About
While it hasn't received as much publicity as the other Hill Country tracks since it opened around 1990, Crystal Falls Golf Club is definitely worthy of praise. Highlighted by one of the greatest par 3s in Texas and some outstanding topography, this is one of those courses you'll want to play at least once, if only for the views. In addition to the scenery, the main thing everyone talks about here is the severely sloping fairways that provide problems for those who hit the ball left-to-right. The famous par 3 in question is the 192-yard 11th, featuring a phenomenal view and a 200-yard drop to the green. Club selection is a crap-shoot at best, and the green is surrounded by mounds.

Staff Were Great, Pace of Play Was Dreadful
As the title says, the staff were engaging and helpful. The Starter was the BEST fellow I have run into in quite some time, trying to find a way to get me, a single, out as early as possible. Although I stuck with my original tee time and joined the 2some also signed up for that time, he tried everything he could to see if fit with an earlier time. Pro Shop staff was friendly and engaging as well. The course is relatively short, with quite a few blind shots (at least on the front 9 --- more on that later). I was initially encouraged by the reminder on the cart's screen about making sure one moved along and kept up the pace of play. Unfortunately, the pace was upwards of 5.5 hours. I called the pro shop to inquire about a ranger, and subsequently one came out to tell our group that the whole course was backed up. Sigh. So I simply gave up after 9 holes, and won't be returning. Slow play is a cancer for the game, and anywhere that simply gives in to it as Crystal Springs did that day simply doesn't deserve my business.
Slow play
Tee time was 4:21 and was told to go off early. When else pulled up to the tee box there were two groups waiting!!! Why say go early when they are that far behind!? Carts due back at 7:45pm! Easily 45 minutes before sundown. Tee boxes were not in the best shape either. Greens were ok. Overall, if the pace was standard I wouldn’t mind so much, but man was it slow.

Nothings changed
Too many good shoots end up bad. Too may rocks just of fairway. Haven’t played it 15 years. And I’ll never play again. No ice chests on carts and the gps is TERRIBLE

Great Course for the price
Greens A+, Fairways A+, hazards A+. Carts are nice, views are great. Wouldn't pay 75, but 45-50 was a steal. Will return.

Tee time
The golf course had what they called a noon game going on where they had at least 4 groups of 4 all scheduled to tee off at noon which we would have been behind all of them. Really poorly mismanaged scheduling. We didn’t play. Went to a different course

Slow play on hot day is killer
Backup was terrible. At we few holes we had three f on the tee box. Pace of play was a little over 5 hrs. Corse was in good shape thou.

Too slow of pace
No supervision of the pace of play. 10 deep at hole one when we showed up for our tee time

Best course for the money
While everyone else is charging$80-$100 on the weekend, Crystal Falls is only $60. Great course, even greater value!

I can say I played it.
Couple of fun par 3s, but many unfair holes. You hit a quality shot to only end way right due to severe slope of fairways. Greens were true.

Improving
I live just a few miles from this course and haven't played in a few years because of green conditions. Read some positive reviews so decided to give it another shot. All in all, course was in pretty good shape. A little dry in a few spots, but that's to be expected in Texas when with current water restrictions. Management has done a nice job of turning it around.

Good Course
Course was awesome. Pace of play was slow could of been just the three some infront of us. I’m pretty sure they all hit a second ball on every hole.
