About
After 50 years, the old 9-hole McKinney Municipal Golf Course shut down to make room for the new 18-hole championship layout now known as Oak Hollow. This new layout, designed by Maury Miller, opened in 1998, featuring rolling terrain that routes around six manmade lakes.
Miller’s design is particularly friendly from the middle tees, playing a fair 6,277 yards with several short par 3s and many average-length par 5s. The number one handicap is No. 15, a 423-yard par 4.
Getting there : Take Hwy. 75 north to Hwy. 380, then head east to Hwy. 5 (McDonald St.). The road veers and leads you 1 mile to the course.

Decent Course but needs work.
I don't golf too much but I was with a group that does golf fairly often (2/3's a week). The greens were mostly in rough shape and there were tarps still beside nearly every green (Lost a ball in one actually). One of the course employees yelled at use for driving on the fairway on the first hole but he didn't mention this when were driving by him when we asked if we could go ahead and start. Good course for the price but could be great if the greens were a bit better and the course was cleaned up.

Rough rolls better than the greens
I’ve played this course numerous times and the greens have yet to be any sort of condition that is worth the price that is being charged to play a public course. And please don’t use the excuse of winter conditions, these conditions were the same last fall and summer. The greens are basically painted to cover dead areas and there are channels that run throughout the greens that cause the ball to bounce offline right after you hit it towards the hole. This is the main reason I haven’t played here since last fall because why get punished on the green when you get there in regulation and the putt can’t even get to the hole.

You’ve been warned.
First time golfing here and I golf a bit around the DFW. It seemed like a pretty good course despite the pictures shown but I was wrong. I golf a full 18, but was over the course by the time I even made it through 12 holes. I forgot which hole it was but the green was TERRIBLE. It had deep holes cut into it like from previous flag positions and the greens in general were not great at all. The tee boxes were rough also. It’s just a rough course and needs to be out to work. For the $47 I paid to play at this course I say it should be $30. This course needs major work, i mean major. Would I golf here again? Absolutely not.

Wish I hadn’t picked a day after a monsoon rain storm. Course was extremely muddy. I would love to see it in normal conditions and when the grass is green. Perhaps another time.

Nice Course, Walkable
Reminds me of a lot of the county courses I played growing up in Wisconsin. Easily walkable, not a lot of obstacles so a nice course for a high handicapper like me. Greens in good shape, tee boxes need work, fairways fine. Worked well for us because few golfers due to the cold which made it easy for my daughter who is just taking up the game, no pressure from anyone behind us because of our play. Still, we completed the round in 4 hours and 15 minutes. Have heard it can get crowded on nice days, but for us it worked out well.
