Legendary Oaks Golf Course
About
Legendary Oaks Golf Club is part of the Lawrence Marshall Family Recreation Center in Hempstead, about an hour northwest of Houston. Stretching to a lengthy 7,061 yards for the back tees, the course boasts several holes that long hitters will enjoy. The layout's par 3s are known to be particularly challenging. The golf course will put your distance to the test but you'll find that accuracy is also needed when negotiating the tighter spots on the course. Water hazards come into play frequently throughout the golf course and there are also many strategically placed bunkers and mature trees to watch out for. Legendary Oaks Golf Club's final hole is a par 4 that demands a tee shot over water while a large willow tree guards the left side and a bunker protects the right. The challenges continue on the uphill second shot.

Greens
Greens are looking better than they have in a long time they still need some work but much better . I still enjoy playing because of the local convenience
6 years here
I’ve played this course for 6 years. I’ve seen the business change owners and transition over the last 3 months to again being best in value and eliminated temp greens! Outstanding work done. Keep it up! Not the course it was 3 months ago.
getting there
About a month ago, I had told myself that I would never go back to play there again. It was absolutely horrible. But it seems like that the crews are working hard to bring the course back to playable. Good course for the price!
Course is improving
Played here a couple months back and even though it was cheap, the temporary greens were not very enjoyable, but now all the temporary greens are gone, they are new carts and the prices even got a little lower which is always nice. the course conditions have improved and I’ve heard they got a new superintendent so I think they will continue to get better and better. I’ll definitely be coming back
Can’t beat the price
This course is a great place to work on your game. Most of these reviews say this place is a pasture. I don’t know what they expect to get when they pay $30 to play golf. The value of this course exceeds this price, especially for the layout. It is constantly improving as of recent. All you in the comments who expect Augusta for $20 can take your greedy attitudes somewhere else.
Little to no upkeep
Over the last 20+ years this course has gone thru so many changes, some good, most bad. The “fairways” had 3” tall weeds and grassy weeds. Tee boxes were unkempt, bunkers had grass growing in them and the greens were slow, bumpy and had grassy weeds growing on most. I’m sure when Jay Riviere did the redesign and expansion of this course he never envisioned how poor the conditions of this course would become.
Steadily Improving!
Played 2 months or so ago and course conditions were brutal. Gave it another shot last week and noticed improvement. Went again today and thoroughly enjoyed it. You can tell they’ve been putting some work into the course recently. Greens have improved a lot in the past couple months. Can’t really beat it for the $ when you get a hot deal.
Rather Drink Dirty Bath Water
I don’t know how this course is open. We were losing balls on the fairway due to conditions. Putting was similar to putting on a cow pasture. I don’t even play golf that often so I’m not picky, but this place is terrible.
The course was a disaster. The fairways were either not properly cut or had grass clippings pilled up all over the place. These clippings where so thick I lost several balls in the fair way grass clippings. If you make it through the fairway and onto a green you were treated with a minefield. The greens were potmarked with patches of no grass at all, marks filled in with sand, grooves cut across the greens. It was a literal crap shoot as to whether or not you would actually have any control over where the ball went. I am very disappointed with this course and do not plan on coming back.
Great golf. Horrible fairway and greens.
I love golfing here. But, the course conditions have deteriorated so bad. It’s really too bad. Overgrown, over watered. Greens keepers need some serious help.
Overhaul needed
Disaster conditions, has been this way for 2 years. Really needs to be place under TLC! Don’t waste your money until at least summer 2025
Poor Conditions
Didn't know the course was going to be in such disarray. Rough was just tall grass where u lose your ball instantly and greens are missing patches of grass completely.
Couldn’t have been any worse
To start with, we got there early to hit a few range balls in the covered area. All of the hitting mats were missing the rubber tee so you couldn’t drive from them. We got our cart, and before hole 2 we had to exchange it because of lack of maintenance. The entire course was over grown so bad that we were losing balls on the fairway. We haven’t had rain in over a week, and they have neglected to mow the course. The last time the course was mowed, it was mowed wet, and there was huge clumps of dead grass everywhere. Every single green that was open was so rough, that a slight putt would send the ball jumping left, right, and airborne. The temporary greens they have are even worse! They have holes that is literally just the fairway! In my opinion, this is the worst course I’ve ever played. I’ve been to legendary oaks a few times, and it’s definitely getting worse. This is definitely my last time booking a tee time at this course, it’s not worth what they are charging. When I went to the clubhouse to make a complaint, the worker looked at me, said sorry, and that was the end of the conversation.
Needs work, but fun layout
Course layout is interesting. Upkeep leaves a lot to be desired. 2/18 greens are in good shape. The rest are pretty rough. Greens feel like you are putting on the fairway. Good course to work on distances and irons. Some greens weren’t even worth putting on. With all that said, we will go back because it is cheap, people are friendly and course is challenging.
Golf Now needs to re-think their cancellation policy due to weather
Course was closed while we waited to play because of weather. Golf Now will not refund the money because we had started our round even though we were on the first hole.
