An accurate tee shot from the towering tee above the par-4 5th leaves you this short but challenging approach. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 06/02/2020

The 2nd hole and adjacent 17th are both longish uphill par-4s that are nearly mirror images. Par is a good score on either. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 06/02/2020

Not a lot of flat lies in the landing zone on the par-4 12th, making the approach that much tougher. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 06/02/2020

Called our tee time when lightning was overhead.
I have traditionally recommended this course as my favorite in the DC area. It is a beautiful layout and very well maintained.
This past weekend I played and was dismayed by their lack of concern for the safety of their golfers. As I was warming up, I was told to leave the practice tee because of lighning in the area. Then, as the storm approached - and the ligthing was more directly overhead - they continued to send golfers off the first tee onto the two most exposed holes on the course. It began raining five minutes before my tee time, but I already told them I was not going off it it was lightning nearby. However, I should not have been placed in the position.
This is very different than what I have seen on other courses where they just have delayed starts and in many cases ordered golfers off the course. And, in my view it is different than when golfers tee off during good conditions and are actually on the course - because in this case management can exercise some judgment on the first tee for everyone. The manager said "we can't stop people from going off" - but that also is different than calling their tee time and sending them to the tee.
Good course but slow pace
Every time I'm here it's a guaranteed 5+ hour round. Course is in decent shape. Greens still recovering from airation. Only play this course when I get a good deal on Golfnow, otherwise this course is way overpriced.
Best course in Md!
Just a tremendous course! Played Easter morning with my son. We played 18 holes in about 2 hrs and 20 min! Fairways were immaculate - even the rough was great, which I wasn't sure was going to be the case with the hard winter. They had aerated the greens a couple weeks ago, and they were a bit bumpy, but the ball still rolled true. Left my birdie putt on 18 about an 1/8 of an inch short!
Extremely Rude Staff - DO NOT RECOMEND
I was excited to play this course, after having heard good things from friends, but that excitement quickly turned into frustration and anger shortly after arriving at Whiskey Creek.
Let me start off by saying the conditions were rough; approx 15-20 mph winds, AND the greens had recently been aerated. Also, they were cart path only on the vast majority of the holes. I was playing in a foursome with everyone being around a 10-15 handicap.
About hole No. 5 is when we were politely told to pick up the pace. The group ahead of us did separate from us a little but the group behind us were not waiting for us at all. But whatever, I understand they wanted us to keep pace. Then, a hold later, the course officials start HARASSING us by sending alerts and messages to our court through the GPS screens. 1-2 times a hole they would send us these messages. THEN, when we made the turn another course worker told us that we needed to "Hurry, and make the turn quickly. You guys are a hole and a half behind", with a raised voice! And still, the group behind us were not waiting for us.
On the back nine, they assigned a ranger to follow us around practically the entire 9 holes. Just staring at us, watching us and harassing us for the entire time. We were basically fuming for 2 hours while we were getting harrassed and bullied.
Then came the final alert message they sent us. It said something like, "YOU ARE HOLDING UP THE ENTIRE COURSE, YOU MAY BE ASKED TO SKIP A HOLE IF YOU DONT PICK UP THE PACE." And still, the group behind us were always at least one hole behind us, never waiting.
I will never return, and never recommend this course. We paid $75/round, and to get harassed like that was really frustrating and unfortunate.
Great for this time of year
Although the greens were airfied they rolled smoothly. My only gripe is that golf now did not mention that. Overall course in great condition
Whiskey Creek is a well-maintained course with a scenic & challenging layout. However it's expensive & the Pro Shop staff are rude.
The course is fun to play with a great variety of holes and a lot of scenic hills & elevation changes. It's also set up to play very difficult or somewhat easier depending on which tees you play from. The gorse is mostly cut down this time of year but in the summer it can be chest high and punishing.
However, everything is expensive here from the green fees to the $7 hot dogs. The problem is that at these prices the staff in the pro shop should be friendly and accomodating instead of rude and dismissive. One of them actually verbally insulted one of my playing partners without any provocation. Inexcusable in my opinion.
course was in great shape, the course is fun to play
