About
Iron Horse Golf Course is laid out in the floodplain of Fossil Creek, an area loaded with woods and a railroad that divides the property into three tracts. When Dick Phelps designed the golf course he loaded it with par 4s that are over 400 yards. This track has only two par 5s, but you'll get your money's worth as they are virtually impossible to reach in two. Iron Horse's best hole is the 462-yard, par-4 third hole, which is generally a bogey hole for the average golfer.

Don’t listen to others, find out for yourself!
Still considering myself a novice, I found Iron Horse has its challenges but not overly intimidating. I will say that hole 11 was the most intimidating, seeing that it runs right along the side of the highway, a pull of the tee shot and your ball could wind up on I-820 (no pressure).
However, the reason for the title of this review stems from the condition of the course was better than expected. Considering a conversion I had prior to Sep 17th, and I would play and recommend Iron Horse golf club.
The staff is great as well!!!
The pace was excellent and the price was right.
I’ve been here before but it’s been awhile and the course doesn’t disappoint
yiu..i will definitely be back.
Stay Away !!
Paid $80.00 to play a cow pasture. The fairways are in such bad shape, it was like playing in a dirt field. The greens are in good shape. I do not recommend this course at all. Never written a review but had to because of the terrible shape of the course
Waste
I have never seen the course in such poor shape. Greens were terrible, fairways are under repair, pace of play was terrible, and still are charging $69 a round. This course isn’t worth $30 a round with how bad of shape the course is in. Very disappointing.
1st/last time playing here
Greens had just been aerated(slow and bumpy), many fairways under repair/in need of repair. They don’t tell you any of this when checking in. Paid $17 with tee credit on GN, but apparently they didn’t have my tee time and was told that it would be cheaper booking directly anyway, then they charged me $36 for the veteran rate 😂.
Some other issues which would take far too long to mention. There are several good courses in this area, so I’ll just avoid this one going forward.
Fairways need some help!
Played this course once before and it was in great shape!! This time many of the fairways need some work. Many had large bare spots and needed water! The greens were ok as they were punched a few weeks back and had not fully healed!
Still a good course to play as this is a thinking course!! Have fun!
Where the cart can go?
Nice course layout, very short. Biggest issue is where you can drive cart. Hot dry day no mud and while some fairways have dirt there are no signs that says cart path only. You drive out and find out hard way.
Put signs out that tell people where the cart can go.
Fairways need more attention !
Fairways need attention, should be punched. Golf cart shut off is a pain and slows down play. Probably could rope off sensitive area.
bad shape
greens were punched 2 weeks ago.... and were really bumpy still... all 18 greens were the same....ball bounced on every dimple. several fairways had really bad bare spots... not worth what they are asking you to pay right now...cool course.. just needs to be in better shape....
