El Dorado at Quail Valley Golf Course

Played this course on a great day. Granted the course just took a hit from a winter storm that significantly damaged a lot of great courses, however the tee boxes were beat up. Cart paths could use some work especially around the bridges, eventually they will deteriorate their golf carts. The fairway has minimal fluff and are compacted, the typical st. Augustine home grass is encroaching onto the course in many areas. There were areas under low hanging trees that were dry and bare. The lakes were mucky and some were smelly, and the turtle population is destroying the habitats for enrichment. The "rough" is just an assortment of weeds and invasive species. Now the positives of the course are the actual layout is fantastic, and its sad to see a course that has so much potential in such a great area let go. I found the course difficult but sometimes forgiving, I found a lot of my shots hindered by the conditions of the fairways and "rough". Now the greens in my opinion were great, surprisingly they had smoothness and enabled for some backspin. They were dry and bare in some areas, but understandably so due to the past winter storm. Sand traps were great, but not raked either by staff or players not sure. They could use some new sand and a fluff. Other than that I would play again especially if I saw some money put into restoring the course this summer.

They allow 5 people to play in groups. This makes play very slow. Very crowded course for 5.

Allot of water and hazards has this course as a very complex course. The greens are extremely well maintained and very fast, yet soft enough to land your shots. Pace of play was very slow due to overbooking due to it being right at a holiday (understandably). We look forward to trying the la Quinta side for our next booking. It’s worth the drive from Baytown.

Busy course on a holiday week day. But pace was maintained even though course was crowded. Greens were really good condition especially for all the traffic across them. Tee boxes and fairways were in good shape as well. Drink cart was visible at least 4 times during our round. All in All a good day.

The golf course is well maintained. The greens were in perfect condition.. Same for the fairways.

The course is great, fun challenging layout and well cared for, for time of year, have written this before and still holds true. This review is more to highlight the staff - proshop and marshalls who were not only extremely friendly but above and beyond helpful. Can't say it'll be everyone's experience, but it was definitely mine, so many thanks to them!
