Crystal Falls Golf Course
About
While it hasn't received as much publicity as the other Hill Country tracks since it opened around 1990, Crystal Falls Golf Club is definitely worthy of praise. Highlighted by one of the greatest par 3s in Texas and some outstanding topography, this is one of those courses you'll want to play at least once, if only for the views. In addition to the scenery, the main thing everyone talks about here is the severely sloping fairways that provide problems for those who hit the ball left-to-right. The famous par 3 in question is the 192-yard 11th, featuring a phenomenal view and a 200-yard drop to the green. Club selection is a crap-shoot at best, and the green is surrounded by mounds.

11th Hole at Crystal Falls Golf Course, Leander TX Photo submitted by wshowers on 12/02/2012
Bad greens
The greens were in terrible shape and some greens were almost unplayable. I enjoy playing this course as it's close to home. I hope the course get the greens back in shape soon.
City of Leander
The City Of Leander has absolutely no idea, or does not care about this place. The greens are SHOT! LOST.! People that actually know, have been telling the City for years they had to do something. Now it's too late. Who do u blame? City Manager? Incompetent safety man that shut down the maintenance department for 3 weeks? Duct tape cannot even fix that. GM that's all about the almighty $$$. 230 rounds a day x 50$ = $11,500/day x 364 = 4,186m a year. Driving range $30k a month. U would think with that income, constant improvement would be made. NOT. if the city continues with this approach, may as well fence it off and make it a walking park or goat ranch. It's quickly headed that way It's unfortunate.

Greens not looking good
Love the course and haven't played here in a few months. Greens are in pretty rough shape.
Bad greens
Putting surface was very bad. I played there in early May and really liked the course. Much different this time with the Bad greens.
First timer
Challenging layout in relatively good shape (greens recently sanded). As a first timer, I recommend you play with someone who knows the course as it is more of a placement course than just grip it and rip it. Very interesting terrain and lots of hills including the par 3 over the cliff hole #11. I will return for another shot at the course now that I better understand the layout of some of the holes. Good value for the money.
Poor conditions
Greens pretty horrible. No Marshall to police pace of play.
Rude staff
Paid for 18 holes. There was 4 of us. Played 1st Nine holes and all was good. Because of rain the day before the back 9 was closed. We were asked to re-check in after 9. We did that to play the front 9 again. I asked for a rain check for the back 9 because they looked very backed up for the front 9. The lady at the counter said she could not do that. So I said we would go ahead and play the front 9 again. She stated they were too busy and could not get us in line to play the front 9 a 2nd time. I paid for 18 holes through Golf now however was only allowed to play 9. Would like a refund for the 9 holes we did not play.
Rude front desk lady/paid for 18 and was going to be charged 15 more
First of all. I paid for 18 holes. And was told we can play the front 9 and just check in again. (Was an older lady who said that). We go back in to check in after the front 9 and was told it was 15 dollars more. This is absolutely the definition of not how to run a business. Until this gets rectified, I will not spend my money here. Its ashame because I like this course. Will have to find another course who is willing to honor simple business!!!
Nice course
Course was in good shape. Greens were a bit sandy but overall rolled true and were in good shape. Pace of play for a Wednesday morning was slow but bearable. Staff very friendly food in the little bar pub was good. Overall can’t beat this course for the scenery and value would play again for sure
Always a gem!
I'm local to this course and can never complain. After recent rains, this course is in the best shape it's ever been for this time of year.
The price is a bang for your buck, I play early morning Friday and there was no one in sight at 7:30 am.
Crystal is always a fun course to play and the fairways, tee boxes and greens are immaculate right now. Greens are slow as conditions are really good, so hit em harder!
Great course, fun layout, lots of slopes, water hazards and elevation changes. Course is a really good value for the money. Starter was super friendly. Pace of play was horrendous but there was a really slow group in front of the one in front of us so hopefully that was just an aberration. Would love to give the course another shot.
Best public course around
Course was in fantastic condition. Greens were great. Course was wide open and the staff was top notch. There’s no better public course within 30 minutes that comes close to Crystal Falls.
Great Course
Fun challenging course, great layout. You definitely have to hit the ball straight off the tee.
Amazing course!!
10/10 would recommend to a friend. if you're looking to play hill country golf, this is your place. fairways in good shape, greens in good shape, best bang for your buck i think in the austin area. a bit of a drive to get out there from downtown but SO worth it!
