About
Riverside Golf Club is appropriately named. The course sits in a floodplain along the Trinity River with water in play on seemingly every hole. This is a combination links-style/traditional layout that is surprisingly difficult for a municipal course. Great holes abound on the Roger Packard layout, which requires the rare combination of length and accuracy when playing from the tips.
Holes 4-6 offer one of the better stretches of golf, starting with a 462-yard par 4 that is cut in the landing area by pesky fairway bunkers, and features a long approach into an elevated green that is surrounded by water and slopes back-to-front. Club down on no. 4 because leaving it short still offers the chance for an up-and-down. No. 5 is a good par 3, especially from the middle tees where it generally plays as a short iron. Watch for the front pin placement, which can leave you with a long downhill putt if the tee shot is too long. Water looms to the right but it takes a bad shank to dunk it in the drink. No. 6 goes 543 yards, doglegging left along the Trinity with water fronting the green. The tee shot must be long and straight, and anything too far right leaves a precarious second shot around the bend.
The back side is the more fun of the two, taking you through good combinations of holes that offer excellent birdie opportunities if you’re on your game. You'll need those birds when you come down the home stretch.

Cold perfect day
This is a pretty wide open course with a spacious pro shop.
If using a motorized cart, be vigilant while driving between #14 and #15 (the latter is under construction) bc strictly/blindly following the cart path can be treacherous. Otherwise, the cart paths are pretty nice.
I was amused by the absence of #13 from the map on the scorecard.
Rain can leave portions of the course pretty muddy. Port-a-potties are after #5 & after #15.
Course Rained Out - Did not receive refund from GolfNow
I booked a Tee Time here on a "Hot Deal." GolfNow makes it clear there are no refunds for cancelling Hot Deal reservations, unless the course is closed due to weather. This course was cancelled that day for weather, and i have yet to receive credits from GolfNow. There isnt a place to call or email about this and it is frustrating. I still want to play at this course, but might be better off booking it without GolfNow.
Slow and slow
We couldn't finished due to late my appointment today... but we enjoyed with new friends round with us.
Tough course
Playing in December is sometimes a crapshoot, and we unfortunately got a very windy, overcast, and chilly day. Greens were pretty fast, had lots of slope, and were in good shape. Pin positions were pretty tough. There are quite a few holes where you can't see where your tee shot is supposed to land. As a first time player of this course, this was fairly intimidating. The course is also quite hilly, and I had several lies with the ball above or below my feet. I shot about 7 shots worse than my handicap, and I'd like to go back on a less windy day to see how it would play. I would definitely recommend.
Slick greens
Course in good shape after rain yesterday. Greens are hard and FAST. Always a good choice. Played in under 4 hours
So Slow
I’ve played here many times and usually I have few issues but today it took over 4.5 hours to play a round with my dad. We had to wait on every tee and there was a group of 5 and a group of 4 playing their own personal tournament a couple holes in front of us with several holes of space in front of them. No Marshall to be seen despite the staff in the pro shop assuring us they had one. At one point there were 4 groups waiting to tee off on one hole. The course itself was in good shape, the only complaint were the greens were a little beat up but it’s also mid-December so that’s to be expected. Overall good value for what I paid and will probably come back, just frustrated at the pace of play.

Great price, course conditions were very good and greens were best Ive played all year!!! Staff was friendly, beautiful course, tons of fun. Will definitely be back.

Love the course. However pace of play can get a bogged down.

Rhe greens were immaculate, the fairways in very nice shape, the tee boxes were great and the price is very reasonable. Highly recommend that you play this course.

The greens were absolutely perfect, the fairways in very good condition and the tee boxes were also very good. I have played 5 local courses in the last 2 weeks and these greens were absolutely perfect. I am headed back soon.
