Stonetree Golf Club

This is one of our favorite courses in this area...and it is currently in great shape (except the bunkers with little fault of the grounds crew). We have had tons of rain in the last few months which makes bunkers AND the rough difficult to maintain.

My only complaint is pace of play. The course was busy and searching for your ball in the rough took time. The rough is thick and it is easy to lose a ball 5 feet off the fairway.

None of this can be blamed on the course.

The greens are in great shape. Go.Play.

Worth playing for the price and not fighting Austin's crowds. I am sure certain times of the year it is better conditions. Not a walkers course, only ride to far between some greens and tee boxes. Would play again.

Horrible pace of play… last 3 rounds have been over 5 hours!!

Good course overall. 95% of the bunkers are not playable as there is no sand in them(just mud and rocks). Greens in good shape and course conditions otherwise very good. On course bathrooms are not very clean and lights don’t work in some.

Had a lot of fun playing this course with my adult kids. Fairly short course and challenging. Bunker are in horrible conditions. Many of the ladies tee-boxes are not great. Due to recent rains, the fairways and greens are really nice.

1. Pace of play on the back 9 (fivesome in front of us...)

2. Bunkers - add sand, or just let them grow over with grass

3. There's no "clubhouse" - no food or tables to drink a beer after the round

Tee boxes, fairways and greens in excellent shape. Traps are terrible.

Visiting my Son in Killeen. Decided I’d like to get in a round of Texas golf. Found this municipal course so tried it out. Weather was windy, but no rain … found an excellent deal on Golfnow. I was told if no one was on the 1st tee to go ahead and start. I ended up catching up to a twosome by the third hole and had a twosome behind me, but was never forced to play faster. I saw a couple of fivesomes out there but they didn’t impact me. Fairways are okay, greens are slower than what I’m used too. Course layout is fine but a little challenging since this was my first time here. There are some signs of aging (the brick retaining wall between the lake and green side rough on #15 has come apart). Would I recommend this course … sure at $27. Maybe at $40-50, but probably not more than that.

You get what you get. If pace of play wasn’t so bad I really would recommend to more people. It’s not just the pace of play being poor, but no one lets you play through. For the price you can play better courses closer to Austin, but probably more crowded. Which again is baffling at Stonetree, not crowded yet the back nine is always a traffic jam.

This is av very nice course. Should been told the condition of the bunkers, they were practically unplayable. Once they fix the bunkers, this will be an excellent course.
