Riverside Golf Club
About
Riverside Golf Club is appropriately named. The course sits in a floodplain along the Trinity River with water in play on seemingly every hole. This is a combination links-style/traditional layout that is surprisingly difficult for a municipal course. Great holes abound on the Roger Packard layout, which requires the rare combination of length and accuracy when playing from the tips.
Holes 4-6 offer one of the better stretches of golf, starting with a 462-yard par 4 that is cut in the landing area by pesky fairway bunkers, and features a long approach into an elevated green that is surrounded by water and slopes back-to-front. Club down on no. 4 because leaving it short still offers the chance for an up-and-down. No. 5 is a good par 3, especially from the middle tees where it generally plays as a short iron. Watch for the front pin placement, which can leave you with a long downhill putt if the tee shot is too long. Water looms to the right but it takes a bad shank to dunk it in the drink. No. 6 goes 543 yards, doglegging left along the Trinity with water fronting the green. The tee shot must be long and straight, and anything too far right leaves a precarious second shot around the bend.
The back side is the more fun of the two, taking you through good combinations of holes that offer excellent birdie opportunities if you’re on your game. You'll need those birds when you come down the home stretch.

Nice, well-maintained course! I'll be back
Greens were smooth with no dead patches. Fairways we uniformly nice. My wife and I were paired up with a single who was a very nice companion. Some holes were a little long for my wife's taste (400+ yds from ladies tees)...she also complained that she didn't get enough yardage advantage versus the white tees. Course meanders along the Trinity River with some nice views if your ball takes to you the edges of the fairways.
Riverside
Golf staff was courteous, but made no effort to pair up groups. F&B staff were not paying attention too much to what you said to them, was more interested in getting your money in the till and you out the door. No marshalls on the back 9 at all. Foursome would not let a twosome go through ahead of me. They waited on every shot from hole 7 to 18.
Bunkers have large rocks, so check your lie before playing a bunker shot.
Great course, but.....
We have played this course numerous times and the course is in great shape. We were on the 18th tee box when I heard my car alarm go off. When I got to the parking lot I realized someone shattered my driver side door window. Now it makes sense all the signs in the parking lot about locking your car etc...It's hard to believe someone would break in your car in broad daylight, but it did happen. The police department called me back after 2 hours of reporting the crime. Great course, but turned out to be the most expensive round I've played. Be careful playing this course!
Great course
Great course, in good condition, fun, and challenging
Great Course for a change of pace
I have been playing riverside off and on for 17 years now. The currently the course is in the best shape it has probably ever been in. Given the water challenges North Texas has that is no small feat. The course generally will not penalize you severely for errant tee shots except near the river and you have to hook it. The Blue tees of 6 were moved up that day so it took the fun out of that hole, turns it from the #1 hdcp into just a short par 4. All in all, there are other courses around you will pay $20 more for and not find better conditions. The pace of play rating just reflects the Sunday crowd at this course, not the course itself.
Course has nice layout
It's open and has some challenging holes. Greens were in great shape. Took 5 hrs to play 18 so pace a little slower than I like.
Great course
Challenging, well kept fairways greens, and fun course.
Summer at Riverside
Rough off the fairway too thick, can't find your ball 5 feet off the fairway. Course is in great shape, no dead spots, greens rolling true , the sand traps need work, pretty rocky.
Nice course.
Play was very slow, five hour round. The course was fun to play and I will play there again.
Great course overall
This course is a great time when the weather is nice. The course plays fast and the greens are great. Nice mix of different shots off the tees and pin selection. This course is challenging for all levels of play. Great lay out and use of the surrounding area. When you get out on the course you will forget real fast that you are in the city thanks to the lush texas shrubbery.
Fun course
For the money it's a good value. Folks are nice and follow golfers are good people. Would play it again.
Challenging Course
Rewards accuracy; penalizes missing fairways. Course is in good shape, including the greens. Staff is friendly and helpful.
Friendly staff, good condition, usually not crowded
The twilight rate of $25 is a steal. The course is usually not super crowded so it's easy to go off as a single and play 18 with time to spare.
Love the gps in the carts, friendly staff, Nice facilities. Overall I would recommend this course to anyone.
Nice track
I was in Dallas for work and got stuck over the weekend. Did a quick search for a course and found this gem. It was reasonably priced. As I pulled up to he course the clubhouse looked like a mobile home and the course seemed a bit brown. I was surprised. The clubhouse wasn't much, but I'm not there to hangout in the clubhouse. The fairways were green and the greens were nice. They were recovering from some aeration earlier. All in all though it was a good, challenging course. I would avoid playing late in the day like me. It was 112°!
Ready spoils the game
Before long they will be asking you to not even get ok of the cart to hit the ball. Just to speed up the game more. All in. Effort to get more people on the course to get more money.
First Timer
First time playing this course and I have to say it was challenging. Several holes have blind tees shot or blind second shots. Relatively hilly. The only bad thing I really have to say about the course is they recently aerated the greens so they didn't roll true. Other than that it was a nice day and not crowded at all. I will play this course again.
Great Course
Great course. Great conditions. SLOW ROUND! Nice cart girls
Great course with wonderful features
Each time I have played the course it presences a different challenge which makes this course a joy to play ..
First Time at Riverside
Had a great time, but only got to play 9 holes because the heat got to us. Course manager gave us a rain check for the back 9 which I thought was a great customer oriented gesture. Thank You. Even though we were a threesome, we were a little rusty so allowed a few groups to play through and they were friendly about our slow play. Overall we had a good time and will be back.
