
I've played a lot of golf courses all over the world and this course is one of the best I have played. Pace of play was excellent, course conditions were excellent, and the layout and scenery is awesome. Kicking myself for waiting so long to play this one. I'm a fan!
Course in great shape.
Course in great shape. Greens were hard and fast. Rough was deep and challenging.
BEAUTIFUL COURSE! MUST PLAY!!!!
ONE OF THE BEST GOLF COURSE IN MARYLAND, BEAUTIFUL GOLF COURSE! MUST PLAY!!!!
Great Course
One opf the best public courses in Maryland. Well maintained, with a very friendly staff. Highly recommended.
Challenging course, great conditions
Well conditioned course, friendly staff, pace of play was slow due to cart path only due to wet conditions. Great value using GolfNow. Will play again soon.
5 STAR COURSE - MUST PLAY
Got to the course a little early anticipating a full warmup session but was offered to tee off as a single. This was at 1pm on a perfect spring sunday! I glady jumped on that offer. Eventually ran into another single on the course on hole 4 and played the rest of the round as a 2 ball. The course was PRISTINE. Whiskeys layout is seductive. It is challenging but fair. Some classic risk reward opportunities will present themselves. Front 9 has some shorter par 4s. But you better stick your approach otherwise double bogey is in play. Bring your A+ short game to Whiskey. Shots around the greens require excellent touch. Back 9 has some incredible holes. In fact this back 9 rivals any in the area. Love the castle ruins on 18. Hit my best drive of the day on 18 and carried it! Some memorable holes for sure. If i could afford it, i would play this course every day. So happy they offer rates on Golfnow. Playing there for 50 bucks is a steal. Pace of Play less than 3.5 hours on a sunday afternoon? thought i was dreaming, had to pinch myself when i got home 2 hours earlier than i thought i would. 5 star must play course.
