About
Legendary Oaks Golf Club is part of the Lawrence Marshall Family Recreation Center in Hempstead, about an hour northwest of Houston. Stretching to a lengthy 7,061 yards for the back tees, the course boasts several holes that long hitters will enjoy. The layout's par 3s are known to be particularly challenging. The golf course will put your distance to the test but you'll find that accuracy is also needed when negotiating the tighter spots on the course. Water hazards come into play frequently throughout the golf course and there are also many strategically placed bunkers and mature trees to watch out for. Legendary Oaks Golf Club's final hole is a par 4 that demands a tee shot over water while a large willow tree guards the left side and a bunker protects the right. The challenges continue on the uphill second shot.

Not a bad Plan B
Course is what you would call a muni. Nice country course with some nice holes. Course is a bit pasture like with some unplayable areas. I would imagine that it gets a fair amount of play from the locals. Greens fair to middlin—not too fast, not too slow. However it has a lot of areas that need some TLC.
Dead of summer review
The course was absolutely packed but the pace was still reasonable. Fairways not manicured and was very muched mixed grasses but still very playable. I will be back

The course is in good condition even after the rain we had last night. They need to explain to the maintenance staff that mowing right next to a tee box while someone is on it is not the right way to do things. They also need to be mowing at slower times and not following you up the fairways. Its good they at least have some on course beverage sales.

Somehow you get less than what you pay for .
I payed 20$ to play this course , and it was the equivalent of lighting on fire. The fairways were so overgrown it felt like I was hitting out of my backyard. Tons of bunkers on the course right ? Nope. The bunkers have turned into retention ponds and have not been drained. The greens feel like your ball is moving in slow motion. It amazes me how somehow can pay 20$ for a course and be left so unsatisfied . I only recommend this course if you want to experience an episode of black mirror . Place feels like it was left in the 1980’s .

Landscaping needs
the course is designed well. The sad part is they have not maintained the fairways or greens. Pace of play was slow. Marshal didnt move things along.

SANDED GREENS
Greens have recently been sanded , however that is a good thing in my opinion as ownership continues to try and improve this course. Fairways are a little rough and bunkers are not in great shape but playable. Pace of play was good, Looking forward to a few weeks as the greens should be a lot better. Overall had a nice time and price during week days are reasonable however can get a little more expensive on weekends and not worth the money or drive out. Still had a great time with buddies playing this course layout . However the number 6 hole which is pretty unique with o moat of water surrounding the green needs some TLC around the 100 yd and in lay up area, Looking forward to the next few weeks and the improvement of the griese I do recommend getting out and playing this course

The course needs better maintenance
I was disappointed that the greens were being worked on during play - we had to skip two holes - also the sand traps have been in need of repair for a long time as they are always like wet clay due to poor drainage and very little sand - I do like the layout but the mowers don’t get close enough to the trees along the fairways and there are fallen tree branches under the trees

Rate of play was absolutely terrible. The 'Ranger' drove around drinking beer while many golfers stood around waiting for large groups to play.

Struggling
Although the staff was very kind and attentive the pace of play was terrible. There were six players on one team ahead of us including a five year old kid who would teeoff periodically.
Will not return.

Good course for the price !
Played at 7:50 on a Thursday and pace was good.
Be aware local seniors tee off 8:00 until 9:30 Don't get caught behind that if you can avoid it.
Plenty of grass although not the correct kind. A lot depends on when they mow.
Greens are good but a bit slow.

Good Course for the money
It was the first time I have played it. My son was in town over the 4th weekend and we played the course and had a lot of fun. They paired us with two other players that were enjoyable to play with. For the money, it is well forth the trip from Cypress.
