Crystal Falls Golf Course
About
While it hasn't received as much publicity as the other Hill Country tracks since it opened around 1990, Crystal Falls Golf Club is definitely worthy of praise. Highlighted by one of the greatest par 3s in Texas and some outstanding topography, this is one of those courses you'll want to play at least once, if only for the views. In addition to the scenery, the main thing everyone talks about here is the severely sloping fairways that provide problems for those who hit the ball left-to-right. The famous par 3 in question is the 192-yard 11th, featuring a phenomenal view and a 200-yard drop to the green. Club selection is a crap-shoot at best, and the green is surrounded by mounds.

11th Hole at Crystal Falls Golf Course, Leander TX Photo submitted by wshowers on 12/02/2012
Course was great!
Course was great, play moved quickly and we finished in 3.5 hours, well ahead of schedule. The greens were very good, the fairways are fine, and the staff is EXCELLENT. Well done.
Best course for the money
Best course with perfect greens every time for well under in price of what it really should be worth. Hole 2 and 11 are the funnest par 3’s you can play in the Austin area. Worth every penny every time.
Crystal Falls was Great
Crystal Falls was in OK shape for the weather conditions we have been having lately. The greens were very good considering recent arification. With consistant 100 degree days and no rain the fairways were were as good as I have seen at central Texas courses in the past month. Great bar tender and stocked bar for after round libations. Will play again.
Greens punched last monday
Punched greens so you get a solid discount. Course was in good shape considering the heat. Always a fun time
Great course and friendly staff.
Course was in good condition considering recent hot weather. Staff was friendly and helpful. Pace on play was what you would normally expect on a Sunday afternoon. Overall great place to play can be challenging if you struggle off the tee.
Great course
I golf here frequently. Best bang for the buck. Some greens were a little spotty but they’re upfront with you about that. They were flawless a few weeks ago, the heat is taking a toll on everything around.
Golf
The pace of play in was the slowest it has been in my several times playing the course. Several of the tee boxes are not in good condition. Beverage cart never came around. Majority of the water jugs on the course were empty.
Thanks for the review Chris! We apologize if your experiences wasn't up to par. We'll get to work on addressing the issues that you brought up. Thanks again!!

Crystal Falls…I absolutely love this course. As a Leander resident I’ve been playing this course consistently for 2 years now. I love the layout of this course…thought it was a Norman design but I can’t find any literature on that. Fairways are looking great at the moment, a few weeds here and there but nothing that inhibits play. Some tee boxes could use some improvement and the greens are looking worse since I played a couple of weeks ago. It’s been very hot lately so no surprise there. The pro shop always has a great selection of apparel and balls/clubs/gloves and the employees are always helpful. I got there for my late afternoon tee time, checked in, and grabbed my cart. Teeing off late in the day I was playing fast, with it only being myself and my fiancée riding in the cart I was through 9 in an hour and 10 min as I had passed about 3 groups in front of me. Light still shining I continued on to 10 and averaged the same pace of play throughout the back. I approached a group expecting the same reaction of all the other groups behind me that let me quickly play through them and be on my way. Imagine my surprise to see the same person that checked me out in the pro shop to be in the group in front of me playing. Instead of letting me through quietly he haggled me about how he had only charged me for 9 holes. I have no problem playing for 18 holes which I what I thought I had paid for because nothing was communicated to me that I was only being charged for 9 holes nor did I take my receipt. He also gave me a hard time about my fiancée riding along with me, which I understand may be the policy but I’m playing a late afternoon round on an almost empty golf course on a Tuesday….just seems like a petty battle to pick. All in all, I love this course and this situation wouldn’t deter me from playing here again just wanted to share the experience I had this go around.
Hey Sam,
Thanks for the review and information. I think there may have been some confusion on our end but we've discussed it and it should be an issue moving forward. We look forward to seeing you again soon.

Good course. Will test your skills as a golfer
Played here for years. Still trying to break 80 on this course.
Good challenge.
Twilight 9
The counter staff was very friendly and polite. I was running a little late but they were very accommodating when I arrived. I was given the option for front or back back 9 to play. The course was well maintained.
Great course but few issues with greens
It’s a great tough course. I really liked the layout and how challenging it was for me. I would definitely play here again. To be honest, there are some issues with the greens but I’m sure they are working on them to get it right.
Course needs some TLC
The layout of the course is great with some unique features. Unfortunately that was over shadowed by the horrible condition of the greens. The putting green was also closed, so you get no chance to practice on the horrible greens. I get it, it’s Texas, between the freezing and the heat our greens take a beating. But closing the putting green because it’s in the same shape as the rest of the greens on the course makes no sense. And if you prefer to walk, they don’t allow it before 1pm Fri-Sun and holidays.
Sanded greens?
Greens were almost all super slow, recently sanded, would've been nice to know before playing/signing up.
Thank you for your comments!! We look forward to seeing you again soon!!
