Mesquite Golf Course
About
Mesquite’s muni, located in the Duck Creek floodplain, was built in the 1960s by Leon Howard. Playing only 6,280 yards from the tips and void of bunkers, it makes for a fun day on the links. In fact, water comes into play only seven times–not as much as you might think for a floodplain course that has been ravaged by floods over the years.
The most challenging hole, No. 13, has water. It’s a 418-yard par 4 that doglegs right and features a tee shot over a creek, followed by a long approach to a tough, narrow green.
Other notes: Garrett Gill and George B. Williams redesigned this course.
Getting there : From I-30 east, take Northwest Hwy. for .5 mile to North Hwy. 67 and the course.

Best hidden gem
I hate to give this place such a good review because that attracts more people but they deserve it. Lightning fast greens, hard layout and fun traps. The only thing I’d complain about is the shared cart thing which id never do at any other course but this course is worth the hassle of meeting a weird random
Awesome First Time
Played the day after it rained. Course drained very well. Greens were well-maintained and played very fast (loved it!). Fairways in great shape. Staff was friendly and gave some good tips on playing the course. Didn’t use the range before.
I’ve paid twice as much for courses that didn’t play this well.
Road Construction
The course was fine for a city public course. Unfortunately its location combined with highway consttion both directions make travel to and from the course crazy.
BE SURE TO ADD EXTRA DRIVE TIME.
Rush hours here over the lake bridges can last for hours. 🙄
Golf
Excellent professional staff. Course in good shape and great pricing.
Average course
This is an average city course. Course was very dry. Greens were good. Fairways were weeds. Some views were nice. But can't rate it above average.
Great layout! Below average conditions
I’m torn. The layout is great, but the conditions are less than desirable. The fairways are not smooth. The turf is patchy. Grass clumps are everywhere. And then the greens are rolling at 13-14 on the Stimp meter making all your putts way more difficult than they need to be. Seems weird to me for the conditions to be so different from tee to green and from hole to hole.
Makes you think
I used my driver just a few times, so it’s a fun change of pace. Greens were fast and in good condition. I’ll be back.
Mesquite Golf Course
Considering it is the end.of February, the course is in good shape. Even with dormant grass on the.greens, they were good as well. I like playing this course because it is a shorter distance than most. The.price to play is very reasonable.
Great Muni
Played here for the first time as a single added to a threesome of very laid back gentlemen. Carts and Walkers. Start was a little late but the folks were so chill. Helps that the threesome were regulars… so had great tips on ball placement and I think I’d have made new friends if not for not being local!
A few dog legs which were challenging and fun, par threes with character and even a 200+ yard par 3 which was great!
Would definitely play here again!
