Lighthouse Country Club

About
Located in the town of Kingsland on the shores of Lake LBJ, Lighthouse Country Club features 18 holes set in a charming, hill country in the heart of the Highland Lakes. The course was originally built in 1968, winds through scenic Hill Country property full of oak trees and red granite rock outcroppings. From many points, Packsaddle Mountain, one of the Hill Country's highest points, is in view from many spots on the course.
Lighthouse was formerly named Packsaddle Golf Club until the name changed in the fall of 2011 when new owners Rick & Mercy Howe purchased the bankrupt property and revitalized the golf course. Part of the enhancement was the construction of a brand new lighthouse at the clubhouse. In addition on on-course enhancements, Lighthouse constructed a handful of two-bedroom condos for stay-and-play packages and longer term winter homes.
In addition to the golf course, the facility also features a driving range, short game area and a full restaurant, bar and banquet facility.

i phoned to ask condition of greens and told they were good. i thought some of them were very poor especially around the edges of the greens. they were quite fast. i would not play again until greens are sorted out. delaware springs is nicer.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We apologize for the conditions of the greens that you experienced. We appreciate your feedback and will take it into consideration to improve our course.
A nice secret location and course
Course was in good condition save for a couple greens, however seems like the staff is working on many improvements.

Great Value, Excellent Layout
I love this course. Personally, I think it has the best layout in the whole Austin area, and the pro shop and starter are the nicest people you'll meet at a course. It's an excellent value for the price. Small range, but has alot of chipping areas. Although there are 6 temporary greens, the course is still very playable. For a hot, Texas summer, the conditions are still pretty darn good. I can't wait to play it again when those greens do heal.

summer in central texas
4 or 5 temporary greens. Several greens had missing grass. All the boxes and most fairways where good. But all courses are hurting on the greens right now. Of the greens that are not temp they were excellent.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced due to the temporary greens and missing grass on some of our greens. We appreciate your understanding, and we are glad to hear that you found our fairways and non-temporary greens to be excellent.
Fairways
Great course to play with several ponds, great pack saddle views and great fairways. Grenns are being worked on to get inline with the rest of the course.

Need to let people know if there are temporary greens
I like Lighthouse CC. I enjoy the course layout a lot and have a lot of fun playing there. The holes are interesting and while the conditions could be better, for the price, it's usually worth the drive.
Usually.
I was very disappointed when, after an hour and a half drive to the course, I discovered they had six greens closed due to weather damage from December.
I'm the first to admit I'm no turf grass specialist or course superintendent, but it's hard to believe you can't get grass to grow in Texas nearly 8 months after it died.
Setting that aside, why wouldn't you put that in your course description on GolfNow? Or put some sort of alert in the reservation system to let people know? (Yes, I have mentioned this to GolfNow, so I'm not only blaming the course.)
It was exceedingly frustrating to drive all the way out there only to discover a third of the greens were closed.
Beyond all that, the pace of play yesterday was atrocious. Where were the course marshals? My son and I walked the front nine and still had to wait on every tee shot and every approach for a two-some in a cart in front of us.
Honestly, I'm not entirely sure I'll be back since I'm moving even further away and driving two hours to discover I'm not playing the course as intended would be intolerable. It's a shame, though, because I genuinely do like the course.

Great course!
Loved how laid back this course was, all the employees have great hospitality skills. Best bang for your buck, thanks lighthouse will definitely be back!

Nice layout but greens need a lot of work
Admittedly they advertise they have a few temporary greens (about 4 or 5), but the non temporary greens are in poor shape.
Staff were great. There Was a mix up where golf now should not have allowed me to book as the course was closed to host a private tournament, but because we had driven 3 1/2 hours and had pre payed they let us play anyway. Despite the tournament, it was only a 4 hour round.

Hello,
We appreciate you taking the time to leave us a review. We would love to know how we can earn those last two stars next time! Thanks for playing Lighthouse Country Club.
Coming along nicely
Course is really shaping up. A lot of greens repair is underway and I love that the owner is taking care to provide golfers with a good putting surface. Looking forward to the next several weeks when the course should be in great shape.

Greens
Greens succumbed to the winter freeze. Probably each green is 80% very playable. Bad spots are being repaired. Lighthouse is still my favorite of the 14 courses we play in Central Texas.

Hello, u000002309293. Thank you for visiting us at Lighthouse Country Club. We appreciate your 4-star rating and review. We hope you join us for another round soon.
Poor greens
Seems that all the greens caught a fungus… some holes have the green in the middle of the fairway.

Previous weather related problems
This course is normally better, but a hard freeze damaged some of the greens. They had 6 temporary greens and even the regular greens were not has they had been in the past. Normally this course has very fast greens, good greens but fast. Now because of the freeze they were slow and spotty.

We will share your feedback with our staff to make corrections and improvements. Any feedback is greatly appreciated so that we can improve your future experiences at our course. Temporary green’s aren’t bad
Many greens sanded and not in use. This normally fast greens this year are being reworked.

Hi! Thank you so much for leaving us with your feedback. We value our customer experience, so your review is important to us. Please know the current conditions are by no means the standard we strive to achieve. We will continue to work towards a 5-star experience and we hope to see you back!
Very Poor Conditions
This course is in very poor shape. They have made temporary greens on 6 of the holes which has turned par 5's into short par 4's and made the par 3's about 100 yards each. The temporary greens are simply short cut areas in the fairway and are very rough as you can expect. The other 12 greens still in use are also in poor shape and have large bare spots with nothing but sandy dirt in them. I wonder if they will have to replace those greens in the future also? This course has the potential to be a nice course but the people responsible for taking care of it have lost all 18 greens including the practice greens.

Thank you for reviewing the course. Let us first start by apologizing for the poor experience you had during your visit. The current condition is by no means the standard we strive to achieve and are working diligently to improve the course. Thank you for playing and we hope to see you again soon.
In terrible shspe
6 greens are temporarily in fairway- we should have been told prior to reservation
