El Dorado at Quail Valley Golf Course
About
Developers eventually had their way with this cow pasture on the fringe of Houston. Loaded with native pecans and oaks and supplemented with even more transplanted trees, the terrain is ideal for golf, with two creeks and five natural lakes on the property. In fact, it's good enough to host the PGA Tour's Houston Open in 1973 and 1974.
The traditional El Dorado Course plays to a par 70 and features five par 3s that go 190-yards-plus from the tips. Jay Riviere designed the back nine.
Jeff Blume managed the redesign and complete renovation of the El Dorado Course in 2009.

Will Return!
My Dad and I had a blast today, weather was great (beside the heavy wind); the course was in great condition, and The Staff was excellent considering the circumstances. Thank y’all for making the day as normal as possible!
Supervisor
Great Course but should not let walkers play until after 2:00 pm
Good Tough Course
Played El Dorado. Course has a really challenging but fair layout that is a lot of fun. Had a pretty consistent 15 mph wind all afternoon which made this course even more difficult. Greens rolled very well given that the course is starting to recover from winter.
Good and pretty course
Course was great. We played after a day long rain and course was in great condition, no water puddles or soggy spots. However, the pace was a bit slow. There was a group of six in front of us and after passing them we met another group of five several ahead. People let us pass but I was hoping for the Marshall to enforce a pace of play a bit faster.
However, I would go back and play there any day!
February 23
Tournament and a ladies event in El Dorado so was able to switch to La Quinta. Paired up with another single and we had a good afternoon. Seemed to be quite a bit of hard pan, especially around the greens making up and down difficult. Traps could use some sand as well. Good day of golf though.
Narrow Course, Back 9 better
Course layout is decent, but it’s pretty narrow. It’s narrow because houses line pretty much each fairway. Tough to swing driver often. Pace of play was a bit slow because they have two groups of 5 on the course. Also put a random 2 sum behind our group of 4 which led to first 5 holes being rushed/unenjoyable. Starter set the tone by rushing us on opening tee box which we were 2 minutes early for tee time.
Overall, good experience but going to try other course in Houston
Great course but slow play
Houston golfers are the slowest I've ever seen.
Course still in good shape, greens are great.
Great challenging value
The el dorado course was in really good shape for the amount of play we saw. The layout was challenging and tight with most holes offering water or OB if you ventured one way or the other. The greens played beautifully. They were receptive and rolled so well it was ridiculous. The facility overall is nice but the driving range needs help. They make you hit off old mats with some old nasty balls. Your better seeved hitting some chips and putts.
Great Course
I enjoyed the course very much. It has a great layout from hole to hole and the greens were very nice as well... Definitely will play the course again..
Good Value
The course is usually in decent shape, but keep in mind this is a municipal course that is quite inexpensive. You are not playing a pristine course, nor are you paytfor one. Bunkers sometimes not properly dressed anf greens have a few dead spots. Friendly golf says “ just move it a little “ if you are in a bad spot not your fault
Great Course, But....
Course was nice and in great shape, Staff was friendly. However, we had a 12:07 tee time and there was a ~20 minute back up at the first tee. Two 5-some groups in front of us. Not sure why that was allowed on a Saturday. By the 14th hole it wasn't too much of a problem, but getting started was slow.
Overall experience was a good one, and will be back!

Course in very good fall/winter conditions. Greens quick and true. Pace was very good for a Sunday afternoon.
November 17th
Perfect fall day for golf. Course in great fall condition. Even first hole with new drain pipe and construction equipment on fairway was not an issue. Tee boxes, fairways and greens in good shape.
