La Quinta at Quail Valley Golf Course
About
La Quinta Course, one of the two regulation courses at Quail Valley, is a typical regulation course, slightly more difficult than El Dorado because of the water in play on 10 holes.

Value for the money
Nice open fairways. Fairways in good shape. Greens needs some attension from the green keeper.
Thank you for the feedback. We hear you.
okay expereince
course was in average condition; lots of bugs flying around; didn't like the fact there was a six person group in front of us and we were only a twosome
Apologies that other golfers slowed you down and the Spring time green-head bugs can be annoying. They usually last only a few days. Hope you make it back. We'll do everything we can to help you have a good time here.
Four more work to do
I played bad but would have putted better if the greens were in better shape.
Thank you for coming out and we hear you about the greens... working on it!
Nice day
Course was in good shape, a little wet but challenging still. Greens could use a little work around the edges.
Decent Course At The Proper Rate
1st time at Quail - played the La Quinta course. Nothing too negative to say except for green conditions which were bumpy and missing grass on perimeter. Would have to say it is a good draining course since conditions were pretty dry considering the mass of rain from day before.
Course is fairly enjoyable and certainly play worthy but imo not at holiday rate prices which were pretty inflated today.
Great Layout & Great Food After
There are 2 courses to choose from we went with LaQuinta they're about the same in quality and play. Great course lay-out, with some tricky green placements. Lots of hazards around the green, not so much in the fairways. The fairways on some of the holes could use a little attention. On some there;s quite a few bumps which make the valleys in-between them hold water when it rains. The pro shop is well stocked and the staff is courteous. Now for after your round you must go to the restaurant after, the food is great. If you go during lent, they have a fish special on Friday and only on Friday that is top notch. Sometimes the pace can be very slow but overall its an enjoyable course to play.
Many thanks! See you next time!
La Quinta at Quail Valley
For the time of year the course (Tee boxes and fairways) was in excellent condition and compared with the other course in the area it is miles better. Staff in the Pro Shop and the starter friendly and helpful.
Only thing that let the course down was the greens but considering the time of year they were okay and a lot better than than other local courses.
Only time I’ve been unhappy at Quail Valley is on a Friday when you can get stuck behind the locals around lunchtime (they go off in 4s and 5s & I’ve seen a group of 6) and now you’re looking at a 5 hour round. Check to see which course they are on that Friday, El Dorado or La Quinta, and play on the other one otherwise bring your breakfast.
Some of the holes don’t drain well so you can have “cart path only” if it’s rained heavily in the past 2 or 3 days.
Thank you for the compliments. We're still working on the greens and steadily getting better, so we hope to have you back again.
Saturday
Greens still a bit frost damaged but getting better, rolling a bit slow. Pace was ok for a Saturday. Staff always great.
Thank you for your understanding on a busy weekend. See you next time!
Better than expected...
I had never played the La Quinta course as all my friends like the El Dorado course when we play at Quail Valley. Based solely on my friends’ thoughts...my expectations were low. Since I got a Hot Deal on GolfNow, I figured what the heck.
The layout is a little quirky, but the wide-open fairways are extremely forgiving. The drink cart came around almost every 3-4 holes and was super friendly. My only complaint was that the greens were a little shaggy and they had just put down fertilizer which made putting difficult. It’s that time of year, so there isn’t much you can do about it. Overall, great price, fun course, extremely nice staff and good experience!
Thank you Lance, and we're working on the greens. Tons of rain this winter, so the greens should be awesome soon! See you next time.
Snails Pace
Apparently there was an octogenarian mini tournament booked ahead of us. The final group in front of us was extremely slow. Never heard of “ready gold” either. Frustrated to the point a good front nine was ruined and I left after 13 holes. Would’ve been over 5 1/2 hours if I continued.
Greens need help
Overall the course is in good shape wide open fairways which is a nice change of pace. There is plenty of water on this course as well. The greens however look like they might’ve had some disease, so there are some bare spots in areas that are kind of rough on the greens. With warmer weather coming hopefully the greens will fill in. Some greens were pretty slow others were a little faster it was hard to judge how hard to hit your putt.
We hear you and we're working on it. Tons of rain this winter, so the greens should be awesome soon! Hope to have you back from Cypress.
Potential Good course
Not sure if the constant rain made the areas of the course into poor conditions.
The greens had spotty areas of sand that was not grass.
The greens were not quick may not have been mowed right. So we’re on the slow. There was areas where there was still water on the course and soft areas. Tee boxes were spotty in areas. Not much grass. Some tee areas were on a slant. Not a very flat area to tee off from. Most sand traps both fairway and green side were pretty well manicured.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The range balls were not all cleaned. There was mud on a a handful of the range balls. The quality of the balls were not the best. Some were not even range balls.
Hopefully, some of these problems was due to all the rain.
Hopefully the greens will grow back and the greenskeepers can mow the greens to run the greens to closer to a 10 on the stimpmeter.
Indeed, the course has been soaked with rain this year, so we're working on it. We appreciate your feedback and understanding. Hope to have you back when it dries out. Thank you.
Slow play
It is extremely slow always waiting and while waitlng to heist the group behind you hits into us a couple of times. The excuse they gave was I didn’t think I could hit that far. The green wasn’t in good shape. Would recommend place the other course but it cost a little more for the money. They said they have a lot of rain.
Thank you for visiting from Austin on a busy weekend. The course fills up and it's unfortunate that groups occasionally hit into each other. We have been inundated with rain this year and hope to have you back again for another loop.
LaQuinta
Nice course. Too wet. Fair condition. Will play again when dry.
We here you and we're working on it. Hope to have you back again. Thank you.
I've played this course(Quail Valley-La Qunita) many times and enjoy playing it, however on Saturday, March 02, the course was too wet on every hole for enjoyment. Being that I'd booked through golfnow I couldn't cancel. Personally I think when the course is in such condition I should be able to get a rain check.
It's been a tough season of weather! If you didn't play, we'd be glad to offer a rain check. Please contact management, so we can make sure you have fun here on your next visit.
Thank you very much!
