Riverside Golf Club
About
Riverside Golf Club is appropriately named. The course sits in a floodplain along the Trinity River with water in play on seemingly every hole. This is a combination links-style/traditional layout that is surprisingly difficult for a municipal course. Great holes abound on the Roger Packard layout, which requires the rare combination of length and accuracy when playing from the tips.
Holes 4-6 offer one of the better stretches of golf, starting with a 462-yard par 4 that is cut in the landing area by pesky fairway bunkers, and features a long approach into an elevated green that is surrounded by water and slopes back-to-front. Club down on no. 4 because leaving it short still offers the chance for an up-and-down. No. 5 is a good par 3, especially from the middle tees where it generally plays as a short iron. Watch for the front pin placement, which can leave you with a long downhill putt if the tee shot is too long. Water looms to the right but it takes a bad shank to dunk it in the drink. No. 6 goes 543 yards, doglegging left along the Trinity with water fronting the green. The tee shot must be long and straight, and anything too far right leaves a precarious second shot around the bend.
The back side is the more fun of the two, taking you through good combinations of holes that offer excellent birdie opportunities if you’re on your game. You'll need those birds when you come down the home stretch.

Slow pace of play
Have played here before and had a good experience. The course was in decent shape, but the pace of play was too slow and it killed the round.
Back in play
Considering the course just opened after being flooded it was OK the front nine was in good shape but the back nine is in rough condition with NO sand in 70% of the bunkers. Many areas on the back nine are muddy and not accessible. The greens are in good shape. Prior to the weather the course was in great shape and I know they will have it back to standard ASAP. At this point it is not a good dollar value and fees should be reduced until the course is 100%.
Extra water hazards
Overall the course is in good shape considering all the rain and the flooding this course had over the past month. A lot of standing water where there is supposed to be fairways. I've never lost so many balls IN the fairway. Haha!
One hole was switched to a par 3, from a par four because of the flooding.
The greens were in excellent shape considering all the past rain. Once the fairways are dry and drained, the overall conditions will be great.
Pace of play wasn't bad for a Saturday morning. We finished just under four hours.
I will definitely return and play. Hopefully the "extra" hazards will be gone.
Poor greens for the price.
Charged me for 2 players 100 dollars. And everything was still under water. Not a good idea to charge full price for bad greens.
Challening course with lots of water
Played Riverside today with my best friend of 20 years. Rained off and on during the round but not heavy enough to disrupt play. Most of the bunkers had 6-8 inches of water in them. With all of the rain we have been getting here in the area, the overall drainage of the course was pretty good. Greens and fairways were great even with the weather, but the numerous water hazards on the course made up for that. Staff was pretty good but you could tell that a lot of them did not want to be out in the rain :).
Good course
Windy but not unbearable. The greens are true and the traps are well maintained. Fun course at a great price and good for amatures. The course is open, not a lot of trees but you'll lose some balls in water on a few holes.
Nice,but slow round
Everything was great except a 5 hour round. It was the best weather day of year so far, probably why so crowded.
Good course
Challenging course, greens and fairways good shape, I'll be back soon
Decent track conveniant to DFW Airport
Played this course mid week before a late afternoon flight out of DFW. It was in decent condition except for the bunkers which were very wet, some full of water. The course is a pretty fun design, although there are a couple funky holes and the greens are small. This is the first and only course I have played in the area so I don't know how it compares to other courses. Overall I enjoyed my experience and would play there again. It was a great way to kill time before catching my flight.
Beautiful day. Beautiful course.
The course was in excellent condition. If you kept it on the fairway it was well manicured and in good repair. The bunkers had little sand, but were playable. Recent rain no doubt was the cause.
very nice course
played here many times and stopped because of so called "golf" players with poor manners . course is great ,, good maintenance . marshall should enforce and kick out golfers with poor etiquette . i would not rec to friends bc of those players. the course itself is great!
A gem in the Heart of DFW
Riverside is a gem in the heart of DFW. With plenty of water, hazards, creeks, grass and some narrow fairways, this course is challenging. The par 3's are spectacular and a few par 5's reachable from the blue tees, in 2, with a well placed tee shot. Greens roll true, although it will take a few rounds to get used to the speed. We fell in love with Riverside, and will be back again, and again.
First time challenging course
Course was in great shape, a few wet spots but it poured the night before. Some sand traps had large puddles, only landed in one and was just damp. I would say this course is not for a beginner. You should be fairly confident of your drives, and lengths of your iron play, lots of water, so intimidation could factor in your confidence. I definitely will play this again, as I pretty much a regular at "The Golf Club at the Resort" player in N. Fort Worth.
the course was in very goid shape
Course is challenging especially with gusty winds that day. Enough water to keep you on your toes. Some tight fairways. Greens were pretty quick.
Local Knowledge a Plus
Attention to club selection required as there are several risk/reward opportunities. Avoid bunkers due to lack of depth of actual sand. An overall challenging experience.
Riverside
Riverside is a great course for the money! Excellent greens, fairways, and tee boxes. They have a decent practice facility and very outgoing staff!
Great golf for a great price
This is one of my favorite courses in the DFW area. You can't beat the price for the challenge this course will bring you. Very well kept and groomed. Lots of challenging hills, length and traps.
Nice course but
Course was in pretty good shape. Only complaint was pace of play. We had to wait on virtually every hole.
