Stonetree Golf Club
About
Jay Riviere built this course in the 1970s to offer a non-military alternative for golf in Killeen. The conditions have improved since the updated irrigation system was installed in the 1990s, and the greens are known for consistently being in solid condition. The course has been renovated in 2005 by Lee Singletary. You’ll face a good combination of tee shots at this course, with both narrow and wide fairways.
Start off with some patience, if you can survive the more difficult front nine, you’ll be confident and in good position for a low round when you face the easier back nine.
Getting there : From I-35 north, take Hwy. 190 west and exit FM 2410. Turn right and look for Roy Reynolds Dr. Turn right again and look for the course on the left side of the road.

Staff your course?
No starter. No marshal. There were so many singles and duos who were not paired up at all and as a result the entire course was backed up. Pace of play was about 25 minutes a hole. Saw the cart girl once in the early round and never again. It’s makes doing a complete 18 after noon impossible, which is quite frankly embarrassing.
Great course
Pro shop staff are very friendly. Which is always a plus. Warm up areas are great during the dormant season we are hitting off mats. Starter is always very nice and knowledgeable about the course conditions and always give the players a few rules to remember. The course of course is in great shape from the tee box to the green. Pace of play is on point expect to spend the 4 and half hours playing.
Best Course Nearby
Stonetree is always a fun course to play and the best among the four nearby courses. The staff is friendly and easy to work with.
What could be
Obviously no sandtrap maintenance for a long time. Just fill them in and plant grass if your going to do nothing to update them.
I imagine at one time this was an amazing venue. The Clubhouse must have been amazing shortly after it was built but it just feels like an old piece of history now. It just feels like this could be a fabulous course but nobody knows how to make it that way. The potential is there but not the heart I feel.
Great deal for price point
Over seeded tee boxes so had to hit on front of all of them which wasn’t ideal but not a complaint. Greens all in good shape, fairways a little thin but overall very playable course. Pace of play was outstanding, even after a two some was dropped in front of us at the turn. Will be back!
Smooth - Quick Greens
The course is in GREAT shape...especially given how little rain we get in Central Texas.
The greens are excellent - undulating, smooth and really quick.
The bunkers are unplayable. Not sure why they are not refurbishing them, but basically you just have to pull your ball out and chip/putt.
Great course for the price
Course is in good condition and great value for the money.
BEAUTIFUL LAYOUT
The day was awesome in the 80's when we started in the early afternoon. The staff was extremely friendly, professional and polite. The course layout was challenging; but was great to play that day. The pace of play was comfortable and no rush from those following us. We were a twosome and there was a foursome in front of us but they played pretty fast. The lady at the snack bar was totally awesome and she was jamming in the kitchen getting the orders out and running the register! Kudos to her as she was by herself and did an awesome job! She made the best grilled cheese with ham sandwich and I look forward to going back again. The gentleman running the carts was very friendly and professional and notice my cover of me serving in the Marine Corps. I look forward to going back to play as it had been over 5 yrs since I played there last. The greens were running fast and the approach shots don't hold the green from 180-200 out so it made it challenging but still lots of fun. The cart we had was fast and very clean. This course and its folks were very professional as I mentioned before and I hope they have an opportunity to read this review. The Marshal came around a few times and was also very professional. The pace of play never was an issue as I'm sure when it cools off a little more this course is going to be extremely busy. Started to get pretty hot at the end with the humidity kicking our tails. I haven't played in a bit because of the heat; but shot a great score of 80 this time.
Thank you for the awesome hospitality to all the folks out there and may I continue to be blessed to continue to enjoy this game for many more years!

Dry Fairways - Hardpan Bunkers - EXCELLENT GREENS
My step-brother and I play here 10-15 times per year. Great course. The greens are in excellent shape and the fairways are pretty good, but dry with a lot of sparse grass areas. Several bunkers are unplayable with hard pan and rocks. I think the weather has been hard on the course (very hot, no rain followed by too much rain).
We love this course even with these criticisms. The greens are absolutely outstanding and in great shape right now...and fairly quick. GREAT course. Later in the afternoon it can get very busy.
Too far a drive for what you get.
Pay supply was super slow, I understand it was a Sunday but waiting on every key box for 10 minutes is very slow. The course layout is very weird. It’s hard to tell what hole you’re even hitting at. It’s like there was a neighborhood and then they jammed the golf course into it, the course itself was not very difficult but for the drive from Austin it’s too far.
Good course, in good shape
Stonetree is a great course with a manageable setup. Greens in good shape as are fairways. Bunkers have no sand. Played as a single on Saturday and fished in 2 1/2 hours. Always enjoy Stonetree!
