Iron Horse Golf Course
About
Iron Horse Golf Course is laid out in the floodplain of Fossil Creek, an area loaded with woods and a railroad that divides the property into three tracts. When Dick Phelps designed the golf course he loaded it with par 4s that are over 400 yards. This track has only two par 5s, but you'll get your money's worth as they are virtually impossible to reach in two. Iron Horse's best hole is the 462-yard, par-4 third hole, which is generally a bogey hole for the average golfer.

Lots of ground under repair on every fairway. This was one of the better ones. Photo submitted by Ken9948006 on 03/27/2023

Front 9 Closed for at least 6 months
This ones on Golf Advisor. I actually didn't play this course after finding out the front nine is closed. No where did Golf Advisor mention this. Would think that would be important to know.
Bad course
The course is under construction and isn’t worth playing. It was a $20 round of golf and it was over priced. Course sucked, carts are terrible.
HORRIBLE
Holes 1-6 were under repair so they couldn't be played. Golf Now should REQUIRE courses to state this on the app prior to consumers paying for tee times. There was a drizzle last night, but there was standing water in some fairways and plenty of mud! The cart would not travel off of the cart path before stopping. I would have had a better time walking! It took me almost 3 hours to get through 12 holes as a single. Truly a waste of time!!!
Labor day
Do not plan to play till at least labor day. 6 holes entirely shut down till then. Restaurant and bar shuts down before 5pm. Other 12 holes appear to be neglected. No water in all ball and club washer. Pro shop did not infirm us of cart path only. Did not receive warning on cart till it was to late. Practically needed AAA assistance. Never seen this so NEGLECTED.
Great course, definitely worth checking out
Very fun course to play with a good mix easy and difficult holes. Will definitely challenge you if you have not played the course before, especially holes 7 and 10.
People seem to be negative about hole 3 being closed and 4 being a par 3 but fail to realize that it is the winter time and this is definitely the best time to be remodeling. This is not summer golf, of course it is not perfect. With that being said though the rates are definitely discounted to make up for that. Definitely worth checking out if you haven’t
Horrible
Horrible 25 carts broken. Waited for an hour to get a cart. And cancelled. Waste of 17 dollars
Very lacking.
When I first arrived I am informed there are no range balls available at the moment and there are no carts available either. We are able to finally get to the 1st tee 10 minutes after our tee time was scheduled. The starter then informs us that hole 3 is off limits and hole 4 which is a par 5 is now a par 3. The tee box was set in the fairway halfway down the hole. This was not disclosed when scheduling the tee time. I like the course but I won't be back.
Awful!
Course is in terrible shape! We were about to tee off on #1 when another player told us that holes 3-5 were closed for repair. I wish the app or the pro shop personnel had told us ahead of time. Everywhere the course was dry, rutted and full of bare areas and potholes. Don’t waste your time or treasure here!
temporary closed 3 thru 5 holes
I wish I knew there is construction going on 3 holes to 5th holes. We couldn't play these holes. The club house did not even told me about it. .
Great place to play, practice, or eat
The course is really pretty and laid out well. The practice facilities are really nice and the burger at the pro shop was amazing. The golf shop is small but loaded with choices and the staff is really friendly. The only issue I had is there were three holes down for renovation and there were a bunch of muddy spots throughout the course. I would definitely love to return here in the spring or summer when the grass is green.
Really nice place to play!
The only thing negative I have to say about this course is the few muddy spots scattered around and the fact that they are revamping three holes so I only got to play 15. Other than that this course is great and very fun and challenging.
Hard to find your way to next hole
Winter golf ....very windy, a bit chilly and course was in average shape. Layout out wasn’t bad BUT many times it was not easy to find the next tee box - they had tees marked but NO directional signs or arrows pointing you to the next tee and in some cases you had to travel a fair distance and it was not clear where to head.......a good example is you finish playing #17 - you travel back under the road - and must decided do I turn left or right - no sign indicating that you have to travel a long distance up and around a green you have already played - a bit pricey for the conditions
Poor fairways
Fairways were in poor shape. Havent played there in awhile and not sure how long its been that way. No marshal to keep pace of play moving on a Sunday either.
Fun course to play! Definitely a must golf.
I played Iron Horse for the first time today. The course is a lot of fun! Tee box conditions were ok, seemed to be oddly uneven, but the greens were in great condition. Fairways were in okay condition, and the traps were basically straight dirt. The steering on both carts seemed messed upped and mine had a cracked rim, but the gps worked well.
Layout of the course was a lot of fun and all the staff were very friendly. I’ll definitely be back!
