About
Legendary Oaks Golf Club is part of the Lawrence Marshall Family Recreation Center in Hempstead, about an hour northwest of Houston. Stretching to a lengthy 7,061 yards for the back tees, the course boasts several holes that long hitters will enjoy. The layout's par 3s are known to be particularly challenging. The golf course will put your distance to the test but you'll find that accuracy is also needed when negotiating the tighter spots on the course. Water hazards come into play frequently throughout the golf course and there are also many strategically placed bunkers and mature trees to watch out for. Legendary Oaks Golf Club's final hole is a par 4 that demands a tee shot over water while a large willow tree guards the left side and a bunker protects the right. The challenges continue on the uphill second shot.

Bad Weather the Cause
Okay for a public course. Unfortunately, due to severe cold weather in February, this course and surrounding courses within 40-50 miles suffered severe damages to their greens. . .Current greens are in rough condition and will be a couple of months recovering. .

Horrible pace of play
We were a twosome waiting EVERY shot for a Fivesome to slow play, on a Thursday over 4 hours for a round is hard to justify. No marshals on the course

Worst greens I’ve ever stepped on
The “greens” were so bad, you truly won’t be playing golf by the time you get to them. More like shuffle board with obstacles. I felt ashamed for playing there. It was like I did something bad to someone and they wished this golf experience on me, so to whoever that was I can only say I’m sorry.
It took 4 hours and 45 minutes to complete, so pace of play was pretty slow but I guess I’ve had worse on a Saturday morning. Marshall came by to tell us to try and pick up our pace, literally when we had to wait to tee off due to the group in front of us. Not sure how to react in that situation other than assume he’s lifted, so good for him.
Unless you’ve never played golf before, I wouldn’t suggest playing here for any price. I drove an hour and that was the best part.

Course was in fairly good shape, except for a few greens that they are going to re-do because of the February freeze.
Wanted to play before temporary greens start next week.

Staff is nice, good for playing with groups. Green fees shouldn’t exist because all greens are brown.

Greens
Needs lots of work on course. All greens are dead! Bridges need work for safety!

Greens need lots of work
I believe the winter freeze took its toll on the greens. The fairways are OK but the sandctraps are full of water. Fortunately I wasn't in the sand often. In the past the course has been nicely maintained & I trust it will be again

Golf Now Sucks
This review is for golf now.. I accidentally booked the date and Golf Now would not let me change the date so I had to pay twice. What a rip off!!! They count on people making mistakes and capitalize on it. Don’t use the app it is a rip off!!!

Greens
#8 & #16 geeens didn’t have any grass at all. Small patch on #8. Although all greens had some bad spots, most were ok. The fairways were in really good shape & there was a couple mowers cutting the rough, just in time for another week of rain.

Where are the greens?
Nice people. Great pace of play. But the tee boxes were terrible and the greens non-existent. Only two greens had grass. The rest were a combination of dirt and rough.

Bad greens
Poor green conditions are somewhat excusable in winter, but not in May. Serious problems on multiple greens. Inconsistent greens with multiple patches of disease and bare spots. Very slow pace of play. Needs better marshaling.

Course in bad shape
Good luck putting on those greens! Or should I say browns, some had no grass.

Not for a long time
Never say never! But, darn! Worst kept course I have play in over 5 years. 2 greens were green. The rest were dirt or spotted. Bunkers were dried mud flats
