Irving Golf Club
About
From the fairways of Irving (formerly known as Twin Wells), you can see the skyline of downtown Dallas–a nice aesthetic for this fun, user-friendly municipal. The course is mostly an open, links-style design, although a few holes that roll along the Trinity River favor a traditional-style on the back nine.
Hole 3 stands out on the front: a 437-yard dogleg left that is protected by fairway bunkers. On the back, No. 11 is the most difficult–another long par 4 at 451 yards.
Getting there : From Hwy. 183 east, take Loop 12 south and exit Shady Grove Rd. Turn left, drive a short distance to the course, look for the clubhouse on the right side of the street.

Won't go back
We reserved our time tee as a double. When we got to the course they told us we would be paired up with another double. We have never been to a course where they force you to be paried. We decided not to play and will not book a tee time at this course again.
Much Work Needed
I was starting to write a very lengthy review of this course but realized that most of those type of reviews get overlooked for short-hand information. This is my experience of the course in the shortest possible manner I could achieve:
The layout of the holes was the best attribute for this course. Well placed natural hazards and the sense of getting away from the city was quite enjoyable. However, the conditions of the course were TERRIBLE. Some holes were drenched in water, others were like hitting off of dried mud. But ALL of the holes were littered with beer cans and cigarette butts among other various pieces of garbage. The greens weren't terrible but many lower end courses have much better. I understand this is a municipal course and those don't usually have the funding like other courses but much of the problems with this course is simply labor; picking up trash, fishing the water hazards for beer cans and other trash, removing dead brush from water hazards and fairways, pulling weeds, proper watering. On hole 4, my friend and I saw what looked like human feces and toilet paper lying in the fairway, though neither of us wanted to get close enough to find out. Even if it wasnt what we expected, there was still tons of animal waste lying around the course, this particular area was much different from the others we saw though. The staff was friendly although not much of a 19th hole. My final impression was that this course lacked simple and cheap renovations like removal of trash and proper watering of the holes. The grounds crew could easily make this course beautiful with just a couple weeks of hard work and attentiveness. And if they do happen to practice these measures, then it is a shame that the locals and regulars would treat ANY golf course this way. Its hard to say what runs this course into the ground but it is easy to say "stay away". i only payed $10 for my round and I will never pay even that again to play this course until some big changes occur. I take no pleasure in bad reviews as this, it was just that bad.
Cheap fees, great for practice
I'm a decent golfer, this course is great for beginners, or those wanting to tool around with real scenario golf shots at a low price. Great for practice rounds is what I'm getting at without spending 90$ just to practice. Stay on the fairway and you're fine. Typical after winter conditions. Friendly staff. Don't think there's a real dress code here. This place actually is pretty just after Spring like most courses around DFW, especially for the price. Perfect ultra casual golf atmosphere. Nothing fancy , but not completely disgusting either. Take your kids teach them here.
Good course
Very open
Greens were fast
We played a 4some and we finished on time
Good bang for your buck for your weekend golfer
I've played this course many times. After looking for the best course I could find without busting my wallet, Twin Wells has been my choice. Sure, you can find more plush courses, but you'll pay for it. And if you play as often as I do, it becomes pricy. Twin Wells will challenge your game, not your wallet.
The Terrible Golfing Experience
I've always liked the course in the past. It was in immaculate condition? Have the owners changed? They are not maintains the course. They need to re do the whole course. There were potholes in the middle of the fairway.
The bunkers were deplorable. I don't ever have to play this course again, in this state.
people very friendly
staff and players there very friendly and makes you feel welcomed.
greens are in good shapeand its a fun course to play.
Public course
This was a public course in need of attention. The weeds had taken over most the rough and some of the fairways. The greens were not that bad, but the players there could really help by repairing their ball marks. I believe that this course could be a great place to play if the city would invest in it. The lay out was interesting, with a few holes that play tuff. If your in the Dallas area try then out, maybe the extra players will help the city decide this is a nice course to invest in and can be a bright spot for public golf in the Dallas, Fort Worth area.
Nice course to practice
This course is a good value, but don't criticize if the fairways are not to perfection, Lots of fire ant hills, and some weeds. Under $30 for a round should be your cut off point. If your going to pay more, suggest you try a different course with slightly better greens and fairways. I not that good of golfer, so if this was better in conditions I doubt my game would be any better.
Side note: we played a day after it rained, and many of the bunkers were full of water. Could use a better drain system out sand traps.
Will spend my money elsewhere
I normally have my golfing buddy with me but today i decided to play a round by myself to get some practice in.
Once i arrived i go to check in and the guy at the counter was very cordail to the gentleman in front of me, but once i tell him my name and tee time his attitude changed. He tossed the cart key on the counter besides handing it to me as if he was unhappy that i was playing the course at well under their normal green fees.
So as i grab my cart and go to the 1st tee box i hear the attendant tell me and another guy to pair up. Then 5mins later he came down and asked to take my cart without any reason. I was paired with a older getlman (60+)
I wont be going back there.
great time
Great course. Only issue was there was no drink cart on Sundays.
Cool layout
I think the layout of this gc is very fun. A variety of different shots are required off of the tee and there is plenty of trouble to be found.
The course was pretty burnt up, and greens were battling late summer weather and crab grass.
However despite the mediocre condition of this golf course, I Would recommend purely from the design. The back 9 is pretty secluded and quiet, even with the close proximity to Downtown Dallas.
Rough Shape
The folks in the pro shop were very nice. The layout of the course is pretty good. Even the greens are ok. But the fairways are in bad shape...burned out. Hit some shots and had to make sure my irons weren't bent or dinged up.
I'll give the place another shot in the fall because I really like the people who work there.
Great Value!
Course was in decent shape, hardley anybody there to play, able to get 18 holes in under 4 hours, which is good when it is this hot out. Staff very accomodating and friendly!
Good place to play
Great value for this place to play golf. Great for beginners
Apparently No Groundskeeper
Fairways are in terrible condition. Cart paths are in desperate need of replacing. The grounds are not maintained as many areas are overgrown. Driving range is as if you are teeing off into a cattle pasture. If its easy to get a prime tee time at last notice, there is definitely a reason why. Will not return or recommend.
Super Fast pace of play
Great place to play for one person!! Quick to start and easy to check in.
Needs some work
This course wasnt in great shape. The fairways were average and the greens were in bad condition. I would only play it for a great deal.
Below avg. condiion
Course needs work,,,,,,,,good for practice or new golfers. Can't beat the price though, for a quick round.
We play doubles also. I have yet to visit a course that does not pair you up if it's a busy day. Even in Arkansas.
