Oak Hollow Golf Course
About
After 50 years, the old 9-hole McKinney Municipal Golf Course shut down to make room for the new 18-hole championship layout now known as Oak Hollow. This new layout, designed by Maury Miller, opened in 1998, featuring rolling terrain that routes around six manmade lakes.
Miller’s design is particularly friendly from the middle tees, playing a fair 6,277 yards with several short par 3s and many average-length par 5s. The number one handicap is No. 15, a 423-yard par 4.
Getting there : Take Hwy. 75 north to Hwy. 380, then head east to Hwy. 5 (McDonald St.). The road veers and leads you 1 mile to the course.

Muny with excellent pace of play -- a rarity.
Played in early March, so grass was dormant. Course was soggy due to recent heavy rains. Greens excellent for this time of year, and obviously drain well. Generally wide open course, except for #8, which is out-of-context with rest of course and unfair. Good variety of hole length, direction, and elevation. Excellent value for combination of green fee and pace of play.
Everything you want in golf
I have played at Oak Hollow many times and consider it to be one of my favorites in north Texas. The price is cheap but doesn't take away from the quality. It has some easy holes and difficult ones that will challenge your game. The Greens are in good shape right now. I have a good time every time i play here.
solid. classic
fun layout with a couple real challenging holes. 8 is tour caliber. very open. easy to find shots. small greens. great classic design
Great Weather - Average Course
Pace of Play was poor - too many slow golfers on the course. Had to wait on carts the course was so full. We were paired up with a couple of great young guys that also booked with GolfNow.
Fun day despite almost freezing temperatures
Great day on the course while we were to cold to realize we were about the only ones on the course. Finished playing in under 3 hours.
Great Course to work on your game
Temperature was great, however, 30-40mph wind added to the difficulty. Met up with a threesome Father son, had fun. Great for a Saturday afternoon and holiday weekend.
Oak Hollow-McKinney TX
It was a great weather day, just a bit windy though. The tee boxes and green have been over seeded for winter play. The greens are in exceptionally good condition, running a bit fast.
condition good. Fairway very thin grass.
Course is longer than most city course @ par 70.
Plays like par 72. Most par 3 holes are 180 or longer.
Great Fun!
Consistent - No matter what season.
I always enjoy playing Oak Hollow. It's always easy to get on the course and the entire staff is always very helpful. The course always seems to be in very good condition and well trimmed.
This isn't Cowboys, but the condition is great for a Municipal course. You won't be disappointed playing this course.
My cart went dead!
Course was in pretty good condition but my cart batts didn't make it, I had to help push last 2 holes and they never did come with a replacement cart!
Great value
The greens were excellent - the fairways are in great shape - pace of play was wonderful @ a little over 3 hours - the course is not difficult, but there are a few holes that will grab you when you get careless - plus, the cost to play is very reasonable.
Very nice course
The greens and fairways where in great shape. Ball control is needed on several holes.
Can't beat the price
Fun coarse to play, has some challenging holes with water and lots of dog legs. Got the Hot Deal price so was a super great value
Nice round, fun course
Nice round of golf on a fun course. Staff is always friendly and a good value thru golfnow. Fairways a little dry but greens are in nice shape. Some of the holes in the middle of the course are a little close - watch out for your fellow golfer:)
Good course, needs more Marshal's
A beautiful course overall. A bit dried out in areas. The need more supervision from a Marshal to maintain pace of play.
Confusing track poor condition
This course has too many blind tee shots, switchbacks. Course was in poor condition. Greens were ratty and bumpy. I will say that the par 3s are solid holes, but there are so many odd angle drives required. There is one hole that you have to aim into another fairway in order to stay in play. Its just a tight confusing track. Sorry.
Nice Little Course
First time playing Oak Hollow. Staff was very friendly and rates were good. Course was in nice shape. Water available on the course in several areas, which is important during the hot TX summer. Not a super challenging layout from a hazard perspective, but had quite a few dogleg holes and some long par 3s.
Mario
Course was in excellent condition. Staff was extremely friendly. It was my first time at this course, and I will definitely go back again.
Good course
For being a municipal, this is a nice place to play. Rates are very reasonable, fairways and greens are in good condition. Also pretty challenging.
Solid course
Had a fun round of golf at this course. The course condition was good. There were a couple of scenic views that enhanced the experience. My only complaint is that two of the holes were a little confusing as to where the fairway was. My golf partner and I had to stop and figure out where to hit. One of the holes was side-by-side with another hole before splitting off in opposite directions. Very confusing. Other than that it is a solid course. I would recommend it to anyone.
