About
Legendary Oaks Golf Club is part of the Lawrence Marshall Family Recreation Center in Hempstead, about an hour northwest of Houston. Stretching to a lengthy 7,061 yards for the back tees, the course boasts several holes that long hitters will enjoy. The layout's par 3s are known to be particularly challenging. The golf course will put your distance to the test but you'll find that accuracy is also needed when negotiating the tighter spots on the course. Water hazards come into play frequently throughout the golf course and there are also many strategically placed bunkers and mature trees to watch out for. Legendary Oaks Golf Club's final hole is a par 4 that demands a tee shot over water while a large willow tree guards the left side and a bunker protects the right. The challenges continue on the uphill second shot.

Few greens in rough condition due to re-seeding but in 2 weeks should be in great shape.
Has seen better days
A once really nice course has been in decline for a while now.
Im guessing greens aren’t recovering from the freeze earlier this year. Mostly bare, very wet and soft.
Fairways were ok but a lot of bare spots.
Glad I got a really cheap green fee.
Won’t be going back until conditions improve dramatically.

Save your money don’t play here
Legendary Oaks was once a great little country golf course with a nice layout. The course has never been in optimal condition but today what is something totally different. There was literally no grass on the greens mud and fungus no grass in the fairways also mud. It had been raining last night but this had nothing to do with the poor course condition. I’m not sure of the course can recover without a complete makeover. The cost was $48 today and at $15 it would not have been a good value.

Goat Ranch
This course is in bad need of work. The greens for the most part in terrible shape, the tee boxes abysmal. Fairways were intermittently bad or moderately bad depending on the hole. Vey bad distance marking, nasty clubhouse bathroom - just overall neglect and mismanage of a course that is laid out fairly intriguing.
If the cost wasn't so reasonable I would rate this place even lower.

Good Layout But Needs Grass
Fun layout but the overall condition of the course is poor. Hopefully, spring will see the grass on the fairways and tee boxes grow in.

Course needs work
I have been playing Legendary Oaks for many years and can say the greens were the worst I have ever seen. Not much grass and much of green is hard mud. I play other similar level courses in the area whose fairways and greens are dramatically better.
LO needs to hire another greens keeper or they will start losing many customers.
I like LO since it is a great value thru Golf Now discounts, however, I can no longer convince my golfing buddies to play there.

This course was in terrible conditions
This course was by far in the worst conditions I have ever seen or played on. For $45 dollars you’d at least expect to be able to see where the greens start and end. The greens were 90% sand. Had to play through a sprinkler running while we played as well. Fairways, well there weren’t any. Absolutely terrible course. I will never play there again!

Have seen the course in better shape
Course is in bad shape. Greens are almost all sand. Fairways are very patchy. Needs some serious TLC. Hope they get this fixed, used to be a great course.

Excruciatingly slow play
The pace of play was 4 1/2 hours. The ranger/ marshal was more interested in having a beer with his mates in the group in front than getting the groups to speed up in front. We waited every shot on every hole.

Good iron practice but terrible greens
An underfunded course with minimal practice areas and extremely bad greens but inexpensive and good practice until you get to the greens. The area around the clubhouse is very poorly maintained with minimal facilities.
Their gas powered golf carts are fantastic.

Freeze took its toll
The course was in decent shape. Had a 1050 am tee time. Course was still really wet from sprinklers. And obviously the recent winter freeze is playing havoc with the greens. Fairways need a good bit of work. Lots of clumps and dirt spots.

Awful conditions
I have NEVER seen this course in such poor shape. I understand the hard freeze can explain the dead greens that are equivalent to putting on tarmac....but the the fairways are literally dirt with small tufts of grass. I sure hope the “Hiring Course Maintenance Manager” sign in the window doesn’t stay up for long. Definitely won’t be back until conditions improve, even at twenty a round it’s not worth it. On the bright side, pace of play was amazing...I guess most have figured out what I did.
