Oak Hollow Golf Course
About
After 50 years, the old 9-hole McKinney Municipal Golf Course shut down to make room for the new 18-hole championship layout now known as Oak Hollow. This new layout, designed by Maury Miller, opened in 1998, featuring rolling terrain that routes around six manmade lakes.
Miller’s design is particularly friendly from the middle tees, playing a fair 6,277 yards with several short par 3s and many average-length par 5s. The number one handicap is No. 15, a 423-yard par 4.
Getting there : Take Hwy. 75 north to Hwy. 380, then head east to Hwy. 5 (McDonald St.). The road veers and leads you 1 mile to the course.

Fun from louisiana
Great course for value. Fairways and greens were in great shape for this time of year. I will definately play again on my next visit to area.
Course was in good shape for this time of year
The course was in good condition, the pace of play was a little slow, it was a busy Sunday afternoon, we had to wait a few minutes for a cart, but we were hitting balls on the range anyway. The greens were in good shape, I will be playing this course again .
Oak Hollow
Grass has yet to start growing and was quit windy. Hole 13 is still quite unfair. Overall good course to play and green were in good shape.
Great Course For Beginners
This course is great for players just learning the golf but also has enough difficulty from the back tees to challenge more experienced players.
The course isn't in the best of shape so I never play here for anything over $25. I rarely find good deals to play here on the weekend but there are great rates if you can play during the week.
Pace of play was good, but...
I had read other reviews about the pace of play and carts breaking down, but we only had issues with one of the two. As we headed to the 4th tee our golf cart went out! The cart girl's cart seemed to go out at the same time as well!
How can you run a golf course and have faulty carts? Get the issue fixed!! We were a group of four and played behind two other groups of four and we didn't have any real issues with the pace.
One for Locals
Dormant but in good shape with super fast greens. 3-4 good holes and walkable routing. Nobody to play with at 11am. Played behind twosome in a cart and waited every hole.
Fun Place To Play
The course itself wasn't bad. The weather was poor and around the greens seemed to be a bit rougher than normal. Could of used a little more care.
Good for the price
Only complain would be pace of play, and it's hard to find a fully charged cart.
enough enjoy for beginner
good enough for beginner, but need more bunkers fro me!
not much rush and wide fairway were really good for me.
Especially Two holes are still challenging.
Fun course to play
This course kept their greens in relatively good shape. The pace of play was pretty slow and one reason was multiple people having trouble with the carts dying. Fun course to play though.
Good Greens
Very nice greens, overall great course for the price in DFW
Nice course with a few challenges
Played Oak Hollow Thanksgiving weekend, coming from Houston, it was strange to see dormant grass on courses. The greens were very good & held approach shots well. Fairways were decent. Not too difficult a course but No. 8, the #1 handicap hole will get your attention! Also the short uphill dogleg right par 4 on back nine will eat you alive if not careful...I look forward to playing again when back in McKinney.
Windy day
We had a good round of golf. Our only complaints were the wind (blame Mother Nature), and the cart ran out of juice on 17. Got another cart to finish the round, but it's battery wasn't much better. They are aware of the problem. And to be fair we have played the course several times and this is the first time we have had a cart problem. Some really cold weather took it toll on cart batteries.
Other than that it was a greet day. The course was in good condition. Green were excellent, maybe a little faster than usual. And I played better than usual. You always like a course when you play better.
Great course !
Not the most favorable of weather conditions for the day. Four or five fairways actually wet & muddy, should of had cart path only.
Enjoyed the layout, can not wait until spring to replay this course.
Favorite Muni
This course has been a regular in my groups rotation for as long as we have been playing in Dallas. Its not the grandest course, but its a fun and inexpensive treat. The course is well laid out and plays easy enough that you can come out and shoot a good score even if condition aren't favorable. If TPC Four Seasons is a glass of champagne this course is a cold beer, its something you can have every day and not grow tired of it. And you'll have much more fun anyway.
Great course for a great price.
Well maintained course for the price. I would definitely play here again. Kind and courteous service. My only complaint can't really be helped by the golf course but apparently, there's an old Blockbuster distribution center close to it. The alarm on an empty distribution center went of twice. Not the course's fault by any means. Great course.
Oak Hollow
Fast greens. Nice layout. #1 handicap hole requires a near perfect drive.
Fun round...VERY friend staff.
Hadn't played this track in a looooong time. Took my 13 year old there for a change of pace. Very friendly folks in the club house, serving up a cheap brunch Sunday morning. Fun round.
Very nice course.
I really like this course. It's not as easy as people say, there are some challenging holes that require a lot of accuracy. The greens were good and seemed to hold the ball fairly well. Some of the fairways are hard but I think with all the heat in Texas they are doing a good job maintaining it.
