While it hasn't received as much publicity as the other Hill Country tracks since it opened around 1990, Crystal Falls Golf Club is definitely worthy of praise. Highlighted by one of the greatest par 3s in Texas and some outstanding topography, this is one of those courses you'll want to play at least once, if only for the views. In addition to the scenery, the main thing everyone talks about here is the severely sloping fairways that provide problems for those who hit the ball left-to-right. The famous par 3 in question is the 192-yard 11th, featuring a phenomenal view and a 200-yard drop to the green. Club selection is a crap-shoot at best, and the green is surrounded by mounds.

Difficult Slopes, Bad Pace
Only been back into golf for a month now and shoot around a 100 on average. If you’re not experienced this course is not for you. Sloped fairways send your ball to the rough a lot of times regardless of your tee shot, a lot of difficult holes here and the pace of play is usually going to be awful because of rich 80 year old heffers who take 8 practice swings and play in fivesomes. Other than that, the course is beautiful and is taken care of pretty well. The only thing wrong with the layout and conditions is the fact that the carts don’t have sand to fill your divots.

Fun layout. Not bad conditions.
For the price, can’t beat it. Some really fun holes and definitely a lot of birdies out there. One of my favorite courses in Austin.

Staff Were Great, Pace of Play Was Dreadful
As the title says, the staff were engaging and helpful. The Starter was the BEST fellow I have run into in quite some time, trying to find a way to get me, a single, out as early as possible. Although I stuck with my original tee time and joined the 2some also signed up for that time, he tried everything he could to see if fit with an earlier time. Pro Shop staff was friendly and engaging as well. The course is relatively short, with quite a few blind shots (at least on the front 9 --- more on that later). I was initially encouraged by the reminder on the cart's screen about making sure one moved along and kept up the pace of play. Unfortunately, the pace was upwards of 5.5 hours. I called the pro shop to inquire about a ranger, and subsequently one came out to tell our group that the whole course was backed up. Sigh. So I simply gave up after 9 holes, and won't be returning. Slow play is a cancer for the game, and anywhere that simply gives in to it as Crystal Springs did that day simply doesn't deserve my business.

Slow play
Tee time was 4:21 and was told to go off early. When else pulled up to the tee box there were two groups waiting!!! Why say go early when they are that far behind!? Carts due back at 7:45pm! Easily 45 minutes before sundown. Tee boxes were not in the best shape either. Greens were ok. Overall, if the pace was standard I wouldn’t mind so much, but man was it slow.

Nothings changed
Too many good shoots end up bad. Too may rocks just of fairway. Haven’t played it 15 years. And I’ll never play again. No ice chests on carts and the gps is TERRIBLE

Great Course for the price
Greens A+, Fairways A+, hazards A+. Carts are nice, views are great. Wouldn't pay 75, but 45-50 was a steal. Will return.

Tee time
The golf course had what they called a noon game going on where they had at least 4 groups of 4 all scheduled to tee off at noon which we would have been behind all of them. Really poorly mismanaged scheduling. We didn’t play. Went to a different course

Slow play on hot day is killer
Backup was terrible. At we few holes we had three f on the tee box. Pace of play was a little over 5 hrs. Corse was in good shape thou.
