About
Legendary Oaks Golf Club is part of the Lawrence Marshall Family Recreation Center in Hempstead, about an hour northwest of Houston. Stretching to a lengthy 7,061 yards for the back tees, the course boasts several holes that long hitters will enjoy. The layout's par 3s are known to be particularly challenging. The golf course will put your distance to the test but you'll find that accuracy is also needed when negotiating the tighter spots on the course. Water hazards come into play frequently throughout the golf course and there are also many strategically placed bunkers and mature trees to watch out for. Legendary Oaks Golf Club's final hole is a par 4 that demands a tee shot over water while a large willow tree guards the left side and a bunker protects the right. The challenges continue on the uphill second shot.

Needs a lot of TLC
Having played this course many times over the years we got even less than expected. Tee boxes are in rough shape, literally! Tees have grass and weeds up to 2” tall, they are not close to level. Fairways hadn’t been cut in a while and bunkers are unkept, even if one wanted to rake the bunkers there were either no rakes or rakes broken in half. The greens were the only bright spot, soft and rolled true albeit quite slow. Water hard to find on course, very little ice to be had in proshop, and the bathrooms are filthy.

Great Sunday morning round
had a 7am tee time and ended up being the 1st group of the day. Course was in good shape and had a great time.

Great course for the value
Course is in good shape. Players need to learn to fix divots on the greens but that is not the courses fault. Great value for a nice course.

Dry
Course fairways and bunkers are dry and hard. With drought it’s expected. Greens are good. Just don’t understand raising prices if no work to course.

Played on a Sunday afternoon. 3 hours for 9 holes. Quit at the turn. Enough said.

getting better
play here often, not a member but should be. A few months ago, it was kind of bad. NO grass on greens, sand traps were not ever taken care of. But lately fairways have sufficient amount of green grass, Greens are 99%+ covered in good grass, but they are slow. Sand traps are getting better. They have been working Hard to improve the course and with this drought, that can't be easy. For that I say thanks for the hard work Ya'll been doing. Great place to play for the money. As always, the staff is friendly and helpful. They might be looking into serious repair on the cart bridges(wooden bridges) Also need to repair the erosion problem on Hole 15. I pray nobody falls in the hole. But love playing there!!!!

Great greens
The greens were all in great shape. They were freshly mowed. If this area starts to receive some rainfall, I’m sure they will be mowed an additional degree, adding a bit more speed to the greens.

Even with the drought, course is improving. Not perfect, but for the price you cant beat it. Really enjoy LO and the staff is great.

The course has a fairly difficult layout but currently is still undergoing repairs caused by the Polar Vortex of last year! Fairways still have some minor baldness issues. The green have made a fantastic recovery just in the past two months. Really enjoy this course and the staff is always top-notch!!
