About
After 50 years, the old 9-hole McKinney Municipal Golf Course shut down to make room for the new 18-hole championship layout now known as Oak Hollow. This new layout, designed by Maury Miller, opened in 1998, featuring rolling terrain that routes around six manmade lakes.
Miller’s design is particularly friendly from the middle tees, playing a fair 6,277 yards with several short par 3s and many average-length par 5s. The number one handicap is No. 15, a 423-yard par 4.
Getting there : Take Hwy. 75 north to Hwy. 380, then head east to Hwy. 5 (McDonald St.). The road veers and leads you 1 mile to the course.

Very disappointed in how this course has gone downhill. At one time this was a fun course to play, and very well maintained, and great value. Now the tee boxes are hard, uneven, and grassless. The rough is wildly overgrown to the point that a ball in the fairway that rolls 3 inches into the rough is lost. The greens, at least, roll true, but I can’t imagine that I will ever play this course again.

Bad experience
Upon arriving for a 3:20 tee time, we saw a group of 12 people at #1. The starter told us “they are regulars and played a tournament this morning, but they are only playing nine. It will be a while before you tee off though.”
We teed off at 3:48. Course was in very rough condition. Grass was overgrown in many areas, flooding conditions existed on many holes, and the greens were the slowest I have ever played. We saw the cart girl at the number 1 tee box serving the regulars, but never saw her the rest of the day.

Don’t waste your money
Marshall’s have priorities confused. They need to spent more time enforcing pace of play and groups jumping in on the back nine. Takes 6 1/2 hours to play 18. One starter and three Marshals? Tried discuss the slow play and starter and Marshal’s were rude. Too many other good courses out there to go back to this poor course. Not worth it.