it was in great shape for a november golf. will play this course again truely enjoyable course
WOW
Fantastic layout and super fast greens, even in November.
You'll need all the shots in your bag here. Precision off the tee
and some greens you have to hit or it'll be a bogey (at least)
No goofy, tricked up holes. You can see what lies ahead on each hole, you just need to execute. I live an hour away and i'll be back.
Great Course; a MUST play
The course was in great shape considering the time of year we played. The staff was very helpful and friendly. I do not think you can ask for much more from a course that is not on the PGA list of host courses. This course will challenge you on every hole, even the par 3s. Although the fairways are wide, and it is somewhat easy to find your ball on a shank, they make you pay for missed shots. The trees are trimmed to allow a punch out, but that is about it. A must play; bucket list course
Great Track; Even better deal!!
Absolutely love this layout! This course is one of the 10 best in Maryland and Golfnow offers it at a great price. There are elevation changes galore, wide fairways on many holes, and no "tricked-up" holes. Almost every hole looks like you can attack, but by the end of the day, you know you've been challenged to play your best!
HIGHLY recommended for all levels of golfers...just make sure you pick the right set of tees.
Thank you, Whiskey Creek for working with Golfnow to make this course available for affordable play!
Worthy of the praise
Played Wednesday 10/9, cool overcast and course received enough rain in prior days to have around 6 or so holes cart path only. Staff on and off duty were very friendly and helpful including tips on playing some of the holes when going over what holes were cart path only. Even with the restrictions the pace of play was very good and the people on the course friendly and accommodating (so much that 2 groups invited our twosome to play through). The course is beautiful, each hole different but a nice flow to it and the tee boxes, fairways and greens were very well maintained. Speaking of the greens they told us they stimp them around 10 and it is believable. For the $55 fee we paid I'd probably play it once a month since it's a bit of a drive but at full price it's a special occasion course on my budget. BTW, the wings are as good as advertised. lol
Beautuful Course, But Too Expensive For Me
A beautiful course designed by Ernie Else. I always wanted to try this course, but didn't because it was normally too expensive for me. This time GolfNow gave me an award and I went one round with my friend for free. What a deal! The course design, setting and maintenance are almost perfect. I was impressed. Each hole was challenging, but was not arbitrarily made difficult. Natural surroundings are spectacular. I couldn't find anything to complain about this course. However, it was the hottest day of the year with high temperature going up to 96 degrees. You could imagine how awful it was to play 18 halls in sauna!
This course is in very good condition.
Whiskey Creek is a challenging course and fun to play.
Fabulous views and course condition, friendly staff
We played Whiskey Creek on Rosh Hoshanna for $54 which is a lot for me. But I had played here once before and knew I would love the course, which I did. Everything here is top notch including the staff, the layout and the condition. The only drawback for us today was that the white tees were in a forward position and were more properly the senior tees. We could have just played the blue and had more of a challenge, but we decided to just hit a few short irons for a change. I can't afford it all the time, but love it once in a while with a Golfnow deal.
It's my favorite course in the DC area.
Very fun course to play, great layout and just the right mix of holes.
The Best in the Metro Area
Whiskey Creek is, in my opinion, first among many good pay-for-play clubs in the metro area. Absolutely first-rate in every category and with the help of Golf Now a tremendous value. The day I played the greens had been aerated but still putted true. They even do that right. While other area courses are showing the August blues....not Whiskey. Good job Whiskey Creek.
They had just aerated the greens and they rolled very well. A great golf course
One of the best courses in Maryland and it is in great condition.
August round
We happened to hit a beautiful day in August for golf. Beautiful weather, course uncrowded and in pristine condition. This is a challenging hilly course with plenty of trouble if you stray from the fairway. The course is cut through otherwise undisturbed countryside so you're alone with nature and a few other golfers. Signature 18th hole has the ruins of an old stone building in the center of the fairway at 200+ yards out, which might bother some people, but not us.
Tough greens, elevation change
Gorgeous views at the mountain top
Back nine more difficult
fast smooth undulating greens
course is in fantastic condition.. Fairways and green are as good as any course around. a bit pricey unless you can get a golf now deal!
