An accurate tee shot from the towering tee above the par-4 5th leaves you this short but challenging approach. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 06/02/2020

The 2nd hole and adjacent 17th are both longish uphill par-4s that are nearly mirror images. Par is a good score on either. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 06/02/2020

Not a lot of flat lies in the landing zone on the par-4 12th, making the approach that much tougher. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 06/02/2020

The par-4 14th is the first time you encounter a water hazard on this course, a nice reprieve. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 06/02/2020

THe par-3 15th also has water in view, giving you back-to-back opportunities to lose your lucky Noodle. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 06/02/2020

The par-5 18th is just a super cool golf hole. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 06/02/2020

Outstanding, but Expensive!
Course couldn't have been in better shape. Must be able to place shots. Player assistants worked hard to maintain pace of play. Very well run.
many scenic holes
The elevated tee boxes make a few holes seem very easy.
beautiful scenery...
I liked the course, although it was kind of slow because it was a company outing that day. We only got a chance to play the front nine, due to a thunder storm, but the course was beautiful & the layout really reflected the environment.
Whiskey Creek
Great time overall. Friendly staff - even came by on 18 to thank us for playing. Beautiful location and condition.
The course is in beautiful condition.
The course from tee box to greens is in fabulous shape. I played in the afternoon and the pace of play was a bit slow, but that may have been due to a large outing that was finishing up. I was a bit surprised that so many holes were cart path only, because conditions were fairly dry. The staff was very courteous and friendly.
Beautiful Day - Long Round - Favorite Course
Whiskey Creek is one of my favorite course in the region. Drive all the way from Centreville, VA to play 6 to 8 times a year. First time I played on a Saturday afternoon - it took 5 plus hour for the round - painful. Usually play during the week - typical 18 holes takes 3.5 hours. One big disappointment - the sand traps were a mess - need to be re-conditioned. Of all the 270 corridor course this is the one course to play.
Beautiful course
Beautiful course. I would like to go back again but cannot afford it unless I get it on Golf Now. # 18 is a very interesting hole but think the fairway should be opened up to the right of the stone ruins to make the landing area more fair.
Excellent Condition
Excellent Condition but challenging course only made more challenging by lots of loud construction and cart path only. When you pay $100 per round you don't expect to have put up with workers in your way and loud construction equipment. Shut the course down for a week, get the construction done and open back up!
If you like hills, you'll love this course.
Difficult but fun to play. Uphill/downhill ... and through the woods. Course in good condition in mid-May after terrible winter. Fairways smooth; roughs long; greens slow, bumpy & hard to read. GoPlay!
Aesthetically beautiful layout and design
very challenging course with some beautiful holes. the rough is penalizing and longer than most courses. you have to hack it out...so stay out of it!!
Greens are fast and contoured.
Well worth the drive!
This is an awesome course. The pace of play was myself and one other player finished the round in 3 hours! The staff members were very professional and friendly. Great place to spend an afternoon!
Local Favorite
Personal top 3 course within an hour of Baltimore County.
Called our tee time when lightning was overhead.
I have traditionally recommended this course as my favorite in the DC area. It is a beautiful layout and very well maintained.
This past weekend I played and was dismayed by their lack of concern for the safety of their golfers. As I was warming up, I was told to leave the practice tee because of lighning in the area. Then, as the storm approached - and the ligthing was more directly overhead - they continued to send golfers off the first tee onto the two most exposed holes on the course. It began raining five minutes before my tee time, but I already told them I was not going off it it was lightning nearby. However, I should not have been placed in the position.
This is very different than what I have seen on other courses where they just have delayed starts and in many cases ordered golfers off the course. And, in my view it is different than when golfers tee off during good conditions and are actually on the course - because in this case management can exercise some judgment on the first tee for everyone. The manager said "we can't stop people from going off" - but that also is different than calling their tee time and sending them to the tee.
Good course but slow pace
Every time I'm here it's a guaranteed 5+ hour round. Course is in decent shape. Greens still recovering from airation. Only play this course when I get a good deal on Golfnow, otherwise this course is way overpriced.
Best course in Md!
Just a tremendous course! Played Easter morning with my son. We played 18 holes in about 2 hrs and 20 min! Fairways were immaculate - even the rough was great, which I wasn't sure was going to be the case with the hard winter. They had aerated the greens a couple weeks ago, and they were a bit bumpy, but the ball still rolled true. Left my birdie putt on 18 about an 1/8 of an inch short!
Extremely Rude Staff - DO NOT RECOMEND
I was excited to play this course, after having heard good things from friends, but that excitement quickly turned into frustration and anger shortly after arriving at Whiskey Creek.
Let me start off by saying the conditions were rough; approx 15-20 mph winds, AND the greens had recently been aerated. Also, they were cart path only on the vast majority of the holes. I was playing in a foursome with everyone being around a 10-15 handicap.
About hole No. 5 is when we were politely told to pick up the pace. The group ahead of us did separate from us a little but the group behind us were not waiting for us at all. But whatever, I understand they wanted us to keep pace. Then, a hold later, the course officials start HARASSING us by sending alerts and messages to our court through the GPS screens. 1-2 times a hole they would send us these messages. THEN, when we made the turn another course worker told us that we needed to "Hurry, and make the turn quickly. You guys are a hole and a half behind", with a raised voice! And still, the group behind us were not waiting for us.
On the back nine, they assigned a ranger to follow us around practically the entire 9 holes. Just staring at us, watching us and harassing us for the entire time. We were basically fuming for 2 hours while we were getting harrassed and bullied.
Then came the final alert message they sent us. It said something like, "YOU ARE HOLDING UP THE ENTIRE COURSE, YOU MAY BE ASKED TO SKIP A HOLE IF YOU DONT PICK UP THE PACE." And still, the group behind us were always at least one hole behind us, never waiting.
I will never return, and never recommend this course. We paid $75/round, and to get harassed like that was really frustrating and unfortunate.
Great for this time of year
Although the greens were airfied they rolled smoothly. My only gripe is that golf now did not mention that. Overall course in great condition
Whiskey Creek is a well-maintained course with a scenic & challenging layout. However it's expensive & the Pro Shop staff are rude.
The course is fun to play with a great variety of holes and a lot of scenic hills & elevation changes. It's also set up to play very difficult or somewhat easier depending on which tees you play from. The gorse is mostly cut down this time of year but in the summer it can be chest high and punishing.
However, everything is expensive here from the green fees to the $7 hot dogs. The problem is that at these prices the staff in the pro shop should be friendly and accomodating instead of rude and dismissive. One of them actually verbally insulted one of my playing partners without any provocation. Inexcusable in my opinion.
course was in great shape, the course is fun to play
it was in great shape for a november golf. will play this course again truely enjoyable course
