Iron Horse Golf Course
About
Iron Horse Golf Course is laid out in the floodplain of Fossil Creek, an area loaded with woods and a railroad that divides the property into three tracts. When Dick Phelps designed the golf course he loaded it with par 4s that are over 400 yards. This track has only two par 5s, but you'll get your money's worth as they are virtually impossible to reach in two. Iron Horse's best hole is the 462-yard, par-4 third hole, which is generally a bogey hole for the average golfer.

Lots of ground under repair on every fairway. This was one of the better ones. Photo submitted by Ken9948006 on 03/27/2023

Great condition
This course is in very good condition
Great greens smooth and kinda quick
Meh
Nice course, poor up keep. Pace of play was slow because at least for my group we had to look for every ball that didn’t land on the fairway. They didn’t have any carts available so we were 10 minutes late starting. Slow pace of the play meant we had one of our party that had to leave on hole 14. Only saw the beer cart twice in 4 hours. Two holes line up beside each other and are cart path only. It slowed down play and is not marked cart path only
Great track in great shape
Clubhouse and course were recently renovated. Both are fantastic. Pace of play was a little slow, although our foursome was playing Wolf. Great amenities with numerous cart girls and the cookout at 10/13. Course was in great shape, thick rough though! Definitely recommended!
Good course to play!
The course conditions were very good. Nothing bad to say except one thing. My wife and I played. It was not clear which were the women's tees. She played the ones in front of the Ironhorse tees as the other ones were way too close. The ones she played were not comparable off the tee to a man's tee therefore the equality of the tee difference usually always gave me the advantage. The women's tee distance should be reevaluated.
Decent pace
greens were slow except for 14 and 15 which are newly refurbished and played fast.
Pace of play
Group of 8 playing in front of us, called the clubhouse and the marshal never came.
Awful pace of play
Group of 8 playing in front of us, we called the clubhouse and the marshal never came.
Bad shape for the money
Greens were inconsistent, back 9 was completely re-seeded (cart path only, different type of grass in the fairways). 2 greens were under repair. Tee boxes on back 9 were torn up. Would not recommend for the price.
Course is looking goooood
Another fun round at IH. The course drained extremely well from the previous days rain. Cart gal came around several times. Practice facility and great shape and enjoying the new carts. 12-17 still cart path only due to new sod that’s greening up nicely. Tee boxes on 7&10 still need some work. Not enough sun maybe?
Iron Horse
I really enjoyed this course. Great layout, challenging holes and fast greens. I will definitely be back. Friendly staff on course, pro shop and club house.
Solid track with minor issues
Since the renovation this is a solid course to put in your rotation if your in the Fort Worth area. Not sure what they did but the carts have been slowed down to a snails pace I guess to control pace of play but it was definitely an issue. Course is in good shape with exception to a couple tee boxes needing to be watered more. Once they let carts on 12-17 that should help pace quite a bit, had a twilight round that ran 4.5 hours so almost there.
Iron Horse is back!
Iron Horse is looking great after the recent renovations. Fairways are greening up and the new drainage the was put in place seems to be doing the job. Holes 12-17 are still cart path only, but it’s my understanding this restriction will be lifted in a couple weeks. Greens are better than ever. Running hard and fast. #7 tee box still needs a bit of work. Almost forgot to mention...brand new golf carts! Beverage cart came around 4-5 times. I think in a couple months it will be a 5 star. Looking forward to some scrambles and glow ball events. We will definitely be returning and adding this course to our rotation.
Sounds like hitting the ball in the fairway would help your pace of play. Or, by rule, you have only 3 minutes to find it. Also sounds like your friend has more of a scheduling issue than a slow play issue. And lastly, if seeing the beverage cart only twice was an issue, maybe you should stick to Mario Brothers at the pub.
