Stonetree Golf Club
About
Jay Riviere built this course in the 1970s to offer a non-military alternative for golf in Killeen. The conditions have improved since the updated irrigation system was installed in the 1990s, and the greens are known for consistently being in solid condition. The course has been renovated in 2005 by Lee Singletary. You’ll face a good combination of tee shots at this course, with both narrow and wide fairways.
Start off with some patience, if you can survive the more difficult front nine, you’ll be confident and in good position for a low round when you face the easier back nine.
Getting there : From I-35 north, take Hwy. 190 west and exit FM 2410. Turn right and look for Roy Reynolds Dr. Turn right again and look for the course on the left side of the road.

Great Course Overall
Course has fantastic fairways and overall layout. Great driving range then the chipping & putting greens. Only downside is most greens on golf courses in this area of Texas are fast and always never taken care of too well.
Great time
From check till tee off the staff is great. It was a busy day so they paired me up. Practice facilities are great, something for every part of the game. It was mats only but that is expected during the dormat season. Bunkers are improving, still ground under repairs. Definitely worth the time and money to play.
Ran behind
Amazing course! Pace of play was slow. Tee times ran behind by 20 minutes and then took forever it felt like on each hole until we reached the back 9. Didn’t finish my round because I ran out of time to get home.
Staff your course?
No starter. No marshal. There were so many singles and duos who were not paired up at all and as a result the entire course was backed up. Pace of play was about 25 minutes a hole. Saw the cart girl once in the early round and never again. It’s makes doing a complete 18 after noon impossible, which is quite frankly embarrassing.
Great course
Pro shop staff are very friendly. Which is always a plus. Warm up areas are great during the dormant season we are hitting off mats. Starter is always very nice and knowledgeable about the course conditions and always give the players a few rules to remember. The course of course is in great shape from the tee box to the green. Pace of play is on point expect to spend the 4 and half hours playing.
Best Course Nearby
Stonetree is always a fun course to play and the best among the four nearby courses. The staff is friendly and easy to work with.
What could be
Obviously no sandtrap maintenance for a long time. Just fill them in and plant grass if your going to do nothing to update them.
I imagine at one time this was an amazing venue. The Clubhouse must have been amazing shortly after it was built but it just feels like an old piece of history now. It just feels like this could be a fabulous course but nobody knows how to make it that way. The potential is there but not the heart I feel.
Great deal for price point
Over seeded tee boxes so had to hit on front of all of them which wasn’t ideal but not a complaint. Greens all in good shape, fairways a little thin but overall very playable course. Pace of play was outstanding, even after a two some was dropped in front of us at the turn. Will be back!
Smooth - Quick Greens
The course is in GREAT shape...especially given how little rain we get in Central Texas.
The greens are excellent - undulating, smooth and really quick.
The bunkers are unplayable. Not sure why they are not refurbishing them, but basically you just have to pull your ball out and chip/putt.
