About
Wellshire Golf Course is an 18-hole, public course that was voted as one of the best public facilities in the U.S. Designed by Donald Ross, the course opened in 1926 and is located in southwest Denver. Towering trees are scattered throughout the course, adding pretty scenery as well as an interesting element to the game. The course has a yardage of 6,498 from its longest tees, playing to a par of 71. The risk-and-reward style layout of the course provides a fun golfing experience for all levels. Wellshire Golf Course features particularly challenging 12th and 14th holes. The greens and fairways are Blue Grass.

still fun
coarse is in good shape, been playing for 40 + years. still digging it!
Great course but super slow play
The course was in great shape and it was a beautiful 84 degree day except it took almost 6 hours to play.
Wish I could play here every day!
Cancellation credit used... This was the rate in ±1982 for a junior golfer :)!
I'm grateful for having played this course at least 1,000 times... maybe more since 1976!
The rough is in PGA Championship form, the greens are still a little spotty but nice for this early in the season. The accent work being done around the tee boxes is coming together nicely.
This DONALD ROSS designed golf course has a little bit of everything for all players and is a MUST PLAY for everyone.
Conditions getting better
I love this course and was disappointed to see how it suffered from this last winter when I played it a couple of weeks ago. It is recovering nicely and, except for some parts of some fairways, it's playing well. Greens were in good shape, including number 11 where a large part was resodded recently. Weather was perfect and the round was definitely enjoyable. I'll be back soon.
Donald Ross for a Great Price
Like most courses in the area, Wellshire has some conditions issues. It was a rough winter, and the grass is not growing great around the city. Recent rain should help improve conditions in the next week or so.
I like the layout at Wellshire, it's a true classic with some demanding tee shots and small greens. Lots of trees to punish wayward tee balls. Hole 7 is just a spectacular golf hole.
Pace of play was good on a Saturday and the staff is always friendly. Course is a good value, and easy to walk. I am looking forward to returning soon!
Shine or rain...
Previous week, I got to play in the shine but yesterday it was 43º and raining and I had a blast!
It's Wellshire... classic Colorado golf!
Cold weather golf is definitely different if you want to score and control your round and thankfully, I've learned the tricks and tips that have always served me well.
Shooting (76) in these conditions felt like 69 :)

Established... 1926... Donald Ross design... as perfect a golf course layout as it gets!
Must play golf course for all skill levels... yes, we need some rain here so all golf courses are a little rough around the edges but it's early in the season so be patient... golf... patience... kind of go together, right?
The greens here are in terrific shape already because this course cares, period!
Tough to see all the damage the cotton wood trees have suffered but this property stands the test of time and it's always great to play here.

Tight
Not super long but relatively tight. You need to hit it straight. Greens have a good deal of contour and speed. Sneaky difficult putting

Classic public tree lined municipal Denver course that has been enjoyed for many years by the people of Denver! Great value for the money!

Great Course Experience - Just Aerated
Overall a great course, would have liked to know prior to booking that they had just aerated but everything else in terms of layout, fairway conditions etc. were great. Post match crew at the clubhouse was a good time and the food was solid.
