Oak Hollow Golf Course

About
After 50 years, the old 9-hole McKinney Municipal Golf Course shut down to make room for the new 18-hole championship layout now known as Oak Hollow. This new layout, designed by Maury Miller, opened in 1998, featuring rolling terrain that routes around six manmade lakes.
Miller’s design is particularly friendly from the middle tees, playing a fair 6,277 yards with several short par 3s and many average-length par 5s. The number one handicap is No. 15, a 423-yard par 4.
Getting there : Take Hwy. 75 north to Hwy. 380, then head east to Hwy. 5 (McDonald St.). The road veers and leads you 1 mile to the course.

3 hrs 9 holes
I booked off of golf now, this is not their fault !!
Paid at course, seemed normal, had a starter, started backing up on the second hole, the three of us were behind a twosome, each of the holes we had close to 10 minute wait, by the end of nine, we find out that there was ( four ) fivesomes in front of us. I know at least nine players walked off. When saying something to the course marshal, he stated if we didn’t like the way they ran the course, there are other courses. So call before you book to make sure this doesn’t happen to you !!!
The course was great in areas like the greens. Fairways were in good shape. The sand traps were horrible due to rain and not manicured after. The range balls were old and cracked. Overall it was an ok experience but with a few details given more attention it could have been a very good experience.
This course is good for all levels of players.
I played the day after a heavy rain. The course showed very little signs of the rain the previous day. The greens were in great condition and rolled true. The fairways were in good shape. I played alone and it was easy to find my balls. I will definitely play here again if I'm come back to North Texas.
Friendly
MId-day pace of play on a week day was great. The course was in good shape but several holes cut down braches left on course which should have been collected.
Value Golf Course
Great if you live in the area or if you can get a great deal.
Nice track
Greens were in great condition. There was heavy rain the day before so there were several ‘soggy’ areas, most in front of greens. O really 4/5, I’ll be back.
Fun and challenging course
It was a fun course, perfect for your weekend warrior. Not a lot of fuzz but it will keep you entertained and challenged. Good for anyone living close to McKinney. I drove 45 minutes because I got an insane golf pass deal, but not really worth that drive
Great value
In good shape. Great value for money. Nice layout. Greens are fast.
Recommended !
Disappointed
The course is my “go to” course as it’s only a couple of miles from the house. It was closed last year for renovations…..where? There used to be Hot Deals for $22 that made the course perfect. Those are nonexistent now. Paid $111 for 2 on a rainy day. No one was on the course, except the Marshall, who drove past us 6 times on the front 9. By the third hole, he came by to tell us cart path only, after the club said 90 degree today. Yes it rained, but not enough to even soften and slow the greens. We got the impression he was upset for having to be out there, and wanted the golfers to feel it themselves. All in all, the course was the course. I just don’t understand why the price hike when it looks and plays like it always has.
Oak Hollow
Pace of play was a bit slow, but it is a muni course so probably should be expected. The fairways were a bit patchy and tight in many places. The greens however were in great shape and rolled nicely. Like most courses in the north DFW area it's priced a bit high.
