About
Riverside Golf Club is appropriately named. The course sits in a floodplain along the Trinity River with water in play on seemingly every hole. This is a combination links-style/traditional layout that is surprisingly difficult for a municipal course. Great holes abound on the Roger Packard layout, which requires the rare combination of length and accuracy when playing from the tips.
Holes 4-6 offer one of the better stretches of golf, starting with a 462-yard par 4 that is cut in the landing area by pesky fairway bunkers, and features a long approach into an elevated green that is surrounded by water and slopes back-to-front. Club down on no. 4 because leaving it short still offers the chance for an up-and-down. No. 5 is a good par 3, especially from the middle tees where it generally plays as a short iron. Watch for the front pin placement, which can leave you with a long downhill putt if the tee shot is too long. Water looms to the right but it takes a bad shank to dunk it in the drink. No. 6 goes 543 yards, doglegging left along the Trinity with water fronting the green. The tee shot must be long and straight, and anything too far right leaves a precarious second shot around the bend.
The back side is the more fun of the two, taking you through good combinations of holes that offer excellent birdie opportunities if you’re on your game. You'll need those birds when you come down the home stretch.

Snails pace
No marshalls. Extremely slow pace of play.
Slow groups have three foursomes waiting behind them
Great Value
Played on a HotDeal. Golf course was in excellent condition. Greens are quick & depending on pin positions there are no easy two putts. Good mixture of gettable holes & ones you are working hard to make par. Difficulty certainly increases when the wind picks up. Definitely would recommend
Basic set up
Driving up to a trailer home as the club house is a bit of a downer but hey they found a way to survive many years with this minimal set up. They have a lot of merchandise in what looks to be a very successful club. The hot dogs cooked under a tent with a large selection of beverages and a very sweet and efficient girl, worked for me. Jalapeno Sausage dog was very tasty. The course is very straight forward. Hazards are the heavy growth on the edges of fairways. Balls literally disappear in them. Greens were in great shape. Overall course is in great shape. Just not a thriller in any way. But for $30 on a beautiful day it was not a bad place to be.
Good conditions-always a challenge
Good conditions-tee boxes a little rough in places-fairways fantastic-greens better than average, staff friendly. Always a difficult and challenging course. A word of advice when booking a tee time, especially an early tee time, realize what time it starts getting light enough to see clearly so that you dont have to shoot into the unknown. Riverside likes to book times before dawn to make a little extra money but if you have never played this course before then those times are not for you. You will be lost and you will set everyone else back.
Hidden gem
The course was great shape. Fairways and greens were plush . I would definitely recommend this to anyone .
Greens Are Back
Course in very good shape outside of the sand traps. Greens fully recovered from aeration and rolling true.
Smooth
Course played fast and very exciting. The starter helped us stay on pace at the turn and the back makes for some blind tee shots. Greens are some of the smallest I’ve played on a public course. If you find a price you like, come play here.
Riverside Covid-19
The course was in great shape even after the rain. However, I don't think any course should pair players up when they are not coming from the same household. We are still in the midst of a pandemic. Human life should be the priority! Also, there should not be an upcharge to ride alone.
