Riverside Golf Club
About
Riverside Golf Club is appropriately named. The course sits in a floodplain along the Trinity River with water in play on seemingly every hole. This is a combination links-style/traditional layout that is surprisingly difficult for a municipal course. Great holes abound on the Roger Packard layout, which requires the rare combination of length and accuracy when playing from the tips.
Holes 4-6 offer one of the better stretches of golf, starting with a 462-yard par 4 that is cut in the landing area by pesky fairway bunkers, and features a long approach into an elevated green that is surrounded by water and slopes back-to-front. Club down on no. 4 because leaving it short still offers the chance for an up-and-down. No. 5 is a good par 3, especially from the middle tees where it generally plays as a short iron. Watch for the front pin placement, which can leave you with a long downhill putt if the tee shot is too long. Water looms to the right but it takes a bad shank to dunk it in the drink. No. 6 goes 543 yards, doglegging left along the Trinity with water fronting the green. The tee shot must be long and straight, and anything too far right leaves a precarious second shot around the bend.
The back side is the more fun of the two, taking you through good combinations of holes that offer excellent birdie opportunities if you’re on your game. You'll need those birds when you come down the home stretch.

Beautiful day. Beautiful course.
The course was in excellent condition. If you kept it on the fairway it was well manicured and in good repair. The bunkers had little sand, but were playable. Recent rain no doubt was the cause.
very nice course
played here many times and stopped because of so called "golf" players with poor manners . course is great ,, good maintenance . marshall should enforce and kick out golfers with poor etiquette . i would not rec to friends bc of those players. the course itself is great!
A gem in the Heart of DFW
Riverside is a gem in the heart of DFW. With plenty of water, hazards, creeks, grass and some narrow fairways, this course is challenging. The par 3's are spectacular and a few par 5's reachable from the blue tees, in 2, with a well placed tee shot. Greens roll true, although it will take a few rounds to get used to the speed. We fell in love with Riverside, and will be back again, and again.
First time challenging course
Course was in great shape, a few wet spots but it poured the night before. Some sand traps had large puddles, only landed in one and was just damp. I would say this course is not for a beginner. You should be fairly confident of your drives, and lengths of your iron play, lots of water, so intimidation could factor in your confidence. I definitely will play this again, as I pretty much a regular at "The Golf Club at the Resort" player in N. Fort Worth.
the course was in very goid shape
Course is challenging especially with gusty winds that day. Enough water to keep you on your toes. Some tight fairways. Greens were pretty quick.
Local Knowledge a Plus
Attention to club selection required as there are several risk/reward opportunities. Avoid bunkers due to lack of depth of actual sand. An overall challenging experience.
Riverside
Riverside is a great course for the money! Excellent greens, fairways, and tee boxes. They have a decent practice facility and very outgoing staff!
Great golf for a great price
This is one of my favorite courses in the DFW area. You can't beat the price for the challenge this course will bring you. Very well kept and groomed. Lots of challenging hills, length and traps.
Nice course but
Course was in pretty good shape. Only complaint was pace of play. We had to wait on virtually every hole.
Great golf course to use all your clubs
I love this golf course. It allows you to practice your golf management game. It is a great course with a variety of challenging but fun holes. Great views. It can be slow at times but overall it is the best course around for the $.
I play this course year round.
Tough course
Wasn't kept up very well. Still a very nice place to play, will have to go back in better season.
fast but fair
Good course for a muni, has some very challenging holes and the greens are fast and roll true. Cart girl very friendly, and staff was eager to help. We never saw a marshal and even though it was good weather and a Friday we did not really need a marshal once we rolled up on the group in front of us on the 3rd hole in a roll. Bunkers needed some work but for this time of the year the fairways were yellow but full and the rough was about 3 inches. If you do not watch out the front nine can eat alot of your balls with naked doglegs and blind tee shots but the back nine is very forgiving if not longer. ood course so go play using the golfnow discount.
Great Course
Great course, lots of water and hazards, one of the tougher public courses in area. Fast greens. Clubhouse could use some improvement and range butts into a couple holes. Little pricey, but other than that, great course. Will play much more
very nice course
First time playing Riverside. Wide open track, but good layout with lots of challenging holes. Conditions very good, and greens were firm and fast. Staff very welcoming. We are here from out of the area, and will definitely return. Too close to the highway to be really first-rate, but not a real problem.
Pretty good.
Course is just fine but the person in charge of booking tee times is a complete moron.
average Golf course with bad golfer
There were no marshal on sight. There were drunk golfer in front of us. Each taking multiple tee shots , just simple bad etiquette golfer. But there were no marshal on our 5 plus hours round to speed these idiots up. Course is ok. Probably will never go again.
Among my least favorite courses in DFW
I rarely play Riverside, and every time I do, remember why. It's one of the slowest courses in the whole Metroplex, and has a disinterested staff that just couldn't care less. The course layout and conditions are about average, nothing special or interesting, but the freeway location attracts big crowds, including lots of hackers, and I've never seen a marshall on the course. Five hour rounds are normal here, often after waiting for a cart. There are just far too many better options..don't waste your time at Riverside.
Great for the money
This was the first golf course I have played in the Dallas area since moving down here, so this review comes with that caveat, but I have played at courses all over the country and this course definitely stands up.
Don't expect anything country club type level, but everything is excellent for a public course. The fairways/tee boxes/greens were all in great shape especially for the time of year. The practice facilities had everything you could want. The carts had GPS in them which was awesome. Beverage cart was stocked nicely. Great tent/grill at the turn for beer/food instead of having to run to the club house holding everyone up.
Overall for the money, you can't beat it. Highly recommended.
No electricity,limited food and beverage
Greens were excellent, fairways were healing well from being punched, rough was either deep or bare and hard as a rock. Had a great time.
