About
Riverside Golf Club is appropriately named. The course sits in a floodplain along the Trinity River with water in play on seemingly every hole. This is a combination links-style/traditional layout that is surprisingly difficult for a municipal course. Great holes abound on the Roger Packard layout, which requires the rare combination of length and accuracy when playing from the tips.
Holes 4-6 offer one of the better stretches of golf, starting with a 462-yard par 4 that is cut in the landing area by pesky fairway bunkers, and features a long approach into an elevated green that is surrounded by water and slopes back-to-front. Club down on no. 4 because leaving it short still offers the chance for an up-and-down. No. 5 is a good par 3, especially from the middle tees where it generally plays as a short iron. Watch for the front pin placement, which can leave you with a long downhill putt if the tee shot is too long. Water looms to the right but it takes a bad shank to dunk it in the drink. No. 6 goes 543 yards, doglegging left along the Trinity with water fronting the green. The tee shot must be long and straight, and anything too far right leaves a precarious second shot around the bend.
The back side is the more fun of the two, taking you through good combinations of holes that offer excellent birdie opportunities if you’re on your game. You'll need those birds when you come down the home stretch.

Course in Good Condition
Greens in great shape compared with a lot of courses after the freeze
always a solid choice
The course is in good shape considering the winter we had and the lack of rain. Tee boxes are good and so are greens. Consistent pace. Course is challenging enough with bunker placement, water, etc for most golfers but less experienced players can also enjoy the course if they are smart with their approach to the round. Very convenient to get too also
Good course
Considering we’ve just come out of winter the course is already looking good. Some fairways were a little dry, but the course played very well. Greens run true and are all very similar in pace. The tee sheet was full and the pace of play was good, very little waiting. Come summer Riverchase will be a gem.
Overall Value
The overall value is very fair for the price paid. The greens were smooth and rolled out well. The fairways were as expected during the time of year. The pace of play was extremely slow. We found ourselves waiting a good deal of time and waited for 2 entire groups on 2 different holes. Aside from the slow play, this would have received lots of 5-Star categories.
Decent course.
I liked the course, there are a few things that need to be repaired i.e. parts of the cart path and a number of tee boxes need work.
$43.00 was a bit much for a friend that came in from Florida, he said this would be a $23.00 course back home....
with a few repairs and a little work, it could be a really good North Texas course.
Way to recover after the winter storms!
The team here did a great job getting the course reopened so quickly. The greens were in great shape and the pace of play was decent.
Really, a remarkable feat considering that most other local courses are staying closed until tomorrow or later in the week.
Bravo!!!
Just not great
Poor dormant conditions everywhere including greens. Bad unfair layout. Tiny major slope greens tucked behind bunkers. Not fun.
