Iron Horse Golf Course
About
Iron Horse Golf Course is laid out in the floodplain of Fossil Creek, an area loaded with woods and a railroad that divides the property into three tracts. When Dick Phelps designed the golf course he loaded it with par 4s that are over 400 yards. This track has only two par 5s, but you'll get your money's worth as they are virtually impossible to reach in two. Iron Horse's best hole is the 462-yard, par-4 third hole, which is generally a bogey hole for the average golfer.

Lots of ground under repair on every fairway. This was one of the better ones. Photo submitted by Ken9948006 on 03/27/2023

Too pricey for aerated fairways and cart path only on several holes. Should be discounted during these conditions.
A++ Course
Great bang for your buck! Haven’t been back since the renovation a year ago but course is in great shape. Staff is very friendly and will definitely be coming back here in the future
August Iron Horse
Greens were recently aerated. It was necessary, they still played good. Tee boxes, PLEASE water them in the afternoon or add more sand. It is almost impossible to tee up the ball without a hammer.
This course has been one of my favorites
I used to love this course - and in a way, I still do. The course marshals are extremely distracting. Before they try to rush you along, they should check conditions ahead first. We were rushed three times and each time, we were met by 2 groups of 4 waiting on another group causing us to have to wait for 20-30 minutes each time. They are retired guys who are extremely rude and act like they own the world. I pay my hard earned money to play there and they need to recognize that fact. They are distracting and this distraction affects your game in a lot of ways in terms of concentration. They need to be better trained in their responsibilities and how they interact with the public.
Nice Course. Rounds Take Forever
My first time playing here since the upgrade. Nice course and good conditions. Our round was close to 5 1/2 hours. This apparently is the norm on a weekend. Staff is nice and it's a fun layout. Waiting 10 minutes for every shot isn't fun. Don't think I'll return.
Good Course - Slow Play
Well maintained muni; tee boxes were level, fairways were full, greens were well maintained, bunkers had plenty of sand. But it is a muni - bad golfers who have no concept of pace of play. Cardinal rule of “You can be bad but you can’t be slow” needs to be emphasized and enforced.
Good Shape, not great
Some of the fairways are under repair. Not bad enough to really hurt having a good round. But enough to only give 4 stars instead of five overalls. Biggest pain in the backside are the golf carts and the OVER-RESTRICTIVE GPS controls! One of the ways to cool off in Texas is driving the cart between tee boxes with distance is at full speed. WAY TOO MUCH governing on their carts now. OK to restrict getting too close to the greens, but they have some par 4 holes with wide fairways as cart path only? Please loosen up the controls!
Good course, don’t play on the weekend
This course is fun and in good condition, however they always seem over booked and pace of play is at a snails pace. If you want to enjoy a round here you should try and play on a weekday. You’ll also save $20-$30.
Good Course
The first time playing this course and I was very surprised. Only negative was the rough was too high.
H20
Today me and 65 young friend played today and we were happy to see that there was plenty of very nice set ups. I remember 3 or 4 that had water coolers and paper cups . But it was jus a mirage because the first cooler had hot water and the rest were empty.
Carts were to slow and the backing up when your in a space ur not supposed to be is overwhelming.
