About
While it hasn't received as much publicity as the other Hill Country tracks since it opened around 1990, Crystal Falls Golf Club is definitely worthy of praise. Highlighted by one of the greatest par 3s in Texas and some outstanding topography, this is one of those courses you'll want to play at least once, if only for the views. In addition to the scenery, the main thing everyone talks about here is the severely sloping fairways that provide problems for those who hit the ball left-to-right. The famous par 3 in question is the 192-yard 11th, featuring a phenomenal view and a 200-yard drop to the green. Club selection is a crap-shoot at best, and the green is surrounded by mounds.

Golfer Reviews
Recommended course!
My golf partner and I took the long drive from South Austin and made it in good time, with some left over to warm up at the range. The range is small compared to other golf courses. However it was a good layout to get some quick practice in before heading out. When we arrived to the first hole, there was an employee there waiting to check us in. They were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable of the course which is useful. Out on the course, absolutely stunning. The views from the elevated tees are great. The course overall is a challenge but so much fun. Excited to return back soon to play again!
Just about my favorite course in the county.
Teed off at 9:00 on Wednesday and played a 4.5 hour round. It was busy, but kept moving. Course was mostly in good shape other than a few rough spots on the greens. The pin setter may have been going thru something because there were half a dozen pins placed within six feet of the edge of their greens. They’re prepping for a “Superintendents Revenge” tournament so maybe they’re practicing? 🤷🏻♂️. The restaurant is shut down for whatever reason and doesn’t look to be opening anytime soon so byo food and drink. There was a food truck at the turn, but it didn’t get set up til about 12:00 so we missed it. Also the range was closed at tee-off time, but that may have been temporary. Still a good value for the money.
Restaurant and bar closed
Course was in great shape, best I've seen it, and this course is always a favorite of mine. Be warned though that the restaurant and bar are closed and they are running as BYOB right now. They have some soft drinks in the pro shop but best be prepared with your own snacks and drinks.
Good course, but...
It had been a minute since playing Crystal Falls, but was able to get a good tee time that worked with my other weekend plans. Course was in good shape, except that the tee on #2 was being worked on, so we had to hit off a mat. The bar/grill is closed, so THERE IS NO ALCOHOL AT THE COURSE. Overall, a good value for the money and a good course to play, just come prepared 😉
Marshall needs to enforce pace of play. If it means telling an entire group to pick up there ball then so be it. There is no excuse to be 40 mins behind pace at 9 holes and see 2 groups waiting on 10 tee. We quit at 10 after 3 hours. 💯 on starter and marshall. Other than that good course
Crystal Falls
Enjoyed this course. However, with no snack shop and the awful pace of play yesterday, it may be a while before I go back.
First time playing
Google maps doesn’t give you an accurate understanding of the terrain. This course has a lot of slopes and side hill lies to contend with. There’s enough water on it to present an issue if you’re not striking the ball well during your visit. Green speeds weren’t as fast as some of the other Texas courses I’ve recently played. Pace of play was slow (nearly a 5 hour round) and expect that’s because the course is no slouch. I did just miss out on Eagling the 479yd par 5 - 12th hole by 3 inches.
Hopefully I’ll get the chance to play here again with me now having a better understanding of the course. Just hope the pace of play will be better.
Zero Amenities
Course itself was pretty good, but the services were bare bones. There was no alcohol available, and no food or beverage other than a minimal selection in the pro shop. The range was OK but was mats only.
Nice layout and great views from some elevated teeboxes. They've had watering restrictions but the course was in decent shape and the greens rolled nice. They need to get their liquor license back to see me again though!
Track has potential
Nice layout. 2 awesome par 3s. Greens are fairly fast but grass has not come in yet. The snack bar is shutdown which is huge if you want anything while there, looks like they are remodeling. Seems like the could get a cooler assuming they have the liquor license. It's a pretty tight course especially on the back. Challenging!!
Chrystal Falls Golf Course 3/18/24
To our groups surprise Chrystal falls was aerating the fairways so it was cart path only on all 18 holes. Also, the course no longer has any food or beverages in the clubhouse. This information would have been good to know in advance because two of us had nothing to eat or drink before arrival. We soon realized $42.00 for the round was not such a great weekday deal after all. We hope the City will continue to improve the conditions since the course layout is superb.
Hi Joe,
Apologies for the poor experience yesterday. We thought we'd sent out notifications, but it looks like we dropped the ball. We'll do our best to correct this in the future.
All the best,

Decent course with a major flaw.
Played March 2024. Arrived for tee time to find out that the course bar/grill shut down and no cart girl was available. So no coolers available and outside coolers not allowed. Also, no food available on the turn. This was not noted anywhere before booking. Course is good, just the amenities are lacking.
Great layout but tough
This course is an amazing, layout lots of elevation and beautiful, has no bunkers on the whole course, but the clubhouse needs to get their restaurant in order, because they did not even serve any alcohol whatsoever, and the staff were not the happiest to be around….
Thank you for your feedback and for highlighting the challenges of our course's terrain and conditions. We are looking into ways to improve the pace of play and hope to offer a faster round next time you visit.
